MEET THE SPARTANS model-turned-actress PAIGE PETERSON spent her Thanksgiving holiday in a jail cell after she was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanour domestic battery on Thursday (27Nov08).
Peterson is alleged to have beaten up her unnamed boyfriend at their Hollywood home on Thursday evening and was picked up by California authorities at around 5pm local time.
Police sources claim Peterson was "yelling, kicking and fighting" after she was locked up - and website TMZ.com claims her behaviour was so bad, she had to be handcuffed to the bench in the cell.
Peterson, whose boyfriend was not injured in the incident, was still behind bars as WENN went to press.

Arkansas police have charged a man with the murder of the news anchor who made a cameo appearance in OLIVER STONE movie W.
Anne Pressly, 26, was found unconscious in her bed on 20 October (08) with severe head and body wounds. She failed to recover from the horrific injuries and was declared dead at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Arkansas five days later (25Oct08).
Her murder came just a week after the release of Stone’s George W. Bush biopic, in which she plays a news reporter.
Local authorities have now arrested 28-year-old Curtis Vance on suspicion of the slaying.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Terry Hastings confirmed Vance had been taken into custody on Wednesday (26Nov08) night, after cops were alerted to his location following a late-night news conference, where he was revealed as the key suspect.
It had been feared Vance was armed with a pistol and "lots of extra ammunition", but he was found unarmed when cops swooped on his home in Little Rock.
Vance has been charged with capital murder based on "a very, very solid case due to solid detective work", the representative said. However, the authorities have refused to go into further detail about what led them to name Vance as their main suspect.

Actress WINONA RYDER is at the centre of a new controversy after reportedly losing $125,000 (£81,170)-worth of borrowed Bulgari diamonds loaned to her for an awards ceremony appearance in Spain.
The Girl, Interrupted star had been given a diamond-encrusted bracelet and ring to wear to a Marie Claire magazine party in Madrid earlier this week (begs24Nov08).
She reported the items missing after allegedly handing them in to her hotel’s front desk in an envelope to be kept in the venue’s safe.
But according to French magazine Voici, the hotel bosses have not yet been able to locate surveillance footage to prove Ryder’s claims - and Bulgari executives have now asked police to investigate the jewellery disappearance.
A spokesperson for the actress, who was arrested in 2001 for failing to pay for goods taken from Beverly Hills store Saks Fifth Avenue, has yet to respond to requests for comment.
Bulgari representatives have refused to address the reports or confirm the disappearance of the jewels.

HANNAH MONTANA star MILEY CYRUS is convinced her siblings are going to be able to emulate her success in showbusiness - because they all love the limelight.
Cyrus shot to fame in the Disney hit show when she was just 14 and now some of her brothers and sisters are also embarking on careers in the public eye.
Cyrus’ older half-brother Trace, 19, currently fronts a band called Metro Station, while her younger brother Braison and sister, Noah, are also keen to be famous in their own right.
And the singer/actress is delighted that her loved ones are starting to find success.
She says, "They really like it (fame). My brother Trace is in a band that’s not so popular here (in the U.K.), but in the States they’re huge. And my younger brother is a drummer in a band. He doesn’t really want to do it professionally yet. He just wants to go on tour. He’s really amazing. And my sister is doing a new version of a Japanese film. She’s playing the main part."

The photographer who took the iconic cover shot for THE CLASH’s 1979 album LONDON CALLING has been honoured for her work in the industry.
Pennie Smith was presented with a prize for outstanding contribution by Blur rocker Graham Coxon at the Record of the Day Awards in London on Thursday (27Nov08).
Madonna and R.E.M.’s publicist Barbara Charone was handed a similar award at the event, which celebrates the best in music journalism and PR.
Charone, who was sent a video message by rockers R.E.M. to congratulate her for the prize, used her speech to pay tribute to former U2 record boss Rob Partridge, who lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday (26Nov08).

Rapper JADAKISS has had the release of his forthcoming album THE LAST KISS pushed back until 2009.
The Lox star was originally slated to drop his new LP in December (08), but bosses at his record label Def Jam want Jadakiss to add more material to the disc - to reward fans for their long wait.
In an interview with New York radio station Hot 97, he said, "They trying to squeeze me, but we’re gonna (record) some more music and heat it up even more.
"Def Jam, when they push the button, they mash the button… I ain’t (sic) have an album out in so long, so it’s different. I had a nice few months to work my other albums. This one, you got the single, got the video, you gotta heat it up some more." The Last Kiss is the follow-up to 2004’s Kiss of Death.

Teen superstar MILEY CYRUS is determined not to fritter away her hard-earned cash - because she wants to be able to support her parents when they retire.
The Hannah Montana actress/singer has made millions since she was cast in the hit Disney show, and recently topped a poll by Forbes magazine of the world’s highest-earning young stars.
But Cyrus has vowed that she won’t be splashing her money on luxury cars, jewels or clothes - because she wants to keep enough savings aside to help her father, Billy Ray, and mother, Leticia, later in life.
When asked whether she will be indulging in a few shopping sprees, Cyrus says, "Certainly not. I wouldn’t have anything left to support my family, because that is what I do. When I get older, and maybe my parents want to settle down, I want to be able to take care of them."

The rocker is a sworn sergeant in New Orleans, which enables him to carry a firearm wherever he goes in the U.S.
And the star admits the biggest thrill he has ever had was using a gun from his vintage collection of deadly weapons.
He says, “I can carry a gun anywhere in the US. I don’t though - only when I’m going somewhere like Detroit.
“The biggest rush I’ve had is firing a 1858 civil war cannon I bought for $200,000 (£130,000). It’s called a Boston Patriot. Anything from the civil war is pricey because of the history connected to it.”

British actress SIENNA MILLER has reportedly reconciled with ex-boyfriend BALTHAZAR GETTY - after the pair was spotted enjoying a lunch date in London on Thursday (27Nov08).
The Alfie star has been romantically linked to oil heir and actor Getty since the summer (08) when they were seen in Prague in the Czech Republic, on the set of Miller’s new movie G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has expressed his disappointment at LED ZEPPELIN’s decision to reunite without frontman ROBERT PLANT.
The Kashmir hitmakers announced last month (Oct08) that they plan to hit the road in 2009 without Plant, who has opted out of the reunion shows.
The remaining stars, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham’s son, Jason, are now auditioning singers to take over vocals.
But fans of the rockers don’t want to see the group with another frontman and former Beatle McCartney concedes it won’t be the same without Plant.
He says, "What’s happened to Planty? He was great at their gig. It’s such a pity."

Australian actor HUGH JACKMAN has vowed to quit his role in the X-MEN franchise if viewers aren’t impressed by his spin-off movie X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.
Jackman, who has already starred in three of the comic book adaptations, will be seen reprising his role as the superhero in the forthcoming picture which is due to hit cinemas in May (09).
But he insists that if the prequel fails to match the success of the previous X-Men films, he will quit the franchise altogether.
He tells Moviehole.net, "If it’s clear to us on May second or third that that’s gone, then I’ll walk away happily.
"I’m not going to flog something - or flog a dead horse, or try and make movies that people don’t really want to go and see. I have no interest in that.
Even no matter how much I love the character. So there are many prerequisites".
If the movie does garner impressive box office figures, the actor would be keen to sign for a follow-up - but only if the right script comes along.
He adds, "There’s a few storylines that are running my head which I think would be really cool, but unless the script is right, then I just don’t see the point in doing it. I’m probably at the point in my career where I don’t need it. And the last thing I want to do is just to push it on people, if it doesn’t warrant a full feature movie.'’

British funnyman STEVE COOGAN has slammed the modern generation of comics as too "nasty" - accusing stars including RUSSELL BRAND of relying too much on "cynicism" in their work.
Brand recently quit his BBC Radio 2 show after he and fellow broadcaster, Jonathan Ross, were heavily criticised for leaving lewd messages on Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs’ answering machine, in which they discussed Brand’s fling with the 78-year-old’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie.
And Around The World in 80 Days star Coogan was disgusted when he heard about the prank, insisting comedians like Brand need to clean up their acts.
He says, "I like comedy that’s anti-cynical. Russell and Jonathan were symptomatic of cynical comedy. I want people to move on from the idea that to be edgy is to be nasty. People disguise nastiness as edginess, and it’s not.
It’s a cheap shortcut. Some stupid people think that if you say something nasty, it makes you edgy and that bugs me more than anything."

Teen superstar MILEY CYRUS has been inspired to give up her acting/singing career to study photography following her controversial shoot with legendary snapper ANNIE LEIBOVITZ.
The Hannah Montana star sparked outrage by posing in just a bedsheet for a Leibovitz spread in Vanity Fair magazine earlier this year (08).
But the singer/actress was so fascinated watching the artist at work, she is now determined to gain a degree in photography herself.
And Cyrus is convinced that the best way to study the medium is by enrolling at a university in Britain.
She says, "I do want to come to London to study photography. I hear there are some really great art schools, so I would love to do that.
"I got to work with an amazing photographer. (Leibovitz) was amazing and so talented. And that’s what I want to do with my life. I would love to be a photographer. I would love to work with her again."

Three men have been accused of kidnapping a close friend of British singer LILY ALLEN.
Allen’s unnamed male pal and another man were allegedly snatched from a shop in west London in August (08) and kept prisoner for seven days while $115,500 (£75,000) ransoms were demanded from their families.
The pair was subsequently rescued by police from an address in the south of the city a week later.
Jason Goode, Thijseen Johns-Elliot and Joseph Hadji denied two counts of kidnapping, two of false imprisonment and two of blackmail at London’s Southwark Crown Court on Thursday (27Nov08).
All three were remanded in custody and were ordered to stand trial next year (09).

Oscar-nominated playwright WILLIAM GIBSON has died at the age of 94.
Gibson passed away at his home in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on Tuesday (25Nov08). The cause of death was not disclosed as WENN went to press.
Gibson is best known for his famous play The Miracle Worker, which was turned into a critically acclaimed 1962 film.
The movie won Academy Awards for both its stars, Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, and garnered Oscar nominations for Gibson and director Arthur Penn.
The play also scooped a string of Tony Awards.
Gibson was also nominated for a Tony in 1965 as co-author of Golden Boy, a musical version of the play by Clifford Odets starring Sammy Davis Jr.

Singer BOY GEORGE failed to name the man he is accused of handcuffing at his home when he told police his laptop had been hacked, a London court has heard.
The former Culture Club frontman, real name George O’Dowd, is said to have chained male escort Audun Carlsen to a hook on his bedroom wall at his London apartment after suspecting him of tampering with his computer.
But a police officer who spoke to the singer about the alleged incident told jurors O’Dowd did not name Carlsen - believing an ex-employee was responsible.
Snaresbrook Crown Court heard O’Dowd reported to police last year (07) that personal data and pictures had been stolen from his laptop.
Detective Constable Matthew Foy said: "He told me that photographs had been stolen from his computer by an ex-employee. He said the employee had worked for him and may have seen him type his password into the computer." The officer added that O’Dowd said "nothing at all" about suspecting Carlsen of involvement - and when police examined the computer they could find no evidence it had been tampered with.
The jury has been told O’Dowd met Carlsen through a gay website and took naked photos of him at the singer’s east London home. It is claimed that when Carlsen returned to the property several months later, O’Dowd lured him into the bedroom and handcuffed him to a hook on the wall.
Carlsen claims he wrenched himself free and fled the property.
O’Dowd denies false imprisonment.
The trial continues.

Kind-hearted rapper T.I. spent his Thanksgiving holiday serving up meals for the homeless in his native Atlanta, Georgia.
The hip-hop star gave up time with his family on Thursday (27Nov08) to help out at his local food bank, handing out meals to more than 22,000 needy citizens.
T.I. previously raised nearly $100,000 (£64,935) for the event, which was organised by the Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless charity.
And the rap star insists he was happy to help: "It’s a pleasure for me to help service those who are definitely in need of the service." T.I.’s fellow Atlanta-based rapper, Young Jeezy, also donated $5,000 (£3,247) to the cause.
