DEE GETS LIFE HONOUR AT DIVERSITY AWARDS

AMERICAN GANGSTER star RUBY DEE has been honoured with the 2008 Lifetime Achievement prize at the Multicultural Motion Picture Association’s Diversity Awards.
The Academy Award nominee was presented with the accolade on Sunday (23Nov08) at the Universal Studios Hollywood.
Rapper/actor Ludacris, real name Christopher Bridges, was named Creative Maverick, while screenwriter Diane English walked away with the Best Adapted Screenplay title for her work on The Women.
Other winners include The Secret Life of Bees actor Nate Parker, for the Male Nova Award; writer, actress and director Gina Prince-Blythewood was the Visionary Award recipient; while U.S. show The Cleaner was named Most Compelling Television Drama, and Saving Grace took the gong for Favourite Television Drama.
