MAMMA MIA! composer BENNY ANDERSSON has shot down rumours he’s working on a sequel to the movie adaptation of the hit stage show.
The summer (08) release, which is based on the songs of Swedish pop stars Abba, has become a major box office smash internationally, grossing more than $559 million (£353.7 million) worldwide.
But Abba’s Andersson insists Universal Pictures bosses have yet to approach him about a follow-up.
He says, "There is no talk of a sequel. (But they) would like a sequel because they’re just flabbergasted at the success - more than anyone, I think." However, that does not mean Andersson and songwriting pal Bjorn Ulvaeus are not interested in the project if screenwriter Catherine Johnson pens a new plotline: "If she comes up with something, if she’s keen on it, then maybe she’ll call us." The 2008 film starred Hollywood actress Meryl Streep and actors Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth.

Pop punk PINK considers therapy a waste of time - preferring instead to write songs about her troubles.
The So What hitmaker checked into an Arizona health centre in the summer (08) because she feared she was becoming addicted to alcohol.
But the singer, who split from husband Carey Hart earlier this year (08), finds it impossible to open up to professionals - insisting writing lyrics is the best way to overcome her emotional woes.
She says , "I either say nothing or tell jokes. There was this one therapist who told me, ‘I really like you and think you’re really funny, but when are you going to start telling the truth?’ "I just said, ‘Fine. I’m going to write a song and then I’m gonna kill myself’.
"For me, therapy doesn’t really work, but I like putting myself in the most uncomfortable situations. If you call it, you take the sting out of it.
"That Family Portrait song (from her album Missundaztood) hurt the whole family, but it swept everything up and we were better for it."

Singing sensation LEONA LEWIS is thrilled at the chance to work with pop superstar JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE after the pair met at a charity concert in October (08).
The Bleeding Love hitmaker performed at the Justin Timberlake and Friends event in Las Vegas on 18 October in a bid to raise funds for Shriners Hospital for Children.
And Lewis, who admits she is impressed by his charity work, hints the pair may be planning to hit the studio together in the near future.
She says, "When I got to Vegas, Justin came to see me and asked, ‘Can you sing this one? Can you do that one?’ "I couldn’t believe how much interest he had in me as an artist. He said he’d love to do a track with me, which is amazing." She adds, "He’s super cool and it’s awesome he hosted an event like that for a charity close to his heart.
"It’s admirable and something I’d like to work towards in the future."

CRYSTAL CASTLES singer ALICE GLASS has been honoured as the coolest person in the music industry by NME magazine.
The little-known Canadian rocker beat rap superstar Jay-Z and MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden into second and third place respectively in the British music publication’s annual cool list.
Other stars who made it onto the list’s top 10 include Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, Kings of Leon rocker Caleb Followill, and Oasis star Liam Gallagher.
But it was bad news for Amy Winehouse - the troubled singer failed to make the top 10 this year after scoring eighth place in 2007. Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty also fell off the NME radar, after being placed 34th last time around.
NME’s editor Conor McNicholas says, "The likes of Amy and Pete have dropped off the list altogether this year, perhaps because they are more known for their tabloid antics than their music at the moment." Previous artists who have topped the list include Jack White, Justin Timberlake and Beth Ditto.

Country star CARRIE UNDERWOOD has slammed fellow celebrities who use their public profile to rally support for politicians.
The former American Idol contestant doesn’t agree with well-known people who make their political affiliations known to the public - insisting voters’ decisions shouldn’t be swayed by the power of celebrity.
In the run up to Tuesday’s (04Nov08) U.S. presidential elections, Hollywood stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Lindsay Lohan, Matt Damon, Bruce Springsteen, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs all threw their support behind America’s new president, Barack Obama.
Most notably, powerful TV titan Oprah Winfrey backed the new American leader on his campaign for the White House, despite the fact she had never publicly backed a presidential candidate in her 25 years on U.S. TV.
And Underwood is adamant the process is wrong - insisting she loses "all respect" for stars who publicise their political views.
She tells America’s TV Guide, "There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate.
"It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions … music is where you go to get away from all the BS."

DANITY KANE singer DAWN RICHARD has brushed off reports her alleged attempts to break out as a solo star caused the pop group to split.
The group, put together by rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for his reality TV series Making The Band, was reportedly left with only two remaining members after singers Shannon Bex, Aubrey O’Day and D. Woods parted ways last month (Oct08).
Reports have swirled of Combs’ plans for a solo stint for 23-year-old Richard, which allegedly added to tensions in the former five-piece.
But Richards insists it was her former bandmates who caused the rift.
She says, "The reality is that we were in a group and everyone got to do the individual. I was pro Danity Kane. Aubrey went to Broadway, D. Woods had her own side hustle: a group. Everyone had their own opportunity to do things and no one ever had anything to say about it, it was totally fine.
"It’s interesting that Puff (Combs) just had me on a couple of references (song parts) and my name is in it like I did something wrong. It’s interesting how tables turn. All of a sudden when someone has a belief in me, people say I’m doing something side."

Rocker PETE WENTZ owes his life to U.S. vice president elect JOE BIDEN because his parents met while working for the Democrat.
Biden’s running mate Barack Obama was chosen as the country’s new leader on Tuesday (04Nov08).

AMY WINEHOUSE has a new mentor - MICHAEL JACKSON’s legendary music producer QUINCY JONES.
The Back To Black singer met the iconic producer in June (08) at Nelson Mandela’s birthday concert in London.
The star was rumoured to be teaming up with Mark Ronson to record a song for a forthcoming Quincy Jones tribute album.
And now it has been revealed that Winehouse is actually working with the man himself, reportedly recording music for her new album.
A source tells British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, "Quincy has taken her under his wing and put her back on the wagon. The two are collaborating on one or two projects and if anyone can save a talent like Amy, then it is Q." A spokesman for Winehouse confirms, "They met at the Nelson Mandela concert in the summer and got chatting. He’s a big fan of hers and she him."

LATEST: SIR MICK JAGGER’s ex-wife BIANCA has offered to settle the dispute over her recently found $295,000 (£160,675) ring - by giving the reward money to charity.
Former model Jagger was in Salzburg, Austria in August (08) when she realised she had misplaced the platinum and aquamarine band.
The jewellery was subsequently discovered by Reinhard Ringler, who came forward to claim the $13,000 (£8,175) reward he is entitled to under Austrian law - which states the finder be given five per cent of the item’s value or 10,000 Euros.
But Jagger initially refused to pay, because of the "long delay" in handing the item over to police.
Ringler claimed he thought the gem was of little value and gave it to his 13-year-old daughter, before handing it in eight days after the loss was reported by the country’s press.
But now Jagger has offered to give 90 per cent of the reward money to charity Amnesty International, and 10 per cent to Ringler’s daughter.
Ringler’s lawyer Paul Kreuzberger says, "I assume, however, that Mr. Ringler will not accept the offer."

BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE’s talent agent has been dragged into a legal battle with a former female assistant - amid accusations of sexual harassment.
Heather Devlin claims Todd Shemarya created a hostile work environment by exposing her to internet porn, "parading naked" around her, and even mocking his Hollywood clients - who also include Leonardo DiCaprio and Pitt’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.
In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (04Nov08), Devlin further alleges that Shemarya, co-founder of Todd Shemarya Associates (TSA), stole a pair of vintage Cartier watches sent to clients Pitt and Aniston, while they were married, and gave them to a friend as a wedding present.
The suit also recalls an incident in which Shemarya showed Devlin photos of a nude Pitt from a banned 1997 issue of Playgirl magazine while "ridicul(ing) the size of Pitt’s penis" and referring to Aniston as "an ugly b**ch".
Devlin maintains she was fired after nine years as Shemarya’s assistant, months after he hired his gay lover and put him in charge of some of her accounts.
Devlin’s lawyer Keith A. Fink tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, "Ms. Devlin was exposed to a constant barrage of offensive sexual, racial and religious comments. TSA’s celebrity clients would usually be the centre of his ridicule." However, Shemarya has furiously denied the allegations, saying: "These are false accusations. This is a disgruntled employee who I fired about a year ago.
And now she’s trying to extort money."

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE headed to the U.S. polling booths on Election Day (04Nov08) - even though he wasn’t allowed to vote.
The British-born actor, 19, is currently starring in Broadway stage show Equus - and although he wasn’t eligible to vote, he made sure he could soak up the atmosphere by tagging along with one of his American co-stars.
Millions of U.S. citizens, including celebrities like Tim Robbins, LL Cool J, Lindsay Lohan and Pharrell Williams, queued for hours to log their votes at the ballot box - with Democrat Barack Obama eventually being announced as the new president.
And Radcliffe was delighted to have witnessed the monumental scenes at the polls near New York University.
He tells the New York Post, "Barack Obama’s treated like the Messiah in England.
"We don’t have particularly inspirational politicians, certainly no one who can draw crowds in the thousands."

Actress PAMELA ANDERSON has been forced to move into a mobile home while her house is refurbished - and she loves her humble new abode.

The actor, 19, is currently living in the U.S. while starring in the live stage show, and he insists the Big Apple provides welcome relief to his native U.K., where he is constantly spotted by fans.
And Radcliffe is convinced it is his diminutive height - he is 1.6 metres (5 foot, 5 inches) - that keeps him from being noticed.
He tells the New York Post, "The other day, I walked through Battery Park City up around Wall Street for about two hours, and I wasn’t stopped once. I’m so short, no one notices me."

BABYSHAMBLES frontman PETE DOHERTY has teamed up with former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON for his forthcoming album.
The record will be Doherty’s first solo effort - and Babyshambles’ drummer Adam Ficek is impressed with the results, claiming Coxon has given the rocker’s work an extra dimension.
He says, "It’s not just music with Graham, it’s this whole sonic environment he creates.

LATEST: The death of a special effects technician on the movie set of THE DARK KNIGHT was an accident, an inquest has ruled.
A jury at Monday’s (03Nov08) two-day inquest at Woking Coroner’s Court in Surrey, England heard that Conway Wickliffe lost his life during a test run for a scene in the latest Batman film, in which the Batmobile is blown up.
The 41-year-old father-of-two was leaning out of a car while operating a camera when the vehicle crashed on the test track at the QinetiQ site in Surrey in September 2007.
Wickliffe’s partner, Dee Chase, is now urging big movie companies to hire health and safety officials to oversee every stunt in a bid to prevent further tragedies.
Chase says, "Warner Brothers (the studio behind The Dark Knight) are a huge multi-million dollar company - why are they cutting corners like this? These guys are under pressure because the director will say he wants something and they have to respond as quickly as possible. It is the culture of the industry and it needs to change." According to the BBC, bosses at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) may now bring a prosecution over the incident.
