STATHAM CONSIDERS DAREDEVIL RE-DO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

Tough guy JASON STATHAM wants to show BEN AFFLECK how to be a proper DAREDEVIL.
The Brit was linked to a remake of Affleck’s 2003 film when fans of the comicbook hero spotted him and creator Frank Miller in a bar, and Statham admits the idea isn’t too far fetched.
He tells WENN, "Someone thought it would be a good combination and I thought maybe it would. I’m a big comicbook fan and Daredevil, the one that got made not so long ago, I thought they could’ve done a better job with it.
"If they want to put me and Frank Miller together and do one, let’s have a look at a script."

RONSON CRITICISED OVER GAY MARRIAGE BAN PROTESTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s girlfriend SAMANTHA RONSON has been attacked by animal rights activists, after criticising Californians’ decision to pass an animal rights bill, but ban gay marriage.
After a vote in the state last week (04Nov08), Propositions 2 and 8 were both passed - improving protection for farm animals and, at the same time, outlawing same sex marriage.
The lesbian DJ responded to the results by posting a message on her MySpace.com page which read, "I just think it’s frightening that people show more compassion for tomorrow’s dinner than for the chef." The note prompted outrage from animal rights supporters, who inundated Ronson with angry emails.
But she is refusing to apologise, adding a new message that reads, "I apparently offended some animal lovers. Um, really people? I love animals as much as anyone, I don’t eat pork - so, for those of you fighting that good fight against me.., shut up! "I was just pointing out the fact that people in California seem to care more about animal rights than human rights… I’m not running around killing chickens for fun or firing a slingshot at a squirrel."

THEWLIS READ ABOUT EVIL TO PLAY NAZI

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Actor DAVID THEWLIS prepared to play a concentration camp commander in his latest movie by reading the memoirs of a real life Nazi.
The Harry Potter actor struggled to understand how his character in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas could be so evil, until he immersed himself in the writings of Rudolf Hoffs, who ruled at Poland’s notorious Auschwitz camp, where as many as 1.1 million Jews were murdered.
Thewlis reveals, "(I prepared) by believing such a man could exist, which I arrived at through reading the memoirs of Rudolf Hoffs, a commander at Auschwitz, who was ordered to write his autobiography in between his trial and execution. It’s an amazing insight into the mind of a man such as I’m playing."

WASHINGTON HITS OUT AT GREY’S ANATOMY BOSSES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Actor ISAIAH WASHINGTON has lashed out at his former bosses on hit U.S. TV series GREY’S ANATOMY - insisting their decision to write BROOKE SMITH’s character out of the show is "disgusting".
Washington’s contract on the ABC medical drama wasn’t extended after he used homophobic language during a 2006 on-set row with co-star Patrick Dempsey.
And now he has launched a campaign in defence of Smith after bosses announced her character, who’s engaged in a lesbian storyline on the show, would be written out.
He says, "I looked at a brilliant actress, whom I have adored since I first saw her in Silence of the Lambs. For her to be treated this way, I find very interesting.
"The fact is that, just before the holidays, you have a mother, a wonderful actress removed from a steady income without the proper reasoning behind it…
You look at the way another consummate professional (is) being treated because her character, her storyline (has) potentially made producers uncomfortable.
"Now that I see what they’re doing to a show that I love and I care about, I think it’s disgusting. The fact that (creator) Shonda (Rhimes) has been put in this position is extremely unfair. It’s unfortunate because it was probably, at the time, the most progressive show on television. Now I see it (being) systematically torn apart." But despite disagreeing with the show’s new direction, Washington admits he’s keen to return to the series. Asked if he’d consider reprising his Dr. Preston Burke character, he says, "Absolutely!"

TURTURRO’S BROTHER FACES EVICTION AFTER ALLEGED DEATH THREATS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

The brother of actor JOHN TURTURRO is warring with his New York neighbours, who are campaigning for his eviction.
According to the New York Post, 10 residents of Ralph Turturro’s Manhattan apartment building have signed a letter begging their landlord to remove him from the building after he threatened to kill them.
Police have reportedly been called to the apartment block five times since Turturro moved in in August (08) by worried neighbours, who claim the new tenant often screams obscenities throughout the night and leers at female residents.
Resident Deborah Miller claims she had to call police on 30 August (08) after Turturro tried to get in to her apartment at 1am, claiming he was locked out of his own.
She recalls his alleged screams to her, calling, "Get me a key, bitch!" and adds, "He’s explosive. We won’t feel safe until he is not here." Another worried neighbour, Rhodry Murphy, adds, "It’s sad because he’s a sick man. I almost feel sorry for him except he’s making our lives miserable." Turturro, an unemployed artist, admits that he has been a problem in the building but insists he will change.
He says, "I said bad things that I didn’t mean, but it’s not going to happen anymore."

WINEHOUSE’S MOTHER BLASTS BLAKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:57 pm

AMY WINEHOUSE’s mother has hit out at her son-in-law after he failed to tell the singer he was being released from prison.
Blake Fielder-Civil left Edmunds Hill Prison in Suffolk, England this month (04Nov08) after serving almost a year behind bars in relation to an attack on a pub landlord.
But he reportedly failed to tell the Back to Black hitmaker of his release and she is now said to be considering seeking a divorce.
And her mother Janis has waded into the row, slamming her son-in-law for his treatment of her troubled pop star daughter.
She says, "What sort of husband doesn’t tell his wife that he’s being released? That says it all really, doesn’t it? "I don’t know about Blake asking Amy for money, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I’m glad she said no.
"He’d say things like ‘If you love me you’d do this or that’. He’d… give her grief about things. Love is blind. I just hope she’s beginning to see what he’s really like now.
"Who knows what will happen between them? But I think the fact she hasn’t run straight to him now he’s out is positive."

SCHWARZENEGGER URGES SUPREME COURT TO OVERTURN PROPOSITION 8

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:54 pm

Movie star-turned-California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is urging the state Supreme Court to overturn the controversial bill that banned gay marriage last week (04Nov08).
The Proposition 8 bill was voted in earlier this month (Nov08), overturning an earlier ruling legalising same-sex unions in the state.
In an interview on network CNN on Sunday (09Oct08) he said, "It’s unfortunate, obviously, but it’s not the end. I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there and again lead in that area." Speaking to gay marriage supporters he added, "I learned that you should never ever give up… They should never give up. They should be on it and on it until they get it done." Gay unions were legalised in the state in May (08), which led to a flurry of celebrity weddings including TV host Ellen DeGeneres’ marriage to longtime partner Portia de Rossi in August (08).

MILLER WINS DAMAGES FROM NEWSPAPERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:54 pm

Actress SIENNA MILLER has been awarded USD22,300 (GBP35,000) in damages from two British tabloid newspapers over claims they breached her privacy.
The Alfie star filed lawsuits against The Sun and the News Of The World over pictures and articles which appeared in the publications over the summer (08).
She became a target for the paparazzi in June and July (08) after it was revealed she had embarked on a relationship with married oil heir and actor Balthazar Getty - just weeks after splitting from Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.
And a lawyer for News Group Newspapers, which own the publications, has acknowledged that the tabloids "shouldn’t have published such information or such photographs".
In a letter to Miller, News Group’s lawyer Tom Crone wrote, "On the specific facts and circumstances of this case you had a reasonable expectation of privacy in respect of the information and the photographs that we published. We also accept that we should not have published such information or photographs." Miller’s lawyer Mark Thompson stated that the terms of the out-of-court settlement had been approved by London’s High Court.
Thompson added the actress is still seeking various damages against paparazzi photograph agency Big Pictures (UK) Limited - which Miller accuses of waging a "campaign of harassment" against her.
The hearing is expected to start early next year (09).
