NICOLE KIDMAN relished the idea of camping in the outback while shooting new movie AUSTRALIA with HUGH JACKMAN and BAZ LUHRMANN - because the location was so remote, it was two hours away from the nearest town.
The actress had no problems with ‘roughing it’ because it beat the tedious daily drive to and from the set.
She says, "I was just like, ‘Look, I’ll sleep in a tent, I’ll sleep in a trailer, I don’t care. I just don’t wanna have to drive (for) two hours every night.
"I love camping… We had Port-a-loos (portable toilet)." But pale beauty Kidman had to watch out for the Australian sun - because she was spending her days exposed to it.
She adds, "The thing we had to wear out there was sunscreen; I got a suntan for the first time in my life."

Former teen heart-throb DAVID CASSIDY is delighted to be compared to new pin-up ZAC EFRON.
Cassidy shot to fame as an actor on hit TV show The Partridge Family and later went on to launch a highly successful pop career, with his boyish looks making him a poster boy for young girls everywhere.
And Efron, who has found stardom through the High School Musical franchise, is now being hailed as a teen icon in the same league as Cassidy.
Cassidy says, "In the States they have been comparing me to Zac for a while now, I’m very flattered by the comparison - although I’m not too sure Zac would be. There might be some physical similarity - people often referred to me as androgynous-looking and I had a lot of gay fans." And the former teen star has passed on his advice to the 21-year-old: "All I can say to Zac is that as long as he does good work, doesn’t lose his mind and stays grounded as a human being, he’ll be fine. He’d better fasten his seatbelt - it’s going to be a bumpy ride."

Actress ROSARIO DAWSON knew her new film SEVEN POUNDS would break hearts when she sobbed all the way through a script reading.
The Latino star plays a woman battling a heart condition who falls for Will Smith’s character in the film - and she challenges everyone not to be deeply moved by the movie - and its message.
She sat down to read the script for the first time on a flight to Los Angeles with her mother and grandmother - and couldn’t stop crying, particularly when she read the climax of the story.
Dawson says, "I loved it (script) so much and then (I) read the ending… I’m not a public crier per se, and I’m just sitting on this plane with people… I was a weepy mess." And she was relieved when she discovered co-star Smith was just as touched by the film.
She adds, "We just went to a screening… and I was sitting there… crying, with a tissue, trying to be cool about it.
"Will walked out crying and I was like, ‘Oh, thank God - not just me.’"

Comedian KATT WILLIAMS was arrested and taken to jail on Thursday (06Nov08) on weapons charges - but still managed to hit the stage for his stand-up gig later that evening.
The star, 37, and his 10-person entourage were taken into custody in the early hours of the day after cops found the comic’s red Cadillac Escalade parked in New York City without a license plate. Officers also found three guns in plain sight in the vehicle and a Mercedes bus they had also been travelling in.
Authorities handcuffed the star when he came out of a nearby building and admitted ownership of the vehicles.
But Williams managed to post bond and arrived at his sold-out show just an hour behind schedule, reports the New York Daily News.
He joked to the audience: "I’m not moving at my usual pace. I just got out of jail 35 minutes ago."

Hollywood producer JON PETERS is facing a possible prison stint after reportedly violating his parole stemming from a driving under the influence (DUI) charge in 2006.
The Superman Returns moviemaker has allegedly failed to complete an alcohol education programme, report to his probation officer or complete 40 hours of community service, as per the terms of his release.
According to New York gossip column Page Six, Peters has been ordered to Ventura County Court in California on 16 January (09) to answer to the violations. He could be sentenced to prison because he agreed to three years’ probation when originally charged with DUI.
Peters, a former lover of Barbra Streisand, pleaded no contest to the DUI citing after he was found asleep by a freeway in February 2006. As well as the probation, he was ordered to complete community service with Homeboy Industries, an organisation which helps former gang members clean up their act after prison.
A source tells Page Six, "(A) proof of completion was submitted to the court.
When the charity was asked to confirm Jon had completed 40 hours by the deadline, they confirmed he had only done four." A spokesperson for Peters was unavailable for comment as WENN went to press.

British pop star LEONA LEWIS has been hit by an internet blunder which has reportedly seen her new single released on the web a day after her rivals.
Lewis’ new song, Forgive Me, was due to hit digital download outlets at the beginning of the week (03Oct08).
But the track is said to have hit the internet 24 hours after Britney Spears’ new offering, Womanizer, Christina Aguilera’s Keeps Getting’ Better, and Beyonce Knowles’ If I Were A Boy.
The time difference is believed to have put Lewis behind the other singers in their race to the top of the charts.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "We are trying to find out if it was an oversight or a blunder."

LATEST: GIRLS ALOUD star SARAH HARDING has denied she is to wed - with her DJ boyfriend TOM CRANE calling engagement rumours "rubbish".
The British singer, who has been dating Crane since summer 2007, was spotted sporting a ring on her wedding finger at the Music Trust Awards bash in London on Monday (03Nov08) night, prompting speculation they are to marry.
But Crane insists that he hasn’t proposed to the singer, admitting he would have picked a better ring if he had popped the question.
He says, "It’s all rubbish. If I was gonna buy her an engagement ring, I’d get her one with a huge diamond, not some silver band!"

Pop star PINK hates giving her music to other artists - because her songs are like her "children." The singer wrote over 34 songs for her new album, Funhouse, but was forced to whittle the tracklist down to just 14.
And Pink found the process heart-wrenching because she is so emotionally attached to each composition.
She says, "I can be an arrogant a**hole about my music and find it hard to give my songs away. It’s like getting rid of your children: ‘I like that one too, but I’m going to let that one die.’ "The good news now is there’s always a home for the other kids as extra tracks and B-sides."

RADIOHEAD rocker THOM YORKE is celebrating BARACK OBAMA’s triumph in the U.S.
presidential election on Tuesday (04Nov08) by giving fans a free copy of one of his songs.
Radiohead made headlines in 2007 after releasing their album In Rainbows online on a ‘pay what you like’ basis - and now the group’s frontman has made his song Harrowdown Hill available as a free download, in celebration of Obama’s victory.
Yorke writes on the band’s official website: "In celebration of November 5, Jonny (Greenwood, Radiohead guitarist)’s birthday amid bonfire and fireworks in the U.K. and the dawn of a new era in politics in the U.S.A., I humbly donate a remix of Harrowdown Hill that was finished ages ago during the band webcasts, a small reminder of the dark days of (incumbent U.S. president George W.) Bush’s." The song, the original of which appeared on Yorke’s 2006 solo album The Eraser, can be downloaded at Radiohead.com.

Australian actor RUSSELL CROWE is convinced his new movie NOTTINGHAM will be the best ever re-telling of the ROBIN HOOD story - otherwise he wouldn’t have signed up.
The Gladiator star takes on two roles in the film - playing the dashing hero as well as the villain, the Sheriff of Nottingham - alongside Sienna Miller as Maid Marion.
And Crowe admits that he initially turned the part down, then waited for movie bosses to produce a better script before he signed up.
He says, "The world doesn’t need a mundane version of Robin Hood. If we’re gonna do it, we’ve got to kick some serious butt. I’ve loved Robin Hood since I was a kid, but when the idea came up and they gave me this script, I said, ‘Look, I don’t like this. This doesn’t work. It’s not good enough.’ So this has got to be the best one ever done, otherwise I should be doing something else." And Crowe insists that the picture will remain true to the history of the legend, meaning he won’t be donning the costume made famous by Robin Hood’s many incarnations.
He adds, " I will not wear tights because according to our research they weren’t invented for another 300 years. I apologise to you all - and to Sienna Miller." The story of the English folk hero has been regularly adapted for the big screen over the last 100 years, with actors including Errol Flynn and Kevin Costner taking on the title role.

JOHN LENNON’s widow YOKO ONO approved an MTV video game featuring music from THE BEATLES with the hope of inspiring a whole new generation of Fab Four fans.
After months of negotiations, the legendary group’s songs have been licensed to appear in a special edition of Rock Band.
And Ono admits it was an easy decision for her and surviving members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to make.
She tells Entertainment Weekly, "All of us are actually pretty hip, so we said yes. I’m personally very excited. (The game) lets you participate in a way where you’re really (immersed in) the music.
"With so many young kids into The Beatles, it’s a start to a beautiful new page in (the band’s) history. Maybe they’ll start to make music and not just listen to it, and really understand what it’s about." Giles Martin, the son of Beatles producer Sir George Martin, is reportedly serving as the project’s music producer.

LINDSAY LOHAN’s girlfriend SAMANTHA RONSON has expressed her shock at the passing of a ban on same-sex marriage in California - calling the move "frightening" and "sad." Just over 52 per cent of those who voted on Proposition 8 opposed May’s (08) Supreme Court ruling, which legalised same-sex unions in the state.
And Ronson is angry that voters in some states on Tuesday (04Nov08) approved a proposition freeing battery chickens from small cages, but turned down the proposal which would have legalised gay marriage, and allowed same-sex couples to adopt.
She writes on her MySpace.com blog, "I guess people care more about farm animals than they do their fellow man, that’s really sad to me. Yes, I am glad that the chickens will have more room and better conditions as they wait to die, but I just think it’s frightening that people show more compassion for tomorrow’s dinner than for the chef.
"Yup, Miss Piggy and Chicken Little may rest easy, but gay people in Florida and California can no longer get married and gay couples in Arkansas can’t adopt children. G-d forbid a loving family (regardless of sexual orientation) give a needy child a home!"

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO is happy to leave his days as a teen heart-throb behind him insisting he wants to hand over the job to ZAC EFRON.

He says, "I look at young Zac Efron and think ‘Go get it pal, leave me in peace.’ I was never happy with the teen idol tag at all - never wanted to be a sex symbol or all that stuff - it was the work that appealed to me. Hollywood actress ANNE HATHAWAY often receives unpleasant letters from fans, insisting some of the notes have ranged from "scary" to "just weird".
The Devil Wears Prada star admits she attracts a lot of unwanted attention and some of it leaves her feeling extremely uncomfortable.
She says, "It’s nice to get feedback from people who see the movies, but I have a few scary letters I could do without.
"I have been asked for pictures of my bare feet, which is just weird." But Hathaway refuses to let the unsavoury items in her mailbox get her down.
She adds, "I try not to take those too seriously, because mostly everyone is nice to me."

LATEST: Former MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGER SKYLAR DELEON will face a death sentence if the members of a jury in a triple murder case get their way.
Last month (Oct08), Deleon, a former child actor who appeared on the popular kids’ TV series, was convicted of murdering three people, including a couple who were tied to an anchor and thrown from their yacht.
And now the jury in the case want the 29-year-old actor to pay for his crimes with his life.
Deleon’s attorney, Gary Pohlson, argues his client should not be put to death.
He says, "Skylar is guilty of all three murders, (but) at the end of this, I’m going to ask you to give him life without the possibility of parole as the appropriate sentence." The lawyer cited Deleon’s "horrible, horrible life," and noted he was allegedly abused as child by his father, who eventually died of AIDS.
Deleon will learn of his sentence next Wednesday (12Nov08).

Actress CHRISTINA APPLEGATE is still mourning the loss of her ex LEE GRIVAS, four months after he died from an apparent drug overdose.
The Anchorman star reveals she learned of Grivas’ death as she was preparing for breast cancer surgery and, in many ways, the sad news was more painful than the fact she was about to lose her breasts in a mastectomy.
She explains, "I think that was more difficult and more painful than anything else. It still is a lot of the time." Grivas, an aspiring photographer, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on 1 July (08), aged just 26.

But Pink is sure that another track from the record, is going be even more successful - because her dad gave it the thumbs up.
She says, "The day me and Carey split up, my dad came to hang out with me in New York and I played him that song.
"My dad gets really excited about music and had the headphones on. He was like shouting, ‘Honey, this song is going to be a hit.’ "I like the thought of exciting him."
