DANIEL CRAIG was honoured to work with late Hollywood legend PAUL NEWMAN, because he was able to witness firsthand the star’s love of acting.
The Quantum of Solace actor worked with Newman, who succumbed to his battle with cancer in September (08), in the 2002 movie Road to Perdition.
And Craig, 40, was struck by the veteran actor’s professionalism on-set, which he insists he is still touched by to this day.
He tells USA Today, "The best thing I can say about Paul Newman was he worried about his craft and worried about what he was doing. He talked it through, and when he got it right it pleased him and when got it wrong it really (ticked) him off.
"I thought, ‘You’re in your 70s, this is the twilight of your career - other people would be sitting back and saying, ‘I’ll show up, say the lines and take the check.’ "But no, it absolutely meant as much to him then as it had always meant. I thought, ‘God, if you’re still getting a thrill out of your job, still getting that much out of your profession at that age, that can’t be a bad thing."

MILEY CYRUS once donned a wig in an attempt to go undercover like her onscreen alter ego HANNAH MONTANA - but her plan was foiled when she set her hair on fire.
The Disney star shot to fame on her hit Disney TV series, in which she plays Hannah Montana, a pop star who wears a wig onstage to conceal her true identity as school student Miley Stewart.
Cyrus attempted a similar stunt to go unnoticed by her fans - but her efforts failed when she used a straightening iron on the hairpiece.
She tells British talk show This Morning, "I had the idea (to go out in disguise) so I got a wig and it was really short, a tomboy cut, and I decided to straighten it. I’m sitting down and all of a sudden I start smelling smoke.
I thought, ‘What is that?’ "The wig is literally catching on fire because I didn’t know it was a cheap wig. And I thought, ‘This isn’t going to work for me.’ So it doesn’t work in real life but it works on the show!"

LATEST: Action man JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME is convinced the only reason one of his beloved pet dogs is still alive is because of prayer and comfort.
The animal-loving actor scrapped a series of publicity appearances for his new movie JCVD to spent time with his pooch, Scarface, rather than chat about his new film.
And he believes his efforts kept his canine companion alive.
He tells Details magazine, "He had a stroke. I talked to him in his ear, and I prayed because I believe in forces. Now he’s doing fine." Scarface is one of many stray dogs Van Damme has saved.
He adds, "I see dogs on the street, and I adopt them. I took seven dogs from Thailand, and a few of them are paralysed. One has three paws instead of four.
One is limping, so we bought him a wheelchair.
"I spent my own money to fly them back by private jet. In commercial, they can have heart attacks because of stress - it’s dark and icy cold.
"I love animals. I have nine dogs and a kitty. My biggest orgasm - not in a sexual way - is to walk with my dogs on the beach. In Belgium we have these wide sidewalks. You feel like you’re on the Planet Moon, and I can make them feel like movie stars."

Breast cancer survivor CHRISTINA APPLEGATE will undergo reconstructive surgery at the end of the month (Nov08), around her 37th birthday.
The Samantha Who star, who turns another year older on 25 November (08), had a double mastectomy in July (08) after she was diagnosed with the disease.
But Applegate refuses to get depressed about her health situation preferring instead to use her own experience to raise awareness about cancer.
She tells TV Guide magazine, "I still have quite a process until this is done. Yes, it’s hard. It sucks. But I’m not a victim."

JENNIFER HUDSON’s sister JULIA has provoked outrage with new photos on a social networking website by allegedly posting the pictures with insensitive captions referring to the murder of her brother last month (Oct08) in their native Chicago, Illinois.
The siblings’ mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason, were found shot dead at their home in the city on 24 October (08). The singer/actress’ seven-year-old nephew, Julian King - son of Julia - was also killed; his body was found in an abandoned car three days later.
A memorial for the three victims was held on Monday (03Nov08) - but new photos uploaded onto Julia Hudson’s MySpace.com page suggests she is trying to deal with her grief through humour.
According to website TMZ.com, one particular photo featuring Julia with two pals is captioned: "Now that Jason’s gone I’m the prettiest one".
Julia’s estranged husband, William Balfour, is still being held by police in connection to the murders, although he has yet to be charged.
A spokesperson for Hudson could not be reached for comment as WENN went to press.

OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER has proved a huge hit with Scottish retail staff - he reportedly dished out thirty tickets for a recent gig to ecstatic shopworkers.
The Wonderwall rocker paid a visit to Glasgow, Scotland designer store Cruise ahead of his gig in the city on Wednesday (05Nov08).
And Gallagher was obviously in a generous mood as he gave away a stack of tickets to the sold-out show - which was the final date on the band’s current U.K. tour.

Generous rocker BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN helped to raise over $100,000 (£63,290) for wounded war veterans on Wednesday (05Nov08) when he threw his leather jacket in a charity auction.
The legendary star took part in the New York Comedy Festival for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which also saw appearances by funnyman Ricky Gervais, U.S.
TV presenter Regis Philbin and Saturday Night Live comic Darrell Hammond.
But Springsteen was the highlight of the show, riding onstage on his 1994 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which he was donating to the sale.
Guest auctioneer Whoopi Goldberg helped get proceedings underway, but when bidding on the powerful motorbike stalled at $40,000 (£25,300), kind-hearted Springsteen literally sold the clothes off his back - taking off the leather jacket he was wearing to boost the sale. The two items eventually sold for $70,000 (£44,300).
But that wasn’t all Springsteen gave away - CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour handed over $50,000 (£31,645) for The Boss’ autographed guitar, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

FALL OUT BOY star PETE WENTZ has slammed the passing of a ban on same-sex marriage in California - insisting voters have been duped into vetoing the new law.
Just over 52 per cent of those who voted on Proposition 8 on Tuesday (04Nov08) opposed May’s (08) Supreme Court ruling, which legalised gay unions in the state.
The move means same-sex unions, such as Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi’s marriage, will not be considered valid like those of heterosexual couples.
And Wentz believes voters were "intimidated" into voting against the new law - insisting anti-gay marriage campaigners misled California’s citizens.
In a statement, Wentz says, "Many people were intimidated on this issue due to the scary misleading communications on the other side. I believe that this is, and has always been, a civil rights issue. We should not allow inequality like this in America." It is not the first time Wentz, who is expecting a child with his pop star wife Ashlee Simpson, has slammed Proposition 8 - earlier this year (08), he branded the proposed ban "f**king lame".

PHIL SPECTOR’s murder trial defence was handed a boost on Thursday (06Nov08) when a police officer failed to corroborate testimony from the music mogul’s ex-girlfriend about an allegedly abusive incident in 1993.
Spector’s former girlfriend Dorothy Melvin took the stand at Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week (begs03Nov08) and recalled how she had been threatened on one occasion by a gun-toting Spector.
Melvin described a visit to Spector’s Pasadena home in July 1993 when she had fallen asleep - only to awake and find Spector outside pointing a shotgun at her car.
When she protested, he allegedly smacked her in the face with the firearm, drawing blood, and chased her down the driveway as she fled the scene in her car.
But Sergeant Chris Russ, who attended the scene of the alleged crime on the night in question, told the court he did not recall seeing any injuries when he arrived to investigate "something of a domestic incident".
During the cross-examination by the defence, the prosecution’s witness claimed Melvin had not mentioned anything about the gun assault during his visit. He also testified that there was no evidence to suggest Spector had been drunk, as alleged by Melvin.
Melvin is one of five women who have agreed to testify against Spector during the retrial. Each claims the mogul pulled guns on them during arguments.
The gun-loving producer is accused of the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson, who died of a gunshot wound to the head in the foyer of Spector’s Alhambra, California mansion.
Spector’s lawyers maintain Clarkson shot herself.
The original trial ended with a deadlocked jury last year (07). The 68-year-old faces 18 years behind bars if convicted.

R. KELLY’s teenage nephew has been shot - after reportedly attempting to rob a barbershop in Chicago, Illinois.
Brandon Kelly, the 15-year-old son of the R&B hitmaker’s brother Carey Kelly, was taken to a local hospital late on Thursday (06Nov08) night with chest injuries after being shot twice by the shop owner.
Police believe the boy was up to no good - but his dad is convinced Brandon is the innocent victim in this situation, and could have just gotten caught up in someone else’s crime, reports TMZ.com.
According to Fox News’ Chicago affiliate, Brandon has now been taken into police custody in connection to the attempted robbery.

Hollywood actress SALMA HAYEK bought a soccer lesson with sports star DAVID BECKHAM at an auction - but has been too busy to have a class with the former England captain.
Hayek attended a charity auction in New York, hosted by Madonna, in February (08) and splashed out a reported $278,250 (£175,000) on a one-hour private tuition session with Beckham.
But nine months later, the star has failed to find the time to claim her prize.
A spokesman for Beckham says, "As yet, we haven’t been able to sort out a date that suits all parties."

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has come under fire from angry travellers after she was allowed to cut in line at a New York airport to get through customs upon arriving in the U.S. from London.
The catwalk beauty arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport on an American Airlines flight on Tuesday (04Nov08) morning and was then escorted to the front of the queue to have her passport checked.
But her fellow air passengers were not amused by her preferential treatment and booed Campbell as she passed them to get to the head of the queue.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "An older lady was about to have her passport checked, but she was told to wait so Naomi could go first. It p**sed off a lot of people." However, Campbell’s lawyer Marty Singer has defended the star, insisting it is normal procedure for any celebrity to be escorted through customs first - to avoid unwelcome attention.
Singer says, "She was not treated any differently than any other high-profile individual. American Airlines offered to escort her. She did not ask for it.
It’s done for security reasons, so high-profile passengers aren’t besieged by people." A spokesperson for American Airlines has refused to comment on the incident.

The paparazzo who accused KEANU REEVES of running him down in a car has admitted he has "no concern for the safety" of the celebrities he is snapping.
Photographer Alison Silva recently sued the Speed star, claiming he was left with debilitating injuries after the actor allegedly knocked him to the ground with his Porsche as he tried to get of picture of him in March 2007.
He claimed his damaged hand prevented him from working, and he sought compensation and damages from the Hollywood star.
But Reeves was cleared of all responsibility after a court delivered a unanimous verdict in Los Angeles earlier this month (Nov08).
And now it has been revealed Silva had previously confessed that he continuously breaks the law in the pursuit of photos, and doesn’t consider the safety of anyone around him, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.
In a recorded interview with U.S. private investigator Paul Barresi in January (08), Silva said, "Most of us have no concern for the safety of others, to be honest with you.
"All the paparazzos are breaking the law, including trespassing, running lights, speeding down the opposite side of the street… We all know we are breaking the law, but it is worth the risk. Safety is not an issue with most of us."

Fans didn’t have to wait long for the much-hyped BRITNEY SPEARS and MADONNA collaboration at the MATERIAL GIRL’s Dodgers Stadium show in Los Angeles on Thursday night (06Nov08) - the pop stars teamed up just three songs in.
As expected, Spears joined Madonna for a version of Human Nature, but no one expected the pop pair to team up so early on in the evening.
Wearing black pants and a white top, Spears stunned the sold-out crowd by singing and dancing with her heroine before she was lowered beneath the stage at the end of the number as portions of the crowd cried out her name.
It was a tame stage collaboration compared to the last time Madonna performed with Spears - the pair hit the headlines back in 2003 when they locked lips during a wedding themed routine at the MTV Video Music Awards.
And the Dodgers Stadium crowd was in for a further treat - Spears’ ex Justin Timberlake later appeared onstage with Madonna for an energetic version of their hit 4 Minutes.
The show was a big success, despite fears about the stage after a minor collapse on Wednesday (05Nov08).
Prior to Thursday night’s show, Madonna said, "Even though my stage roof was damaged and some lights and effects aren’t working, I want to do the show anyway because I don’t want to disappoint my fans."

West End theatre producers are searching for a MICHAEL JACKSON soundalike to star in a London musical based on the pop superstar’s biggest hits.
Thriller - Live has already toured Germany, Holland, Scandinavia and the U.K., but the stage show - which also includes songs from Jackson’s time in the Jackson 5 - is now set to open at the Lyric Theatre in the British capital’s famous theatre district in January (09).
Producers are holding casting calls for black or mixed race boys aged between 11 and 15 with "an excellent unbroken pop/rock voice with a high range".
Wannabe stars will have to wow casting directors with a rendition of Ben, I Want You Back or I’ll Be There when auditions take place on 23 November (08).
The tribute show has been approved by bosses at Jackson’s record label Sony, but the star himself is not involved in the project.
The West End news comes just one day after theatre impresario James Nederlander revealed he is bringing Jackson’s 14-minute zombie-theme Thriller video to Broadway as an ambitious new stage show.

WILL SMITH’s teenage son TREY has stunned his proud dad by insisting all the guests attending his upcoming 16th birthday party donate gifts to Los Angeles Children’s Hospital.
The movie star’s son was so affected by the recent death of his grandmother, he decided that presents he didn’t need had no worth if he couldn’t donate them to others.
Smith says, "About eight weeks ago his grandmother died of cancer and he said he just realised they’re just gifts… what does that really mean, and he asked all of his friends that are coming to the party to donate gifts to kids at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
"It was a really aggressive experience for him; he was there in the moment when she passed, so he got a real sense of that loss."

And he admits it was a sleepy phone message he left on Timberlake’s voicemail that landed him the gig.
He says, "We were working on his (Timberlake’s) album, and when he heard my message he called me back in a silly little voice, so we started doing all these voices.
"Then I bumped into (producer) Jeffrey Katzenberg at a Grammy party who asked me if I’d like to do the music for this, and Justin who was also there said to Jeffrey, ‘Man, you’ve got to hear this dude do voices.’ So they asked me in to read for some characters, and I got the gig, and I was so happy as I loved the first film so much."
