USHER IS ‘SPEECHLESS’ OVER PRESIDENT OBAMA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

R&B singer USHER has been left "speechless" by Democrat BARACK OBAMA’s election triumph - making him the first African American president of the U.S.
The Illinois senator beat Republican rival John McCain when the country went to the polls on Tuesday (04Nov08).
Usher joined rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige to lend his backing to Obama in the run-up to the election, and he admits he is pleasantly stunned by Obama’s appointment - because it proves America’s Civil Rights Movement made a real difference.
He says, "This will go down in history, in black history, for all of the sacrifices that the great Joseph Lowery and Martin Luther King made; this actually pays off for their sacrifice.
"The great Rosa Parks. So many people sacrificed for us to have a voice. It was one thing to have a voice but, to eventually know the best way to use it and then it grows into this, it’s just incredible. I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say."

OBAMA SUCCESS FORCES WINFREY TO USE PARK LOO FOR THE FIRST TIME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

OPRAH WINFREY was so desperate to be part of BARACK OBAMA’s success as he was elected the 44th president of the U.S. on Tuesday night (04Nov08), she used a portable park loo for the first time.
Millions of Americans saw the talk show queen in tears during Obama’s moving post-election speech in Chicago, Illinois’ Grant Park - and Winfrey was so determined not to miss a word, she kept her legs crossed and dashed for a Port-a-Potty as the new President left the stage.
She says, "In all these years at every event, I’ve said, ‘No, I’m not going to do the Port-a-potty…but I said I better use it." And she’s glad she supported Obama prior to the election and on her friend’s big night: "I would have lost my soul if I had not stood up for Barack Obama and it was worth everything for me to do it. It feels like something big happened." She only hopes the new President keeps in touch.
Winfrey tells news show Extra, "I’m just hoping the email address doesn’t change."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

HARRY POTTER star EMMA WATSON is riled by reports she’s a serial dater and has urged fans not to believe everything they read in the tabloids.
The 18-year-old actress has amassed a personal fortune, estimated at $16 million (£10.1 million), from her role in the boy wizard film franchise, and she insists finding the right man isn’t an easy task.
She tell Britain’s Hello magazine, "I’ve been linked to so many guys that I sound like a wanton woman! "People say, ‘Oh, boys must be lining up for you.’ It’s really not that easy.
I suppose guys are either intimidated by me and have their defences up or like to take the mickey (make fun) out of me.
"On set, I’m surrounded by cute, older guys. It’s a minefield, to be honest.
It’s stressful."

KIDMAN WAS ‘STIFLED IN CRUISE MARRIAGE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

NICOLE KIDMAN felt stifled during her 10-year marriage to TOM CRUISE, and only became an individual when they split in 2001.
The actress claims she was never considered a star in her own right, and was treated as an extension to the Top Gun actor.
Just two years after her divorce from Cruise, Kidman cemented her status on Hollywood’s A-list by lifting the Best Actress Oscar for her role in The Hours - and she admits she flourished after the split.
Kidman, who is now married to country star Keith Urban, tells the December issue of America’s Glamour magazine, "I felt I became a star only by association. I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard."

TAKEI ASTOUNDED BY GAY MARRIAGE BAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

STAR TREK actor GEORGE TAKEI has been left with bittersweet feelings about the election of BARACK OBAMA - because his success came with the failure of a bid to keep gay marriage legal in California.
Just over 52 per cent of those who voted on Proposition 8 opposed May’s (08) Supreme Court ruling, which legalised same-sex unions.
Takei, who took advantage of the new legislation and wed his partner Brad Altman in September (08), tells Usmagazine.com, "Last night, I was filled with pride to be an American. It was an exhilarating night of celebration. Barack Obama’s victory was a miraculous moment in our history.
"(But at the same time) our fight for marriage equality was going down to defeat. It was astounding to think that the hard won equality that made my recent marriage to Brad Altman would no longer be possible for others.
"The evening became bittersweet… The road ahead is long, the road will be steep.” But Takei is prepared for another fight: "Our struggles for equality for another minority, gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered, will be no different. There will be setbacks, disappointments and sacrifices to be made.
Barack Obama spoke of the ‘renewed promise’ of America. It happened last night with the presidency. And equality and justice will happen for us as well. We will make it happen. Yes we can."

SIMMONS PROUD OF HIP-HOP YOUTH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

Rap mogul RUSSELL SIMMONS has praised the hip-hop community for helping to elect BARACK OBAMA the 44th President of the U.S.
The Def Jam founder-turned-style guru has released a post-election statement, in which he celebrates and congratulates the "vision of the hip-hop generation and its young people".
Simmons insists the genre’s youth helped older Americans, like himself, realise their dream of putting Senator Obama in the White House.
The statement reads, "The election of Barack Obama, a resounding progressive voice, is a clear reflection of hip-hop politics.
"Obama’s election as president is a beautiful testament to the American collective consciousness that is flowering. This more loving consciousness will be necessary to protect us from some of our hurtful human choices and tendencies.
"We will need it to create balance with the constantly emerging advances in technology, so, going forward, we can use these advances in a positive way to lift up Mother Earth and all her inhabitants.
"I don’t think I’m overstating it when I say that today, I feel like America has dodged a bullet. Let’s support this beautiful leader to do the work necessary to promote and execute on the change agenda we all voted for."

Last week (ends31Oct08), Jermaine Jackson claimed Michael, his brothers and sister Janet would record a new album together and tour in 2009 to revive the family’s flagging fortunes.

A source tells the publication: "Both Michael and Janet are not involved in any way and Michael really laid into Jermaine for even raising the possibility."
