Actor RYAN O’NEAL and his son have delayed entering pleas in their felony drug cases until next year (09).
The Oscar-nominated actor, 67, and his 23-year-old son Redmond appeared in court on Thursday morning (13Nov08), where their attorneys asked for more time to review evidence.
The pair were arrested at their Malibu, California home in September (08) after police discovered narcotics on Redmond’s person and in Ryan’s bedroom during a raid.
The actor’s attorney has denied the drugs belonged to his client.
Both men are scheduled to return to court on 9 January (09).

Teen star TAYLOR SWIFT has another career in mind if she tires of singing country music - she hasn’t let go of her dreams of becoming a surgeon.
The 18-year-old singer marked her success as a country star when she was handed the Country Song Of The Year gong at the BMI Country Awards on Tuesday night (11Nov08).
But Swift still clings to her tutor’s hopes she would pursue a career in medicine.
She says, "I was so proud of this in high school - I won the best dissector award in biology. I have that little piece of paper in my wallet, from ninth grade.

MASTODON rocker BILL KELLIHER has quit the band’s European tour and checked into a London hospital suffering from a mystery illness.
The heavy rock group has been forced to continue its European Unholy Alliance Chapter III Tour as a three-piece while doctors carry out tests on the guitarist, who was admitted on 3 November (08).
A spokesperson for the band tells Spin.com, "At this point all we know is that Bill was not feeling well upon arrival to the UK and went to the hospital where doctors are running tests now.
"Doctors and Bill are hopeful that he will rejoin his bandmates in time for their headlining tour of Europe, which begins Nov. 30 in Utrecht, Holland." Mastodon are touring with fellow rock groups Slayer, Trivium, and Amon Amarth.

Late musician JERRY GARCIA will be remembered in a forthcoming film about his rise to fame before becoming the legendary frontman of the GRATEFUL DEAD.
Garcia - who formed the psychedelic rock band in 1965 - served as lead guitarist and vocalist of the group before his tragic death at age 53.
Struggling with heroin addiction, Garcia was residing in a drug rehabilitation facility when he died of a heart attack in August 1995.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, a group of film producers has acquired the movie rights to Dark Star, an oral history of Garcia’s life.
A production schedule for the project has yet to be released.

Rocker SCOTT WEILAND vented the hurt and frustration of the collapse of his marriage to model MARY FORSBERG by writing a new solo album.
The Stone Temple Pilots singer reveals Happy in Galoshes is an honest emotional account of the 2007 separation, because he disappeared to the recording studio every time things got too much.
He tells MTV, "Most of the heavy writing that was done for this record has been done (during the) separation… between my wife and I.
"In those moments of emotional desperation, my studio would become my home, really. It’s a massive warehouse place that used to be a heavy-machinery factory, which originally reeked of thick machine oil. I’ve had the studio for about 10 years, and it’s like my art studio. It’s a place where I have gone for solace. It’s like my church, in a sense.
"When people ask me if I have a hobby, a lot of times my answer is that I like to surf in warm water. I like to ski, if I have the opportunity. But really, I like to go to my studio and write music that I want to write, where there’s no pressure to come up with a hit single."

JOHN MAYER is in talks with network executives to take his singing talents to the small screen - as the host of a weekly variety show.
The singer/songwriter is reportedly in negotiations with U.S. TV network CBS to rock out with American TV audiences on a new 1960s-inspired music, variety and comedy sketch series.
According to Web site TMZ.com, Mayer will co-produce the show with Ken Ehrlich, who heads production of the Emmy and Grammy Awards.
Network executives reportedly plan to launch the show early next year (09).

A stalker who terrorised SANDRA BULLOCK and dumped pieces of animal fur in the star’s backyard has been sentenced to three years’ probation.
Marcia Valentine left "weird signs" in the Speed actress’ garden, planted fur in her palm trees and hurled abuse at her husband Jesse James when he tried to note her licence plate.
Bullock was so terrified that she obtained a restraining order in 2007 banning Valentine from contacting her or visiting her home in Sunset Beach, California.
Valentine, 47, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour charge of stalking earlier this month (Nov08) and has been ordered to undertake three years’ probation. A felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon was dropped.

The Pulp Fiction star admits he lusts after the 63-year-old actress, who famously played Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen.

McCartney says, "Eleanor Rigby is a totally fictitious character that I made up. If someone wants to spend money buying a document to prove a fictitious character exists, that’s fine with me." JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE has reportedly ended his hunt for a New York home after entering negotiations on a $5.25 million (£3.5 million) condo in the city.
Timberlake - who lives with girlfriend Jessica Biel in his Los Angeles mansion - has reportedly been on the hunt for a Manhattan pad since September (08).
And according to the New York Post, the SexyBack singer has gone to contract on a three-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot loft located in the city’s downtown district of TriBeCa.
The apartment reportedly features a 52-foot-long living/dining area and 14 floor-to-ceiling windows with sprawling views overlooking the Hudson River.
A spokesperson for Timberlake declined to comment.

HUGH JACKMAN’s acting success has helped him brush off the world’s economic crisis - he has spent $21 million (£14.2 million) on a New York apartment.
The Aussie actor can now call a host of celebrities his neighbours in his new West Village apartment - home to the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bundchen and Liv Tyler.
The 11,000-square-foot space boasts a double-height living room overlooking the Hudson River, five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two powder rooms, a professional kitchen, a 51-by-16-foot master bedroom, exercise, recreation and music rooms, a library, and multiple terraces.
But the hefty price tag was agreed upon only after Jackman, who had been renting a home in the building, talked down owners from the original asking price - a whopping $40 million (£26.9 million).
Listing broker Roger Erickson of Sotheby’s had no comment.

TV executives at hit U.S. series DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES have denied claims they’ve offered a spot on the show to controversial former vice-presidential candidate SARAH PALIN.
The show’s stars Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria Parker, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan were rumoured to share the small screen with the Alaskan Governor in an attempt by their bosses to boost ratings.
Hollywood publicist Hal Lifson tells the New York Post that series creator Marc Cherry is "very hot to trot to have her appear on the season-five finale".
Lifson, who is not involved with the show, adds, "Marc is highly enamoured of Sarah and sees her as the ultimate guest star (playing) a similar version of herself. The idea has gone over surprisingly well with execs at Disney, who see it as a blockbuster based on Sarah’s huge ratings on Saturday Night Live." The mother-of-five’s cameo on the comedy sketch show last month (18Oct08) sent ratings soaring.
But a spokesperson for Desperate Housewives network ABC has denied she is lined up for an appearance, adding: "There’s no truth to it." Cherry has declined to comment.

Movie executives have played down reports that a feud with director BAZ LUHRMANN over his epic film AUSTRALIA has put the project in jeopardy just days before its world premiere.
The Moulin Rouge moviemaker has spent four years filming the $130 million (£87.6 million) project, starring Australian actors Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman - who play lovers during the Second World War.
Luhrmann admitted this week (beg10Nov08) that he must fly from the U.S. to Sydney, Australia to finish editing the film, refuting claims studio bosses demanded he reshoot the ending.
A source who has reportedly seen a rough edit tells the New York Post, "Fox wanted more love scenes and development between Nicole and Hugh’s characters, so they tried to splice that in. Now it’s disjointed." But a Fox spokesperson has denied the last-minute rift, adding: "It’s far from a mess, and other than Oprah’s (Winfrey) audience, who saw a rough, unfinished print, no one has seen it yet." The film is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday (18Nov08).

Singer JEWEL has leapt to the defence of controversial politician SARAH PALIN, days after she lost the American vote as the potential vice-president elect.
The Who Will Save Your Soul star, who grew up in Governor Palin’s state of Alaska, is a staunch supporter of women’s rights.
And she’s spoken out against attacks made by fellow musicians including Akon and Grace Jones that Palin wasn’t ready to step into office.
She tells the New York Daily News, "Alaskan women are very can-do women.
We’re the pioneer state! The women who settled (in) Alaska had a large role in shaping it. The way I was raised, I never thought I was any different than boys. You can really see that in Sarah Palin."

Singer/actress ADRIENNE BAILON has reportedly been offered the chance to pose in a photo spread for Playboy magazine, days after her alleged nude photo leak was exposed as a publicity stunt.
The Cheetah Girls star threatened to take legal action against a thief who allegedly leaked naked pictures of her onto the internet after claiming her laptop was stolen at a New York airport this week (beg10Nov08).
Her publicist Jonathan Jaxson has since claimed the pair concocted the story to help boost 25-year-old Bailon’s profile among adult audiences.
Talking to Foxnews.com, Jaxson said: "After the laptop was stolen, we used it as an opportunity to drum up some publicity and start speculating about nude photos, but we never expected anything to get out." And the incident has reportedly attracted the attention of bosses at Playboy magazine, with columnists at the New York Post’s PageSix alleging they have obtained a copy of a contract sent to the star.
According to the newspaper, Bailon has been offered $100,000 (£67,399) to pose for "stylish photos with full nudity in a sufficient quantity and quality".

SIR ELTON JOHN wants America to scrap the word "marriage" - in a bid to overturn a ban on same-sex weddings.
Gay marriages were legalised in California in May (08), but the legislation was reversed last week (04Nov08) when the majority of voters backed Proposition 8, a bill to reintroduce the ban.
And at an AIDS Foundation event in New York this week (begs10Nov08), the Rocket Man legend spoke of his own union to longtime partner David Furnish urging Americans to banish the word "marriage" to make gay nuptials more acceptable.
He tells Access Hollywood, "David and I have a civil partnership in England.
We have complete rights between the two of us, we’re protected completely. I think the word ‘marriage’ puts a lot of people off in this country.
"If they got over the word ‘marriage,’ I think it would be a lot easier for gay people to get together."
