ABDUL: ‘TRAGIC FAN STALKED ME FOR 17 YEARS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

The obsessed fan who committed suicide outside PAULA ABDUL’s home last month (Nov08) stalked the star for almost 17 years.
Paula Goodspeed took a suspected drug overdose in her car outside the gates of Abdul’s Sherman Oaks, California estate on 11 November (08).
And the American Idol judge reveals her tragic death ended an almost two decades long campaign - that developed into a fearful obsession when Abdul landed a job on the hit TV talent show in 2002.
Speaking on U.S. talk show The View on Monday (08Dec08), the 45-year-old pop star says, "She has been a stalker/fan for about 17 years now. It wasn’t until American Idol that she ever knew how she could get to me. Prior to that it was all through a fan club.
"Because of American Idol, I’ve been an open target to be followed home. So the last five years have been a little tough for me." In a separate interview the singer confirms rumours she has been too scared to return to the home - which she is now selling.
Abdul told People.com, "I’ve been staying in different homes and hotels, and I have security with me."

They have repeatedly denied splitting, and Lohan has once again taken to her MySpace.com blog to "prove all the liars wrong" - less than a week after slamming previous break-up reports.
She writes, "(The paparazzi) should just stop asking altogether, once and for all if she and I are broken up because frankly, if we ever, ever did… I would say it before they could even think of asking… I’d say it here probably… I say everything here on MySpace.
"I was out with my friend Jamie and paparazzi wouldn’t stop asking me where Samantha was. I’m not writing this blog because I feel like I need to prove that I’m with my girl to anyone at all. It’s just annoying. And I want to vent."

Pop superstar MADONNA blew a reported $1 million (£680,000) at a hotel in Argentina last week (beg01Dec08) - so she and her crew could live in luxury during the South American leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour.
The singer spent the incredible sum at the exclusive Four Seasons resort in Buenos Aires, while she performed a string of gigs in the city.
Madonna is said to have splashed out $9,000 (£6,160) a night to stay in the hotel’s luxury suite - a private mansion in the grounds - while her 200 backing dancers, singers, make-up artists, choreographers, managers and security took up another 110 rooms, costing a minimum of $600 (£410) each.
A source tells Irish newspaper the Sunday World, "When they check out on Tuesday, with room service and extras the bill will top $1 million. This is the finest hotel in South America, offering every luxury you could possibly imagine, and it doesn’t come cheap. We’ve had some pop stars and presidents before, but nothing quite like this." Madonna flew into the city last Sunday (30Nov08) by private jet ahead of four planned concerts in Buenos Aires, but the opening night in the city was axed after a load of equipment for the show reportedly failed to turn up on time.

ABDUL: ‘IDOL JUDGING WILL PROCEED AFTER CONTESTANT’S DEATH’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

PAULA ABDUL insists fellow AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL will continue to scathingly critique performers on the show despite the alleged suicide of a former contestant.
Former Idol contestant Paula Goodspeed - who had been allegedly stalking Abdul - took a suspected drug overdose in her car outside the Sherman Oaks, California pad on 11 November (08).
Goodspeed’s brother, Charles McIntyre, disputed tentative police reports that she committed suicide in her car and has blamed the Idol judge for crushing her dreams of stardom.
Goodspeed auditioned for season five of the hit U.S. reality show in 2006 but did not make it past the initial stage.
Abdul appeared on U.S. chat show Good Morning America on Monday (08Dec08) to talk about the incident.
She says, "It was devastating and tragic, and there aren’t enough feelings that I can articulate without getting into a whole plethora of things. But I’ve got to tell you - luckily for me, I was at Hollywood Week for American Idol when it happened.
"I can’t even imagine if I was right there in my home. It was a very, very tough three weeks for me and my family and for everyone involved." But despite the lingering pain of the tragedy, Abdul insists honest criticism of the show’s contestants will continue - particularly from the mouth of music mogul, Cowell.
She adds, "I don’t think Simon Cowell will rethink anything. He’s a man that marches to the beat of his own drum. It’s the typical brotherly things that we have - he would… just egg it on and egg it on.
"But what people don’t realise is that this was a serious, serious situation."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

He tells People.com, "My grandmother was really firm about how men are supposed to treat women. So for me, my worst nightmare is for an actress to…
feel like I’m taking this opportunity to get a little quickie feel – you know, some legal cheating going on! "I just need, specifically women, to feel comfortable around me. I just don’t want to feel like I’m that dude.
"Jada said, ‘Listen, I know you’re uncomfortable, but you better not embarrass me.’ She said, ‘When you do that love scene, you better show ‘em what you’re working with!’"

ROTH RULES OUT FORREST GUMP SEQUEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Oscar-winning screenwriter ERIC ROTH is adamant he will never agree to a planned sequel to hit movie FORREST GUMP because the 9/11 terrorist attacks ended the dream of a second film.
Roth won the Best Adapted Screenplay gong at the Academy Awards for his work on the 1994 movie and he submitted a script for the follow-up just one day before the devastating attacks which destroyed New York’s World Trade Center.
Rumours began to surface recently that movie bosses were still considering putting Forrest Gump 2 into production.
But although Roth is convinced the sequel would still work more than a decade later, he doesn’t want the film to ever be made.
He tells Moviehole.net, "I turned in my version of the Forrest Gump sequel, or Part II, whatever you call it… It’s a continuation really - I want to start the movie literally two minutes after the end of the last one, with him on the bus bench waiting for his son to get home from school.
"But I turned in the script the night before 9/11. And we sat down, Tom (Hanks) and Bob (Zemeckis) and I, looked at each other and said, we don’t think this is relevant anymore. The world had changed. Now time has obviously passed, but maybe some things should just be one thing and left as they are.”

WEE MAN TARGETED IN NEW LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

JACKASS star WEE MAN has been targeted in a new lawsuit after two women accused him of conducting their allegedly unlawful arrest on his reality TV show.
Tracie Johnson and Marketta Jo Abram filed suit against the diminutive funnyman - real name Jason Bryant Acuna - on Friday (05Dec08).
The pair was filmed running from police officers in an Indiana department store on 10 December 2006 in a purported theft-related investigation for Acuna’s short-lived reality U.S. TV series Armed & Famous.
The show featured celebrities including Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson, Jack Osbourne and Trish Stratus working as reserve officers for the Muncie, Indiana Police Department.
Court documents allege the Muncie Police Department failed to properly train the celebrity officers, adding the women were “unlawfully restrained and falsely imprisoned” after being accosted by Acuna and Scott O’Dell, a police officer who served as his partner on the series.
The suit alleges had the officers used “due diligence, they would have known that Johnson and Abram were not criminals and that they in fact had done nothing wrong.” Court records show charges of resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct were filed against the local woman in January 2007.
The misdemeanour charges against Abram were later dropped by the Delaware County prosecutor’s office.
The CBS television network, show producers, the Muncie Police Department and its former chief, and the city and ex-Mayor Dan Canan have also been named in the suit.

BRANCATO ‘KNEW HIS ACCOMPLICE WAS ARMED’ - DRUG DEALER TESTIFIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

SOPRANOS star LILLO BRANCATO JR’s drug dealer has testified against him in court, telling his murder trial jury the actor knew his accomplice was armed the night he shot dead a New York cop.
Brancato claims he had no idea Steven Armento was carrying a gun on the evening of 10 December 2005, when they raided a Bronx, New York house in search of prescription drugs.
When neighbour and off-duty police officer Daniel Enchautegui disturbed them, Armento shot and fatally wounded him.
Joseph Borelli disputed Brancato’s claim in court on Friday (5Dec08), telling the jury that the pair had visited him earlier that night to buy drugs and that Armento - who was convicted of murder at an earlier trial - showed them both his gun.
The law states that Brancato, 32, is culpable, if he knew his accomplice was carrying the murder weapon.
The trial continues.
