MASON SUES COLLEGE OVER GIG ‘DECEIT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Veteran comedian JACKIE MASON is suing a New York college and a concert promoter for $50,000 (£33,000), alleging they breached an agreement by selling private gig tickets to members of the public.
The 72-year-old’s lawsuit claims he agreed to perform at Queens College in September (08), as a replacement for George Carlin who died in June (08).
It adds that he accepted a reduced fee of $50,000 (£33,000) on the understanding tickets would be sold for just $40 (£27) and only to the college’s students, staff and alumni.
Mason reveals he cancelled the gig when he discovered tickets were being sold to members of the public, reports the New York Daily News.
His lawyer Raoul Felder tells the newspaper, "He did this show as a courtesy to George Carlin, who was a very good friend of Jackie’s." Queens College and Friend Entertainment owner Norman Wasserman are listed as co-defendants in the suit.
