SPRINGSTEEN SUPPORTS HIS LOCAL FOOD BANK
Rocker BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN is helping to feed the needy in his native New Jersey, by backing a new campaign to boost the supplies of a local food bank.
The star will appear in a newspaper advert for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, encouraging his neighbours in the state to help the non-profit organisation survive the current economic downturn.
Food bank bosses estimate the financial crisis has swelled the number of those in need of food by 30 per cent, and they admit supplies may have to be rationed for the first time.
Springsteen is a long-time supporter of the cause, and has, in the past, donated concert proceeds and encouraged fans to bring food donations to gigs.
