KIDMAN: ‘I’M BRAVER IN MY 40S’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

Actress NICOLE KIDMAN is embracing her 40s - because she is braver now than she has ever been.
The Oscar winner faced a tough time as she took on her role in Baz Luhrmann’s epic Australia - in which she had to live and shoot in the harsh conditions of the Aussie outback.
But the 41-year-old is adamant being a mature woman helped her cope with the extreme conditions - insisting she gains more courage with age.
She tells Britain’s The Independent newspaper, "The older I get, the more I feel like I’m on a roller-coaster when I do a film… I’m much more brave, and kind of throw myself into it and try not to worry if I fall flat on my face.
"It’s easy to become frightened of making a fool of yourself, particularly if, like mine, your nature is a bit reticent and shy to begin with. But I’m getting over it."

WEINSTEIN HOLDS OUT OLIVE BRANCH TO RUDIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Hollywood movie mogul HARVEY WEINSTEIN wants to make peace with producer pal SCOTT RUDIN, after their bitter argument over two new movies starring KATE WINSLET.
The pair battled over when to release the actress’ new movie The Reader, which they both worked on. Weinstein wanted a December (08) release, so the film would be eligible for Academy Award nominations, but Rudin tried to hold it back until 2009, so it wouldn’t clash with his other collaboration with Winslet, Revolutionary Road.
When Weinstein insisted on a 10 December (08) release, Rudin withdrew his name from the movie’s credits.
But the former Miramax boss is keen to repair the rift, and insisted on thanking Rudin at the film’s New York release party on Wednesday night (03Dec08).
He said, "I’d like to do something that isn’t a very popular thing to do, which is to thank Scott Rudin for all his hard work on this film."

SIMPSON SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS O.J. SIMPSON has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his part in a sports memorabilia heist at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas last year (Sep07).
The former American football icon-turned-actor stood silently between attorneys Gabriel Grasso and Yale Galanter in dark blue prison attire as the sentencing was read in Las Vegas today (08Dec08).
He will be eligible for parole after six years.
During pre-sentencing, Galanter accepted his client’s actions were "beyond stupid" but said Simpson felt he was doing the right thing in attempting to reclaim items he considered stolen from him.
The attorney told the court, "The court should be lenient… because he didn’t go into a bank and rob somebody; this wasn’t a planned, stealthful (sic), criminal, evil mind act. What it was was a highly emotional, stupid act that violated the law.
"If Mr. Simpson would have known… that his action would violate the laws of the state of Nevada, he would have never have done it… Mr Simpson is remorseful, he’s apologetic, he’s sorry." Prior to sentencing, an emotional Simpson, who was not expected to speak, fought back tears as he told the court he was "sorry and somewhat confused," about his conviction, adding, "I came here (to Las Vegas) for a wedding; I didn’t come here to reclaim property. I was told it was here… In no way did I mean to hurt anybody, to steal anything from anyone.
"I wanted my daughter… (late wife) Ms. Brown gave her her mother’s wedding ring. (It was) stolen… My oldest son… wanted a picture in the Oval Office with (President) Gerald Ford when he was five years old - stolen. All of these things are gone… I just wanted my personal things.
"I didn’t know I was doing anything illegal. I thought I was confronting friends and retrieving my property… I’m sorry for all of it." All but one of Simpson’s associates testified against the star during the trial. Co-defendant Clarence Stewart was also sentenced to serve prison time.
Nevada judge Jackie Glass denied motions for bail pending appeals, stating "both defendants face mandatory sentences in this case; I believe they’re both flight risks." Simpson was convicted on 12 charges, including armed robbery, on 3 October (08) - 13 years to the day since he was acquitted of the double murder of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Two of those charges were dismissed prior to Friday’s sentencing.
Goldman’s father Fred and sister Kim, as well as members of Simpson’s immediate family, were in court for the sentencing.

REZNOR SCRAPS 3-D CONCERT MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

NINE INCH NAILS rocker TRENT REZNOR has abandoned plans for a 3-D concert film which would have documented the band’s current tour.
Reznor lined up an ambitious movie, utilising technology developed by director James Cameron and intended for release in movie theatres and on DVD.
But the project has been scrapped, with the rocker blaming his record label Interscope for keeping him waiting "as usual for months" before bosses turned down his request for them to produce and fund the film.
In a posting on his website, Reznor adds, "We then achieved the impossible by finding alternate production/funding but the timetable is too rushed to get it filmed comfortably with the remaining time left on the tour." The band end the U.S. leg of their road drip in Las Vegas on 13 December (07), before jetting to New Zealand for an Antipodean leg that stars on 17 February (09).

DYLAN’S FORMER HOME ‘TRASHED BY OWNERS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

BOB DYLAN fans have reacted with fury to allegations the owners of New York’s legendary Chelsea Hotel have wrecked the room the rock legend once lived in.
Devotees have bombarded the city’s Buildings Department with complaints, claiming the hotel’s new owners are ripping apart room 211 - where Dylan once resided - despite only having official permission to renovate its kitchen and bathroom.
One blog shows a picture of the room stripped down and filled with trash, reports the New York Post.
The building, on Manhattan’s west side, has long been a mecca for artists, writers, actors and musicians. It has housed some of the most important cultural figures of the 20th century, including Dylan Thomas, William S Burroughs, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Jack Kerouac, and Dennis Hopper.
Sex Pistol Sid Vicious lived in room 100 and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen died there in 1978. And Bob Dylan spent many years in room 211. The hotel is immortalised in his song Sara, which includes the lyrics, "I’d taken the cure/Stayin’ up for days in the Chelsea Hotel/Writin’ Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands for you." The Chelsea was recently sold by its longterm owners, and critics claim the new proprietors are destroying its history so they can increase rents.
According to the Post, the Buildings Department has investigated the renovation and found no cause for complaint.

SMITH DISMISSES SCIENTOLOGY RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

WILL SMITH has brushed off reports his Hollywood pal TOM CRUISE has converted him to Scientology - because he is a student of all religion.
Smith, who was raised in a Baptist household, had his own faith questioned since striking up a friendship with Cruise - a well-known follower of Scientology.
But the I Am Legend star insists having security in his belief system has helped him become more open to others’ religious practices without taking them on as his own.
When asked to clarify if he is a Scientologist, Smith tells Newsweek magazine, "No, but when people are afraid of religion they have to go back and get in touch with the Good Book. Fear of other religions means you’re questioning your own understanding, and that’s just not where I am." He explains, "I love the nature of humanity’s search for meaning. For me I’m certain about my relationship with the model of perfection of human life that’s laid out with the life of Jesus Christ. I’m certain of that.
"I’m at home and not fearful when I sit in a mosque or a synagogue or a Buddhist temple, the same way that I’m home in the Church of Scientology. I like anywhere people are searching for the truth, and I respect their path and I’m intrigued by their path.
"I think when you are certain in and of what you believe in, you can open your mind to seeing the ways of others."
