Actor MARK RUFFALO’s younger brother SCOTT was gunned down at his home in an execution-style attack, according to new reports.
Scott Ruffalo, 39, was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to the back of the head on Monday (01Dec08) and remains in a critical condition in intensive care at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
According to the New York Post, hairdresser Ruffalo was at his condo in a middle-class Los Angeles neighbourhood when the shooting took place at 1.30am.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Tony Lee tells the New York Daily News there was "suspicious activity" at the location.
He adds, "If there was a shooting, our detectives would investigate whether it was homicidal, accidental or suicidal. We haven’t pinpointed anything yet." Mark Ruffalo’s spokesperson Jessica Kolstad said the actor is with his brother, adding, "I don’t have any further comment because there is an ongoing police investigation." Scott Ruffalo is married to fellow hairdresser, Luzelena Ruffalo, and is stepdad to her daughter, Lucinda.

PUSSYCAT DOLLS singer NICOLE SCHERZINGER reportedly caused chaos at a Los Angeles club - by storming out of a gig after just one song.
The chart-topping beauties had thundered through hit track When I Grow Up when lead singer Scherzinger fumed off complaining about poor sound quality at hip Hollywood joint The Viper Room.
The band’s fleeting appearance then apparently triggered fighting between angry gig-goers.
A source tells MTV.com, "It’s one thing that annoys her more than anything.

Singer/songwriter JOSH GROBAN has sparked reports he’s planning a cross-country move to New York after he was spotted perusing multi-million dollar apartments in the city.
The Los Angeles-born star recently toured a $3.85 million (£2.5 million) apartment in the star-studded West Village area, according to the New York Post.
Groban’s purchase of the two-bedroom duplex penthouse would make him neighbours with fellow downtown celebrity dwellers, including actresses Liv Tyler and Sarah Jessica Parker, and supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

Famed guitarist GARY MOORE has been ordered to pay damages - after he was found guilty of copying a guitar solo for a 1990 hit song.
A German court ruled that the licks in Moore’s record Still Got the Blues had been plagiarised from the 1974 song Nordrach, written by little known German band Jud’s Gallery.
The Irish star, who played with rockers Thin Lizzy in 1974 and again in 1978-79 as well as enjoying a successful solo career, has been ordered to pay damages, which have yet to fixed, to band leader Juergen Winter.

R&B star NE-YO has yet to speak to his mother after receiving six Grammy nominations - because he knows she’ll be weeping uncontrollably with excitement.
The singer was stunned after it was announced on Wednesday (03Dec08) he was up for six of the prestigious gongs, including one for Best Album for his LP, Year Of The Gentleman.
And although his mother has been repeatedly calling him, he has refused to pick up the phone.
He tells MTV.com, "My mom has been blowing me up (calling incessantly)! I’m not gonna call her back right now, because I know she’s gonna cry!" And the Closer hitmaker, who won a Grammy this year (08) for Best Contemporary R&B Album, is convinced his mother is already clearing room in her house for six more statuettes - because she likes to put his awards on a spinning pedestal.
He adds: "My mom, she took the first one (I won). Guess she’s gonna have to call the guy that built that (pedestal) and get six more!" The 51st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will take place at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on 8 February 2009.

Singer DIDO has made her mark on the European album charts - her LP SAFE TRIP HOME has stormed to number one in its first week of release.
The British singer’s third studio album has ended rockers AC/DC’s reign at the top, with their record Black Ice now sitting at number two after four weeks in pole position.
Nickelback scraped into the top five with their new offering, Dark Horse, charting behind Enya’s Christmas release And Winter Came at three, and Il Divo’s The Promise, which is in fourth place for the second week running.
Meanwhile, in the European singles chart, R&B queen Beyonce Knowles’ If I Were A Boy claimed the top spot, pushing Guru Josh Project’s Infinity 2008 down to two.
Katy Perry’s Hot N Cold takes third place, with the top five rounded out by Britney Spears’ Womanizer and Pink’s So What.

Bosses at the Public Broadcasting Corporation Of Jamaica (PBC-J) are appealing for the return of its music collection - containing the works of BOB MARLEY and PETE TOSH - after failing to find the recordings nearly a year after they were stolen.
Thousands of original records, reels of music and historic film footage - all intended to be housed at Jamaica’s national archive library - were taken from the PBC-J’s old headquarters in Kingston during a raid in January (08).
Police are still investigating the incident, but company executives estimate around 80 per cent of the collection was stolen.
Leighton Thomas, the head of the PBC-J, says, "When we came in we saw piles and piles of sleeves that the 45s came in, literally a couple of thousand on the floor just laying on the ground." And now the PBC-J is hoping locals can help find and rebuild the collection as it contained classic, irreplaceable reggae cuts.
Thomas adds, "Artists would go out and make just one vinyl record only for radio, a one-off cut.
"Some of Bob Marley’s original recordings would have been here, material that was never mass-produced and sold. So that’s what we’re searching for, to see if we’ve still got the Bob Marley before he was Bob Marley."

GARBAGE star SHIRLEY MANSON is in mourning after the sudden death of her mother.
The rocker rushed from her Los Angeles base to her family home in Edinburgh, Scotland after learning Muriel Manson, a former singer, had passed away last Wednesday (26Nov08).
Announcing the sad news on her official Facebook page, Manson writes: "My beloved mother died today from complications arising from dementia.
"I just wanted you to know because anyone who has ever been touched by me and my band and our music has in part been touched by my mum." And the star’s father John insists the entire family is "devastated" by the loss.
He says, "The family are all devastated about Muriel’s passing. It happened around 8pm on Wednesday evening at home and it was very peaceful… We knew she had been ill for a while and knew it was a matter of weeks or months rather than years." The news comes just weeks after Manson reportedly announced her engagement to Billy Bush, a sound engineer who has worked with Garbage.

Psychic URI GELLER can understand why pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON terminated their friendship - putting it down to the singer’s need to put his "past troubles behind him." The performer became a close friend of the Thriller hitmaker throughout the 1990s. But the pair has not spoken since Jackson’s 2005 child abuse trial, in which the star was eventually cleared.
And Geller is convinced the superstar needed a fresh start when all his legal troubles were over.
He says, "We’ve never had a harsh word, and I am still deeply fond of him.
But I appreciate he needs to put his past troubles behind him. If that means severing old friendships, I can understand how he feels. I suspect his survival depended on starting afresh."

R&B singer AKON has denied his collaboration with MICHAEL JACKSON was pulled due to the King of Pop’s recent legal problems - insisting their recording sessions were scrapped because of an internet leak.
The Smack That hitmaker teamed up with Jackson on the track Hold My Hand, but the song was pulled at the last minute from Akon’s latest album Freedom.
Reports suggested the track was scrapped as a result of Jackson’s recent legal case with an Arab sheikh - who settled out of court with the Thriller legend in November (08) over claims Jackson breached a music contract.
But Akon has slammed the rumours - insisting he removed the tune from his new LP after it illegally made its way online.
And despite the urban star’s disappointment over the unreleased recording, he is adamant the two will work together again soon.
He tells British newspaper The Daily Star, "Musically we were on the same level and we wanted it to be special. We wanted it so that when people got my album, it was something that was never heard. But the leak stopped those plans.
We will be doing more things together in the future, though."

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN has laughed off rumours the band is on the verge of splitting, insisting the group will never break up.
Last month (Nov08), Martin hinted that the band would cease in 2010, adding: "I’m 31 now and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33." But now he has reassured fans that the Yellow hitmakers still have a lot of music left in them - and are focusing all their energies on their next album.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "We’re proceeding as if it’s our last because it’s the only way to proceed.
"You’ve got to have deadlines, you know
. What that means is we’re going to pour everything we can into next year and not think beyond that
. We always say that and we always mean it
. But every time we say it, someone writes that it’s over.

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO and KATE WINSLET’s love scenes in forthcoming movie REVOLUTIONARY ROAD had to be sexed up - by the actress’ director husband SAM MENDES.
The Hollywood stars play a couple in the film and were often required to shoot intimate scenes under Mendes’ guidance.
But the director wasn’t bothered about his wife getting close to DiCaprio on set - and openly encouraged it.
Winslet tells the New York Daily News, "Initially I was very worried it would be difficult to concentrate (on the sex). But Leo was fine with it, which relaxed me.
"And I never sensed Sam feeling awkward. Quite the opposite. He’d yell from the other room: ‘Press your hand into her back more! And when you take her face, really grab it!’" Because Winslet had previously starred with DiCaprio in 1997 hit film Titanic, she was put immediately at ease by the rapport they already had with each other - and the pair regularly reverted to childish antics during their time filming the movie.
She adds, "Maybe if it had been anyone else but Leo, it would have been weird. But we’re not really like grown-ups. We’re like two little boys." And Mendes is adamant he was fine with his wife’s onscreen chemistry with DiCaprio: "I couldn’t have been more comfortable with the situation. We’d done a lot of sequences like that before. So this time it was kind of easy."

The Simple Life star has impressed bosses at Disney with her movie roles and her online comedy sketches, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
And now they are said to be keen for Hilton to bring the fairy Tinkerbell to life in a live-action version of the story.
A source tells the website, "Paris has worked on her acting chops lately and showed some comedy prowess in her YouTube spoof of running for president.
Disney suits saw it and think she may be developing some comedic-actress potential."

British actress KATE WINSLET has defended her controversial Vanity Fair cover after claims it was airbrushed - she is adamant her slimline figure was down to good lighting and make-up.
The Titanic star stripped off for a Catherine Deneuve-inspired shoot for the magazine last month (Nov08), posing provocatively on a sofa wearing nothing but stockings, high heels and a fur throw.
Winslet’s slimline figure drew accusations that the pictures were digitally altered to remove her famous curves, which her representative quickly denied.

Supermodel KATE MOSS has got into the festive spirit by treating her daughter’s nanny to a $4,350 (£3,000) shopping spree at British fashion store Topshop.

Hollywood actor JOHNNY DEPP has landed a challenging new role - he will star in a film based on the life of Italian Renaissance poet DANTE.
Depp’s production company, Infinitum Nihil, has bought the screen rights to Nick Tosches’ 2002 book, In The Hand of Dante.
The story will parallel the lives of a modern-day writer, played by Depp, and Dante as he attempts to complete his classic work The Divine Comedy. It is not yet known which actor will play the title role.
The Divine Comedy, written between 1308 and 1321, constructs Dante’s vision of the Christian afterlife and leads him through the three realms of the dead Purgatory, Hell and Heaven.

British comic LEE EVANS was forced to return from his two-year stint in Hollywood to salvage his marriage.
Evans shot to international fame with roles in a string of hit comedies including 1997’s Mousehunt and There’s Something About Mary with Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz, a year later (98).
But the funnyman decided to give up his movie career and move back to his native U.K. - after he found his relationship with his wife Heather and their daughter, Mollie, was suffering.
He says, "I spent two years working out there with them at home and I can’t do it. Los Angeles is such a lonely place, too. It is full of people that talk bulls**t, I quickly found that out. I’m not an actor - I’m a stand-up comedian."
