50 CENT’S HOLLYWOOD HOPES UNDER OBAMA’S REGIME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Rapper 50 CENT is hoping BARACK OBAMA’s election victory will help his budding acting career - by striking a blow against racism in Hollywood.
Fiddy claims that, despite the success of African-American stars such as Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington, there is still a black and white divide within the movie industry.
But he is hopeful the presence of a black man in the White House will help tear down some walls.
The star - who has appeared in movies Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and Righteous Kill - says, "There’s two Hollywood. There’s white Hollywood and there’s black Hollywood. Those lines are still there, but this is a step to getting rid of those lines."

ANISTON PRAISED BY MAYER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

JENNIFER ANISTON’s rocker boyfriend JOHN MAYER has confessed his admiration for the star to the press, days after the actress insisted he was done talking about their relationship.
Earlier this week (beg10Nov08) Aniston insisted Mayer had learned his lesson when he spoke up to paparazzi about their split in the late summer (08).
In an interview with Vogue magazine, the Friends star was adamant that "people need to mind their own business" and stop reporting on her personal life.
But Mayer has been unable to shy from his feelings since their recent reconciliation.
He tells People.com, "It’s really nice to have somebody in life have your back. That girl knows me… so whether I go to bed alone or not, to have somebody who knows you in this world, that’s a really nice thing."

RELATIVE BLAMES ABDUL FOR DEATH OF IDOL CONTESTANT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

The brother of the AMERICAN IDOL contestant found dead near PAULA ABDUL’s home has blamed the star for the tragic incident.
Police found the body of 30-year-old Paula Goodspeed in a parked car in Abdul’s Sherman Oaks, California neighbourhood - and pronounced her dead at the scene on Tuesday (11Nov08).
Goodspeed’s brother, Charles McIntyre, has disputed tentative police reports she committed suicide in her car and has blamed the Idol judge for crushing her dreams of stardom.
Goodspeed auditioned for season five of the hit U.S. reality show in 2006 but did not make it past the initial stage.
McIntyre tells the New York Post, "(Abdul) didn’t speak up for her. She let everyone take her down. She said she was ’speechless’, when she could have said something in her defence.
"When someone sees you on American Idol being told you’re no good… her career just went downtown after that." A spokesperson for Abdul has declined to comment.

ELTON JOHN’S BILLY ELLIOT OPENS TO RAVE REVIEWS ON BROADWAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN’s Broadway musical BILLY ELLIOT has taken its success from the London stage and opened to rave reviews on Broadway.
The show got off to a shaky start when a preview performance last month (Oct08) had to be cancelled just minutes before its start due to technical problems.
But that hasn’t stopped critics from praising the cast, crew and John’s own efforts to take on the New York stage with his dance show’s Broadway debut on Thursday (13Nov08).
One critic for the New York Times calls the show "one of the freshest, most exciting uses of narrative dance I’ve seen in years".
While another from USA Today writes, "Director Stephen Daldry and his company infuse them with irresistible heart", adding: "Peter Darling’s choreography makes the raw, restless exuberance of youth accessible to all." But reports from the New York Daily News add that the show may need some tweaking and should rely less on the cheerfulness of its young actors David Alvarez, 14, Kiril Kulish, 14 and Trent Kowalik, 13 - who alternate in the role of Billy Elliot.
The critic adds, "Even a few stumbles can’t spoil a show that’s so sweet and exhilarating that at times you feel like leaping."

STILLER EMBARRASSED BY MANHOOD ROAST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

BEN STILLER was left red-faced at a celebrity roast in New York this week when ROBERT DE NIRO told the A-list crowd the comedy star has a small penis.
De Niro, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Tom Cruise, Mike Myers and Judd Apatow all paid mocking tribute to the actor/director at the Museum of Moving Image on Wednesday night (12Nov08).
And De Niro managed the roast of the night, by claiming his Meet the Parents co-star is lacking in the underpants department.
The Raging Bull star claims Stiller exposed himself when he slipped into a pair of Speedos in the 2000 comedy.
He said, "You expect him to be flabby and pale. But he’s actually totally buff. But he overcomes this contradiction by having a really tiny… And in that suit, it’s apparent to everyone."

MCCARTNEY GIVEN ROYAL BACKING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has been given the royal seal of approval - with a dedication from QUEEN ELIZABETH II’s official composer.
The Beatles legend has received a prestigious nod from Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, who holds the post of Master of the Queen’s Music in the U.K.
Davies is responsible for writing music to commemorate important state events.
And he has shown his respect for McCartney - by dedicating his latest piece, Liber Pulsationis Fabulatoris, in recognition of the rocker’s contribution to music.
The 20-minute choral work will be performed at Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral next month (Dec08).
He says, "Paul is as great as Schubert and still has not received the full recognition that his talent deserves. This country has produced one of the greatest musical talents ever and we should appreciate and celebrate that loudly."

FORSTER TO TACKLE ZOMBIE FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

BOND director MARC FORSTER is eyeing up his next mission - he is to film a big screen adaptation of Max Brooks’ best-selling novel WORLD WAR Z.
The filmmaker pointedly turned down the chance to make a follow-up to Quantum of Solace because he wanted to concentrate on different movie genres.
And he faces a huge change in direction with World War Z - it tells the grisly tale of zombies trying to take over the world.
He will be in the director’s chair while Brad Pitt takes over production duties for the film.
Forster says, "The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the ’70s like All The President’s Men."

HUDSON SEEN SMILING IN NEW HOLIDAY AD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

JENNIFER HUDSON is fronting a cheerful holiday commercial featured across the U.S. less than a month after the tragic deaths of her mother, brother and nephew.
Hudson’s mother Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason, were found shot dead at their home in Chicago, Illinois on 24 October (08), three days before her seven-year-old nephew, Julian King, was found dead in an abandoned car after a brutal killing spree.
The main suspect in the case, William Balfour, who was married to the Oscar winner’s sister Julia, is still being quizzed by officers over the slayings.
But, in spite of her grief, Hudson has put on a brave face for a new holiday campaign commercial with casual-wear retailer Gap, despite being given the option to back out.
The ad features a smiling photo of the actress, wearing a bright red sweater.
The store giant’s spokesperson Olive Doyne tells E! Online, "She said she wanted to be a part of it and that we should move forward." Balfour lost a bid for freedom on last week (10Nov08) after the Illinois Parole Board found "probable cause" for him to remain behind bars until next month (Dec08).

ABDUL FAN ‘SENT FLOWERS BEFORE HER DEATH’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

The AMERICAN IDOL contestant found dead outside PAULA ABDUL’s home had reportedly sent the TV judge flowers just days before the tragedy.
Abdul is said to have received a bouquet last week (begs03Nov08) with a note attached that read: "Love, J.T. Hope you’re doing great. Here’s my new cell number." The singer assumed the gift was from her former beau J.T. Torregiani - but when he told her he had not changed his phone number, she realised it was from obsessed fan Paula Goodspeed.
A source tells People.com, "The flower thing was really scary - Paula really couldn’t handle that. She was terrified." Goodspeed was found dead in her car close to Abdul’s home in Sherman Oaks, California on Tuesday (11Nov08) evening. Police believe she died from a drug overdose.
She is said to have become obsessed with Abdul after a brief audition on American Idol.
But a niece of Goodspeed’s denied she had been stalking Abdul - and refuted claims she changed her name from Sandra to Paula because of her attachment to the star.
Sonja McIntyre tells People.com, "She just liked the name Paula… She was a good person. She’d give the shirt off her back for anyone who needed it. She was not suicidal."

SIGLER HAPPY SHE DIDN’T HAVE CHILDREN WITH EX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

Former SOPRANOS star JAMIE-LYNN SIGLER is "glad" she didn’t have children with her ex-husband - as she was too young and "misguided" to start a family.
The 27-year-old actress married her agent, A.J. DiScala, in 2003 but they split just two years later.
And Sigler is happy she didn’t follow her initial instinct to have a baby with her former partner - because she can now enjoy her twenties as a single woman.
She tells New York Post’s Page Six magazine, "(I was) often misguided and misled. When I was 21 or 22 and just getting into the world. I didn’t know who I was. I was living in an idealistic dream world - like, ‘I have a successful show and this handsome man, and I’m 22 and I’m getting married and may have a baby next year!’ But, man, am I glad we didn’t have children."
