Superstar BEYONCE KNOWLES is determined to make her marriage to JAY-Z last because she has been inspired to forge a longterm partnership by her parents.
The R&B star married the hip-hop mogul in a secret ceremony in New York in April (08).
And while Knowles is aware there will be tough times ahead, she is adamant their marriage will survive as long as they follow the example of her mum and dad, Mathew and Tina.
She tells Giant magazine, "My parents are tighter now than ever, but they’ve been through it all. There were times when they were together, times when they were apart. I learned that it’s a lot of hard work, that it’s more than a dress."

The son of Welsh rocker DAVE EDMUNDS is missing more than $4,500 (£2,940) in jewellery after two women ransacked his New York apartment.
According to police reports, 27-year-old James Edmunds and his brother, Paul, 25, invited the girls back to James’ Manhattan pad on 25 October (08).
One of the ladies reportedly asked to take a look around the Upper West Side apartment at approximately 2am.
James has reported he’s missing three pricey watches in the alleged theft, including his $4,000 (£2,615) Rolex, $300 (£195) Coach and $211 (£140) Mondaine timepieces, reports the New York Post.

Superproducer MARK RONSON has denied he has been caught up in a bitter feud with troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE.
Recent tabloid reports have suggested the pair fell out over the scrapped recording of a theme tune to new Bond movie Quantum of Solace.
But Ronson is adamant that the reports of a spat are untrue - insisting he just hasn’t been able to catch up with the Back to Black hitmaker as he has been spending so much time in the U.S.
He says, "I haven’t been in England in a while. I always go and see her when I’m there and I saw her about six weeks ago but I haven’t spoken to her in a little while." Ronson also reveals he is still close to pop star Lily Allen, despite having no involvement in her forthcoming new album.
He adds, "We didn’t work together on this record but Lily’s a great friend and I think she’s one of the best melodic writers of her generation.
"I’ve heard a lot of the new record and I think it’s great. She’s somebody that fills a void in pop music. I’m a huge fan of her, whether as a friend or not."

The male escort at the centre of singer BOY GEORGE’s false imprisonment trial asked to be handcuffed during an earlier raunchy photo shoot, a London court has heard.
The former Culture Club frontman, whose real name is George O’Dowd, is alleged to have lured model Audun Carlsen to the bedroom of his home last year (07), where he reportedly handcuffed him to a hook on the wall and beat him with a metal chain.
But jurors at the trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court were shown earlier pictures O’Dowd had taken of Carlsen, who appears semi-naked with chains around his wrist and a choker on his neck.
O’Dowd’s defence counsel Adrian Waterman QC told the court that the male escort was willing to be cuffed.
Cross-examining Carlsen, the QC said: "During this photoshoot you yourself took handcuffs and asked to put them on." But Carlsen said the claim was "rubbish" and denied he would have allowed himself to be restrained.
The model told jurors he put the chains loosely around his arms only to make it appear as thought he was cuffed.
O’Dowd and Carlsen had fell out after the photoshoot when O’Dowd accused Carlsen of tampering with his computer.
But the two agreed to meet again at O’Dowd’s house in Shoreditch, east London several months later - where the singer is accused of cuffing Carlsen to a wall.
O’Dowd denies one charge of false imprisonment.

HUEY LEWIS’ son AUSTIN CREGG is facing a possible jail sentence, stemming from his arrest in March (08) when he was found with marijuana while scrawling graffiti on a New York City street.
The 23-year-old was nabbed at 3.51pm on 5 March 2008 on West 4th street in the West Village by cops who spotted him marking a wall with graffiti and acting in a drunken manner.
He was arrested for criminal mischief by officers, who discovered a small bag of marijuana and black marker on his person.
Cregg - a wannabe musician with dreams of following in his father’s footsteps - was slapped with a violation for the bag of marijuana and a misdemeanour charge for making graffiti, later lowered to a violation.
He pleaded guilty to a 2420 charge of Disorderly Conduct involving marijuana, and on 13 June (08), he was sentenced to 10 days community service.
But he didn’t complete the sentence in the allotted time, only managing seven days serving up food to AIDS, HIV and cancer sufferers in a downtown kitchen.
Cregg was hauled before Manhattan Lower Court on 21 November (08), where he was given until 2 February 2009 to work the final three days.
If he misses that deadline, he risks being jailed.
However, if he works the hours, the case will be officially closed on Cregg’s "sealing date", scheduled for 12 June (09) - if he can avoid another arrest until then.
The day before his most recent court date, a friend told WENN, "He has been using (his girlfriend) Jessica’s attorney, because he doesn’t want his dad to find out. It’s not the first time Austin has been in trouble. He has been arrested at least a dozen times before, but Huey has no idea.
"Jessica has been funding the whole affair."

A judge in London has praised AMY WINEHOUSE’s husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL for the progress he has made in his battle with drugs.
Fielder-Civil was originally due to be released from prison in December (08), but he was freed earlier this month (Nov08) after serving almost a year behind bars in relation to an attack on a pub landlord in 2006.
As part of his early release deal, he checked into a rehabilitation facility in Surrey, south east England.
Fielder-Civil went back to court on Monday (24Nov08) to appeal against his 27-month prison sentence, with his lawyer calling his jail time "manifestly excessive".
Two judges turned down his request but subsequently told Fielder-Civil they were satisfied with his commitment to kicking his addictions and urged him to continue treatment.
Mr Justice Pitchford told the court, "We will not leave the appeal without expressing encouragement to the appellant to continue with the progress that he has made in the short time between November 5 and today’s hearing, since it is only if these attempts are successful that he has a worthwhile future."

The Thriller hitmaker is said to be in talks with several publishing giants in New York to land a deal which will see him record his life story.
A source tells Scottish newspaper the Daily Record, "Despite all that’s known about Michael, he is still one of our most intriguing celebrities and if he’s truly candid and reveals some good secrets, his memoirs could easily be a huge bestseller."

Hollywood actor TOM CRUISE will continue to take risks with his films - because some of his greatest achievements were once labelled "career suicide".
The star will next be seen in upcoming World War Two-themed Valkyrie, which tells the story of Claus von Stauffenberg, who attempted to assassinate German leader Adolf Hitler.
But Cruise is adamant that even though his new vehicle courts a controversial subject matter, he would prefer to be slated by critics than always opt for safe but boring parts.
He tells Details magazine, "There’s always someone telling you not to make a movie. When I did Born on the Fourth of July they said, ‘This is going to ruin your career. What are you doing?’ Suicide? BRITNEY SPEARS has announced the first dates on her upcoming world tour - just days after reportedly asking a Los Angeles court to grant her permission to embark on the global trek next year (09).
Since her breakdown earlier this year (08), the pop star is under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie, who handles all her legal and financial affairs.
And despite previously announcing plans to play a string of live dates in 2009, the star is barred from making her own business decisions and the tour was said to hang on the verdict of a judge.
Spears attended a conservatorship hearing in Los Angeles on Friday (21Nov08) to reportedly lay out plans for the live dates. She is said to have told the court commissioner she feels competent to complete the work and wants permission to go ahead with the arrangements, according to TMZ.com.
And now Spears’ representatives have confirmed the first dates on her tour, announcing shows at London’s O2 Arena in June (09).
Tickets for the performances on 3 and 4 June (09) will go on sale to British fans on 5 December (08). Spears last performed in the country in 2004.
Rob Hallett, of tour promoter AEG, says, "It’s going to be very special.
We’re creating a musical circus. Expect to see jugglers, dancers, tattooed ladies and acrobats."

Director BAZ LUHRMANN planned several different endings to his new movie AUSTRALIA before making the final decision on the film’s conclusion.
The moviemaker was recently rumoured to have scrapped the original finale because test audiences found the story too sad.
Luhrmann vehemently denied the claims, insisting movie bosses would never be able to manipulate his work.
But the director has now revealed that he was torn over how to end the picture, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, because he had so many ideas on how the tale should be wrapped up.
He tells the New York Daily News, "I really don’t want the other endings spoken about. There was another where Jackman and Kidman got married. I also shot a scene where the boy comes back and everybody’s old."

Actor JOSH BROLIN has no regrets about turning down a part in TERMINATOR SALVATION - because the final script is totally different to the one he originally read.
Brolin was offered a part in the futuristic sequel alongside the film’s star, Christian Bale. But although he liked the concept, Brolin decided against the move.
And he is convinced he made the right choice because moviemakers have drastically altered the script - meaning the picture which will eventually appear onscreen will be completely different to the film he nearly signed on to.
He tells Moviehole.net, "I really liked the script though I hear that’s not what they filmed. The one I read was very interesting and dark. Ultimately though I didn’t think it felt right.
"I saw (Bale) recently and I asked him how it was and he said, ‘It’s all right.’” Terminator Salvation is scheduled for release next year (09).

Cancer-stricken PATRICK SWAYZE defied his life-threatening illness by partying at a Chicago, Illinois nightclub, to celebrate the end of filming on his new TV show.
The Dirty Dancing star revealed he was battling pancreatic cancer at the beginning of 2008 and has since undergone treatment for the disease.
But Swayze has refused to give up his acting career, signing up to star as an undercover FBI agent in new U.S. TV show The Beast.
And after filming the final scenes for the gritty crime drama, Swayze hit Chicago’s Underground nightclub with wife Lisa Niemi and his brother John.
Swayze’s The Beast co-star, Kevin O’Connor, says, "He has so much more energy that you don’t think about his health. In fact I think I look a lot more tired than Patrick does. He is just amazing."

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. is concerned about the upcoming remake of comic book classic THE AVENGERS - urging moviemakers to get it right or "it will really suck".
The Hollywood actor has signed on to reprise his role as Iron Man Tony Stark for an appearance in the new film, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2011.
The movie will bring together Marvel superheroes Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America.
But Downey Jr. is adamant that producers need to be extra careful when making the picture, as he doesn’t want to see the movie flop.
He tells MTV.com, "It has to be the crowning blow of Marvel’s best and brightest because it’s the hardest thing to get right. It’s tough to spin all the plates for one of these characters. If they don’t get it right, it’s going to really, really suck." And Downey Jr is convinced the key to The Avengers’ success is to keep the movie realistic.
He adds, "The danger you run with colliding all these worlds is (director) Jon (Favreau) was very certain that Iron Man should be set in a very realistic world. Nothing that happened in Iron Man is really outside the realm of possibility. Once you start talking about Valhalla and supersized super soldiers and jolly green giants it warrants much further discussion.”

More than 38,000 U.K. musicians are urging British Prime Minister GORDON BROWN to back an extension to copyright laws which would protect their future income.
Veteran musicians who played on classic tracks released in the 1960s face losing their regular royalty money under current copyright laws, with performers’ copyright running out after 50 years.
The European Commission has backed copyright laws to be extended to 95 years but the U.K. has refused to support the change.
And this has led to thousands of musicians across the country pleading with Brown to back the plans - by sending him a video message.
The footage features 29 artists who have all recorded tracks for high profile stars including Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones and Madonna.
Derek Wadsworth, who has worked with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Tom Jones, says, "The amount of revenue that’s been brought into this country by these people is quite staggering. Now we require the government to help us out a little bit and show perhaps a bit of gratitude."

Former ‘N SYNC star J.C. CHASEZ has given AMERICAN IDOL runner-up DAVID ARCHULETA a big boost by quietly recording a track for the newcomer’s debut album.
The Bye, Bye, Bye singer performs backing vocals on the song Don’t Let Go the last track on Archuleta’s eponymous first LP.
He tells HollyScoop.com, "We did it very last minute, but I think the song is good. Working with him is amazing. He has such a strong feeling about who he is as an artist."
