Country star KEITH URBAN has ruled out a foray into acting after witnessing first hand how hard actress wife NICOLE KIDMAN worked on the set of AUSTRALIA.
Urban had reportedly been keen to star alongside his Oscar-winning spouse on the big screen - but the singer insists he has no plans to trade in his microphone for a movie script.
He says, "I can tell you, having gone on the set and watched Nicole, I have so much respect for what they do. It’s certainly not my calling. I’m going to stay in the recording studio."

Funnyman GEORGE LOPEZ and MILEY CYRUS’ father BILLY RAY CYRUS are to team up as evil secret agents in a new JACKIE CHAN movie.
The odd couple will star in the comedy The Spy Next Door, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, which centres around Chan’s character protecting his neighbour’s children from the secret agents, is set to hit movie screens in 2010.

The cast and crew on the set of new film FROST/NIXON were instructed to call FRANK LANGELLA Mr. President in between takes - so the actor could stay in character as former U.S. leader RICHARD NIXON.
Langella admits he was deeply affected by playing the former president and asked director Ron Howard to ask everyone on the set to respect his character during filming.
He tells WENN, "When I came out of my trailer I was always as Nixon. I never broke character on the set. The company related to me that way. They all called me Mr. President.
"I said to Ron in the rehearsal period that it might be a good idea for me if I stay inside the character when I’m on the set so that people react differently to the president, differently than they would react to anybody else.
"If I just walk on and say, ‘Hi guys, how ya doing’, which is really what I like to do and just banter and go to the craft table and stuff, it might be more difficult for everyone to relate to me as the president.
"So, every time I had the door open to the trailer I was Nixon until I went back in again. That was very helpful to me and I think very helpful to the company. When I came out of the trailer the Assistant Director who walked me to the set would say, ‘Good morning Mr. President’. Ron had obviously spread the word through the company so for those 40 days or so it was really wonderful to be the king."

British actor JEREMY IRONS is set to star in a reality TV show that will document his attempts at mastering the Irish fiddle.
The Oscar winner has allowed cameras into his Kilcoe Castle home in Cork, Ireland, to watch him as he attempts to become an accomplished fiddle player for the show, titled Faoi Lan Cheoil.
In the series, to be shown on Irish TV, eight celebrities are followed around as they try to learn a musical instrument in order to play a set in front of a live audience.

Actor GERARD BUTLER has been given the chance to resolve his recent fight with a paparazzo without facing criminal charges.
The Scottish star stands accused of beating up a photographer who followed him as he left a Los Angeles bar last month (Oct08).
The snapper was reportedly treated in hospital for the injuries he suffered.
According to TMZ.com, Butler, who has yet to discuss the allegations, has been ordered to attend an informal hearing at the City Attorney’s office, the goal of which is to resolve the issue without a messy court battle.

Moviemaker BAZ LUHRMANN returned to his music roots to compose and record the final theme for his AUSTRALIA epic with ELTON JOHN, folk star JOHN BUTLER and Aussie treasure ROLF HARRIS.
The director and Elton John came up with the lyrics and music for the powerful tune, which plays over the end credits - and Butler, Harris and Luhrmann recorded the track.
Luhrmann says, "I’ve actually done some music myself so this wasn’t so amazing. There’s a young gent who is an assistant of mine and we wrote lyrics with Elton John on the drover’s ballad.
"We have a really groovy folk music Australian player called John Butler and there is an Australian icon who, in England, has had as many number ones as The Beatles called Rolf Harris, who plays wobbleboard. "

VELVET REVOLVER star DUFF McKAGAN has revealed he and his bandmates are struggling to find a permanent replacement for fired frontman SCOTT WEILAND.
Weiland was kicked out of the group in April (08) following a series of public spats, and now, seven months later, Velvet Revolver’s main men McKagan, Matt Sorum and Slash are still trying to sign up a replacement.
McKagan admits former Spacehog singer Royston Langdon came close, but "there was just something that was missing, and it wasn’t anything that he could have done differently." And the bassist reveals, "A ton of singers, through our management, have turned in their vocals on two songs of ours that aren’t released.
"Once you get up over, say, 40 singers, it’s hard to listen… and distinguish them all. If you sit down and listen to 10 guys, you’re not giving the tenth guy the same listen you are the first guy. So we’ve gotta figure out how to go about this.
"I don’t think any of the guys we’ve heard so far are ‘the’ guy, and I don’t think we can go out with a guy who’s just good. We have to have somebody that’s amazing."

TRAVIS BARKER has defended his decision to sue the owners of the jet that crashed in September (08), killing four people and leaving him badly burned insisting he deserves compensation for the emotional and physical trauma he suffered.
The rocker was almost killed when the Learjet he was a passenger on failed to clear the runway at a South Carolina airport and burst into flames. Only Barker and bandmate Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein survived.
Barker tells E! News, "I wouldn’t have been in the state I was in if I wasn’t in the crash. You know, I wouldn’t have third degree burns all over my body or be prohibited to do certain things. I can’t go swimming, I can’t do some of the things that normal people can do. I didn’t ask for that to happen.
"If something goes wrong that’s not supposed to go wrong, or you fall victim of it, I think you should be compensated." But Barker insists no sum will replace the two friends he lost in the crash assistant Christ Baker and pal Charles Still: "Nothing can bring them back or what I lost in the accident." Barker filed a wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit against Clay Lacy Aviation last week (ends21Nov08). He is asking for damages for "pain and suffering, mental anguish, psychological and emotional distress and disfigurement."

BLACK SABBATH founder TONY IOMMI has been honoured with a star on his native Birmingham’s Walk of Stars.
Driving rain failed to prevent the 60-year-old rocker and his fans from braving the elements at the ceremony, held on the English city’s Broad Street on Sunday (23Nov08).
Iommi told his fans, "Thanks ever so much for coming and for standing in this awful weather." He added that he’s proud "to be a Brummie and I’m proud to say I’m from Birmingham." Former Black Sabbath bandmate Ozzy Osbourne became the first celebrity to be honoured on the Walk of Stars.

British R&B sensation ESTELLE left home at 19 because she was tired of the fights between her mother and stepfather.
The American Boy singer admits she "got sick" of seeing her mother "go through some crazy s**t" with her husband - and she insists her decision to move out inspired her mum to move on.
Estelle tells the new issue of America’s Sister 2 Sister magazine, "She got divorced when I was 22." The star admits her former stepfather would never beat his wife - but he took out his anger on her nine kids: "(He’d) act like it was cool to beat me at 19… It was just like he would take it out on us.
"(For me) it was like, ‘You know what? Do that with someone else’s kids.’" And the abuse Estelle and her mother experienced has made the singer a better judge of character when it comes to the men she dates.
She found herself dating a man just like her stepfather shortly after she moved away from home.
The singer recalls, "When she (mother) left him, I was with this guy… It was like, ‘You know what? You’re just a repeat of my stepdad. I started seeing myself become my mum.
"I (even) cleaned up the house like her. I’ve got the couch and s**t." "(I was) like, ‘Am I really doing the double of my stepdad? This guy… seems different, but he is in the house, not working, not trying to work, hanging out." She eventually kicked her slacker boyfriend out when she realised he was dealing drugs - and she was facing a scandal that would wreck her career.
Estelle explains, "I was top 20, people knew my face, knew my name… and he was out hustling.
"I was like, ‘Are you insane? Do you want the police to come and knock down my door and I be in the papers (sic)? Because you’re not going to be in the papers. It’s going to be me - another black artist into drugs.’ "I said, ‘I’m not risking my life for this f**king guy. You’re not worth that much to me.’ "Then he came at me with, ‘I want to have kids,’ and I was like, ‘With what money?’ I was like, ‘No, you have to go. You need to get out.’ "I had to check myself later: ‘Why was I with that guy for three years? What the hell.’" But Estelle admits she’s still looking for the perfect guy for her - because so many remind her of her stepfather.
She explains, "I went through a series of, ‘Maybe this is different - nope, same guy. Oh maybe - nope.’"

JESSICA SIMPSON put pen to paper to cure her of the heartbreak following her split from husband NICK LACHEY - because writing in her diary was "therapeutic" for the star.
The Texan singer, who divorced Lachey in 2002 after three years of marriage, found it helpful to keep a journal of her thoughts and feelings.
And Simpson later used the emotional entries as inspiration for her music.

Rapper KANYE WEST channeled Eighties rockers PHIL COLLINS, THE POLICE and BOY GEORGE for inspiration for his new album 808S & HEARTBREAKS.
The Stronger hitmaker takes a new musical direction for his latest LP, singing instead of rapping on the majority of the tracks - and he admits he listened to a lot of different styles of music as he experimented to perfect a stripped down sound.
He tells MTV News, "I listened to Phil Collins, Boy George, The Police, Gary Numan. I ended up getting more polished as a designer, you know I designed the tracks.
"I’m kind of a minimalist - the more and more skilled I get at interior design and architecture stuff, the things that appeal to me are very minimal but functional spaces so I wanted my tracks to be minimal but functional."

Filmmaker STEVEN SODERBERGH is giving a porn star her big Hollywood break after casting her in the starring role in his next movie.
Sasha Grey - whose previous movie credits include Anal Acrobats 3 and Blow Me Sandwich 11 - will play the protagonist in Girlfriend Experience, about a high class call girl whose life unravels.
Explaining the project to Interview magazine, the Oscar-winning director says, "(It’s) about someone who feels as though she is in absolute control of the way that her life works and, over the course of a week, comes to realise that’s not true.
"It’s a subject I’ve been totally interested in since the beginning of my career. This is just a milieu that I’ve never explored before."

Hollywood star NICOLE KIDMAN enjoys a quiet life with husband KEITH URBAN in Tennessee, because the couple is hardly ever bothered by overzealous fans.
The actress wed country singer Urban in 2006 and they welcomed baby daughter Sunday Rose in July (08).
They have set up home in a ranch just outside of Nashville - and The Hours star admits she loves the anonymity that comes with living in the area.
She says, "We never get bothered, and the people are incredibly friendly and easygoing.
"It really has been a perfect match for me. I don’t want to go on too much about it to the rest of the world because then more people will come here. It’s a secret. She recalls, "Or if they did, they didn’t say, and that is lovely." Now Kidman hopes little Sunday will develop a strong bond with her birthplace, adding, "I hope she has a Southern accent."
