GEORGE CLOONEY raised $14.57 million (£10 million) for the victims of Darfur by hosting a fundraising party in London on Thursday (04Dec08).
The Ocean’s Eleven star organised the expensive bash for 100 guests with wealthy bank executive Roger Jenkins, with the aim of raising funds to help the two million people displaced by the ongoing war in the Darfur region of western Sudan.
Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and Cindy Crawford were among guests who paid up to ($14,575) £10,000 to attend the party at Jenkins plush home in Mayfair, London.
Kid Rock provided the evening’s entertainment before Clooney, a United Nations ambassador, addressed the partygoers to highlight the horrors occurring in Darfur.
