KIDMAN SCRAPS AUSTRALIA DIARY IDEA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

NICOLE KIDMAN has scrapped plans to release the diary she kept while filming epic AUSTRALIA - because it’s far too personal.
The actress thought it would be a great idea to chronicle the making of the Baz Luhrmann film with a journal but the remote location, her on-set pregnancy and lots of time to mull over her life left Kidman pouring out all her secrets.
She says, "I was going to release the diary and then I thought, ‘No, I can’t release it, this is too personal.’ Then bits of it ended up in the press, so people have read little bits of it."

WINSLET’S DELI DELIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

KATE WINSLET was so stunned when she landed her big break in PETER JACKSON’s HEAVENLY CREATURES, she had to be escorted from the delicatessen she was working in - in hysterics.
The actress admits she had no idea that she’d landed the lead role in the 1994 film - and the phone call confirming the part was a complete shock to her.
Winslet didn’t even dare to dream she’d got the job after she realised she was just one of hundreds of hopeful teenagers up for the role.
She tells Parade magazine, "I was in the middle of making a sandwich and I had to leave work pretty much immediately.
"Somebody else had to finish making this poor guy’s sandwich, because I was hysterical. Then I had to walk home, because I had forgotten to collect my wages before I left, and I had no bus fare.” She still has fond memories of the time she spent behind the deli counter: "I made sandwiches. I cut up cheese. I ground coffee. I loved it!”

HOUSTON SUED BY STEPMOTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

WHITNEY HOUSTON’s stepmother is lining up a court battle with the pop superstar over money she claims she’s owed from her late husband’s will.
The singer was made a beneficiary to her dad’s estate when John Houston died in 2003 at the age of 82 - but Barbara Houston alleges she is entitled to a share of her late husband’s estate - and she never received it.
In a lawsuit filed in May (08), Barbara alleges her stepdaughter was instructed to use John Houston’s $1 million (GBP666,000) life insurance policy to pay off the mortgage on his apartment and hand over the title to the property and any remaining funds.
In the court papers, obtained by TMZ.com, Barbara insists she has not received a cent from the star.
Whitney has denied all the claims.

CLOONEY ‘FUMED’ OVER JACKMAN’S SEXY TITLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

GEORGE CLOONEY was ‘furious’ he missed out on People magazine’s coveted Sexiest Man Alive title, and called this year’s choice, HUGH JACKMAN in a faux rage.
Jackman was handed the honour by last week (ends21Nov08), succeeding last year’s top hunk Matt Damon, and beating Clooney who last won in 2006.
But the Ocean’s Eleven star was hoping to reclaim the title and woke Jackman with a late-night phone call to remonstrate with him.
The newly-crowned sexy star jokes, "George Clooney rang me at two in the morning. I was half asleep and I said to him, ‘Ah, George sweetie, good to hear from you.’ "He goes, ‘Shut up, Jackman, know what you did? You started this big campaign that’s been going on and (you) took the title away from me.’ "I thought that was unnecessary."

GYLLENHAAL PARENTS IN FINANCIAL MESS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

JAKE and MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL’s divorcing parents are facing financial ruin, according to new court documents charting their split.
Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Foner separated in January (08), and Foner filed for divorce last month (Oct08), seeking to formally end their 31-year marriage.
In court papers filed in Los Angeles and obtained by TMZ.com, Foner reveals how she struggled to make an income through her work as a screenwriter, and had to take out a loan to survive during the 2007/2008 Writer’s Guild of America Strike.
But she claims she has been left with all the mortgage and insurance payments on the former couple’s four homes, because her estranged husband - an acclaimed TV director - is refusing to help.
She writes that, "During our marriage, our expenses tended to outpace our income. Accordingly, we accumulated a certain amount of debt.
"I have repeatedly asked Stephen to pay his one-half share of our bills, and he has refused to do so.
"As recently as the end of September Stephen has told me that he recognises ‘that things are reaching a really dangerous point in terms of the finances…
I can’t be clearer that you can’t expect me to help any more with this situation.’ He further stated, ‘I have been clear that worse comes to worse, I will let all of this collapse into ruin, just as I believe letting the markets crash and burn are the right approach. Pain now for clarity and balance later.’" Foner is asking her estranged husband to cover half the couple’s debts to "avoid default on any of them." The court documents state the couple has been married for over 30 years.
Foner cites irreconcilable differences for the split.

TWILIGHT star PETER FACINELLI is urging single men looking for love to check out the vampire movie - because it could land them a date for Christmas.
Young girls are flocking to see the romantic movie, which debuted at the top of the U.S. box office last weekend (23Nov08) - and the actor, who plays the patriarch of a vampire ‘family’ in the film, believes Twilight screenings are a great place for love to blossom.
He tells WENN, "I’m glad that girls like the movie but I hope that boys go out and see the movie. I think it has a bit of everything for everybody.
"It’s got the action and the vampires for the boys and the love story for the girls. Also if you’re a single guy out there the best place to be is in the movie theatre. You can find a date at Twilight."

SIMPSON AND WENTZ’ JUNGLE BOOK BABY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

New parents ASHLEE SIMPSON and PETE WENTZ gave their baby son the middle name MOWGLI, because they fell in love over the JUNGLE BOOK.
Bronx Mowgli was welcomed into the world on Thursday (20Nov08) at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The choice of names has left fans and celebrity pals scratching their heads.
Wentz reveals Mowgli was inspired by the lead character in Rudyard Kipling’s classic story - but he’s refusing to reveal why they chose Bronx, also the name of one of New York’s five boroughs.
Speaking on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Tuesday (25Nov08), Wentz says, "The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over. It’s a cool name.
"We came up with the idea Bronx. We’ve been throwing (ideas) back and forth for a while. It’s kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is. People are stoked or p**sed or whatever… I don’t think anyone really has the real story."

JONAS BROTHERS THANK FANS WITH STAR-STUDDED LAST-MINUTE GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

The JONAS BROTHERS treated fans to a last-minute post-American Music Awards concert in Hollywood on Sunday night (23Nov08), which they booked just the day before.
Just hours after the trio claimed the AMA’s Favourite Breakthrough Artist award in Los Angeles, the Jonases took to the stage at the House of Blues on Sunset Strip to perform a free three-hour show, packed with guests and celebrities.
According to Eonline.com, the Jonas Brothers only promoted the concert on their MySpace.com page and in pre-AMA radio interviews on Saturday (22Nov08), but the fans heard all about it and started lining up outside the venue even before the start of the awards show across town.
The trio performed a string of hits and covered John Mayer’s Gravity, Tom Petty’s Freefallin’ and Bob Marley’s Waiting in Vain, as well as Kanye West’s Heartless.
Their Camp Rock co-star Demi Lovato joined them onstage to perform Mayer’s Daughters with her pals and Jordin Sparks was a highlight when she stepped out to perform Stevie Wonder’s Superstition with the boys.
Jesse McCartney also joined in the fun, as did Blues Brothers star Dan Aykroyd, who teamed up with the brothers for a cover of Bo Diddley’s hit Who Do You Love? The impromptu show ended with a version of the Beatles’ Hey Jude, performed by the Jonas Brothers and all their guests.

ESTELLE’S PARENTS TO WED AFTER 20-YEAR SPLIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

R&B sensation ESTELLE’s parents are to marry in 2009 more than 20 years after they split - and her father walked away from the family.
The American Boy hitmaker admits she realised her mother still had feelings for her ex - her birth father - when she watched her face "light up" during a reunion.
And Estelle, who claims she was abused by her now ex-stepfather, couldn’t be happier for her mum, even if her real dad deserted her and her siblings growing up.
The singer, who didn’t reconnect with her estranged father until she was 23, tells Sister 2 Sister magazine, "I think they were in love the whole time. The way he is around her, the way he acts… If you can accept someone and all their crazy, 20 years of crazy men, imagine my mom with that baggage, and him and his bulls**t.
"He’s been with crazy women too. I have other sisters who I don’t know or even care to know and he’s been through it too." Estelle is impressed her father didn’t try to take over the family when he started romancing his ex-wife again.
She adds, "The way he approached it, which I think is the best way, is not on a ‘I’m your dad’ (way), because, number one, I would have just laughed.
"I don’t call him every time I go home because we’re not that. He doesn’t stress about it.
"He doesn’t have a, ‘Why won’t she accept me as her dad?’ I’m like, ‘You’re a great man; you’re not my daddy.’"

FOSTER EXPOSES MUSIC GREATS IN NEW TELL-ALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

WHITNEY HOUSTON, MADONNA and PAIL McCARTNEY are among a long list of music legends whose bizarre behaviour is exposed in a new tell-all book by music mogul DAVID FOSTER.
The Grammy-winning producer writes about their alleged antics in his new memoir, Hitman.
In the book, he calls former Beatle Paul McCartney "one of those musicians who needed to be reminded of his greatness".
Remembering his collaboration with the legend, he writes, "(McCartney was) a little like being on a bad date. Ten bad dates, maybe." According to Foster, he didn’t see even a "hint" of drug use by Whitney Houston - whose erratic behaviour in more recent years has sparked rumours of drug abuse.
Though he adds, "She and hubby Bobby Brown certainly seemed addicted to each other… When Bobby was gone, she’d begin to fade." But Foster admits there was a more distinct duality when he worked in the studio with Madonna - who divorced from her husband of eight years, director Guy Ritchie, earlier this month (Nov08).
Foster admits he told the pop star he didn’t approve of the guy-on-guy kissing featured in her 1991 film Truth or Dare, and she quipped, "If that bothered you, you’re too square for me. You represent everything I’m trying to change." But in a rare, and more somber moment, she confessed, "I just need a man. I need to be with a real man."

REPUBLICAN KID ROCK WILL BACK OBAMA’S PRESIDENCY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

Republican supporter KID ROCK has voiced his backing for U.S. President-elect BARACK OBAMA - declaring the Democrat’s election win as "a great thing for black people".
The All Summer Long rocker, who had previously pledged his allegiance to President George W. Bush, insists he is happy to see Obama make history as the first African-American to become the head of state.
And he hopes the Illinois senator’s victory at the polls earlier this month (Nov08) will change the world’s view of America as a "racist" nation.
The Michigan-born singer says, "I’m patriotic so I’m just happy the people’s voice has been heard. I will support him until I have reason not to.
"It’s a great thing for black people. Black people were kind to me growing up and taught me hip-hop and the blues, so it’s good the U.S. has proved it’s not as racist as it’s sometimes portrayed."

PAMMY PLANS TO GO SERIOUS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

PAMELA ANDERSON is ready to ditch her image as a sexy blonde pin-up - so she can reinvent herself as a serious actress.
Now she’s 41, the former Baywatch babe is keen to keep her clothes on and be a better role model for her two sons.
And that means more straight acting roles, instead of reality shows like her disastrous recent stint in Pam: Girl on the Loose.
A source tells America’s Star magazine, "Pam felt her management team just saw her as a sexy pin-up, and she wants to be taken more seriously."

SPEARS HONOURED IN GERMANY FOR ‘STUNNING COMEBACK’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

BRITNEY SPEARS’ long awaited comeback has landed her a new award for her mantelpiece - organisers of a German media event will honour her return to music this month (Nov08).
The singer, 26, has been named as the recipient of the Bambi award for Best International Pop Star - an annual television and media prize awarded by the Hubert Burda Media Group.
Event organisers have hailed Spears as an inspiration after she bounced back following a tumultuous last 12 months - which has seen her lose custody of her kids to ex-husband Kevin Federline, shave off all her hair, and endure two stints in hospital.
The Toxic hitmaker will collect her award at the ceremony on Thursday (27Nov08), when she will also perform.
Event host Hubert Burda says, "Britney Spears is back. Radiant and better than ever, the erstwhile teenie (sic) idol has reclaimed her throne." Another official adds, "Her stunning comeback from an absolute low point impressed all of us." Spears’ new album Circus is scheduled for release on 2 December (08) - to mark her 27th birthday.

VICK PLEADS GUILTY TO DOGFIGHTING CHARGES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

Jailed American football star MICHAEL VICK has pleaded guilty to further dogfighting charges, in a bid to hasten his return to the sport.
The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback, 28, is currently serving a 23-month sentence following his 2007 conviction for criminal conspiracy, stemming from allegations he bankrolled a dogfighting operation from a home he owned in Virginia.
He has remained under indictment for two further dogfighting and animal cruelty charges.
But at a court hearing on Tuesday (25Nov08), Vick entered a guilty plea in exchange for a three-year suspended sentence.
He is scheduled for release on 20 July (09) and will serve three years probation.
The plea deal could potentially speed up his return to the NFL, as Federal law prohibits prisoners from being released to a halfway house if there are unresolved charges pending.
Addressing the court, Vick said, "I want to apologise to the court, my family, and to all the kids who looked up to me as a role model." His lawyer, Billy Martin, adds, "Any time in prison is hell. Michael’s been punished. He knows what he did was wrong." Since the conviction, Vick has fought another legal battle in bankruptcy court, after losing nearly all of the $130 million (£86.7 million) he earned as part of a 10-year deal signed with the Atlanta Falcons in December 2004.
