Oscar-nominee TERRENCE HOWARD was so desperate to win back his ex-wife, he bought her her childhood home.
The generous gesture worked; Howard remarried Lori McCommas in 2005 just two years after their 14 year marriage had ended.
But the reconciliation didn’t last long and the star separated from the mother of his three children soon after.
Howard tells Hip Hop Weekly, "It was the house she fell in love with when she was a little girl, and I bought the house because I was re-courting her again, but it didn’t work out." The actor recently revealed how he wrote a song about stalking McCommas, before eventually moving on and finding love with his current, unnamed girlfriend of two-and-half-years.

U.S. talk show legend JOHNNY CARSON has been laid bare by his longtime lawyer in a new tell-all book - dubbing him a "great star" but a "miserable human being".
Henry Bushkin spills details of the former Tonight Show host’s alleged extramarital affairs, struggle with depression and family turmoil in the new tome, reports the New York Post.
He writes: "He was a great star, but not a great man. Many great comedians were miserable human beings… Johnny suffered a great many demons brought about by what I call a toxic sort of mother. His mother couldn’t give a compliment. He’s the biggest star in the world and she couldn’t even acknowledge it." Bushkin alleges his former pal also frequently entertained female company while doing stand-up comedy in Las Vegas, adding there were "18 beautiful girls in the chorus line that opened his act… and he was certainly involved with some of them".
Once serving as Carson’s agent and manager, he adds: "At one time we did everything together. At the end, he treated me like everybody else - like I didn’t exist. At the end, it was like I was an irritant. In many respects, he was the saddest guy I ever knew."

Hollywood legend CLINT EASTWOOD has hinted his forthcoming starring role in GRAN TORINO will be his last ever acting job.
Eastwood has cut back on his acting career in recent years to concentrate on directing; his last role was in 2005’s Million Dollar Baby.
And the 78-year-old believes Gran Torino, which he directs and stars as a Vietnam veteran, will be his last turn as an actor.
He tells Ireland’s Sunday World newspaper, "It’ll (Gran Torino) probably be my last. I’ll be drummed out of it after this one. Every time you do a movie you think, ‘Aw, that’s enough of that.’ "I always feel it’s very comfortable to be behind the camera."

British rapper WILEY has slammed a hoax internet report alleging he had died, insisting he’s "totally OK".
The star became the second artist to be targetted by sick pranksters who posted a mock BBC article online at the weekend (01-02Nov08). Lil Wayne was the first to be falsely killed off.
In a note written on his MySpace.com page on Monday (03Nov08), Wiley - real name Richard Cowie - simply says, "I AM NOT DEAD." And his manager Suge has been busy assuring fans the rapper is alive and well.
He says, "Wiley’s totally OK, he just said to say, ‘I’m in the studio, recording a new tune. Knowing Wiley, he’ll probably make a tune about it (the fake reports).
"We’ve had people crying today about this situation and I think that that’s really sad. It is upsetting but I just believe the person who’s done it is obviously a sad individual to be putting such rumours like that out there." Peruvian-born singer YMA SUMAC has died nine months after she learned she had colon cancer. She was 86.
The 1950s sensation, real name Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chavarri del Castillo, passed away on Saturday (01Nov08) at an assisted-living home in Los Angeles.
Sumac, who boasted a multi-octave vocal range, rocketed to the top of the U.S. charts with her debut album, Voice of The Xtabay when it was released in 1950.
But it was her technique and flamboyant style, designed to make her look like Incan royalty, that helped earn her the nicknames the Peruvian Songbird and Nightingale of the Andes.
During her heyday, Sumac sang at the Hollywood Bowl, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall in London. She also reportedly made a fortune onstage in Las Vegas.
She also featured in the Broadway musical Flahooley and appeared in the movies Secret of the Incas and Omar Khayyam.
Her profile rose more recently when her song Ataypura was featured in The Coen Brothers’ 1998 film The Big Lebowski and again when her hit Bo Mambo was sampled for the song Hands Up by the Black Eyed Peas.
Her accomplishments were honoured in 2006 when she was presented the Orden del Sol award, commending her civil merit, by Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo.

Rumours of a sex tape featuring married hip hop star KELIS have taken a twist the man alleged to have filmed her naked has confirmed he once slept with the singer.
New York radio presenter Wendy Williams first sparked rumours of a tape, claiming on her show that she has a copy of the explicit footage.
Other sources claim it shows a man - identified as rapper/songwriter Infared - filming Kelis as she slept after they had a sexual encounter.
The man is even rumoured to goad Nas - who married Kelis in 2005 - boasting into the camera, "Handle your mother f**king business. I got your b**ch here, she (sic) getting naked.
Infared, who has worked with a number of stars including Jadakiss and Eve, confirms in an interview with Hip Hop Weekly that he enjoyed an "encounter" with Kelis.
But the New Yorker refuses to confirm he videotaped his meeting with the star - rumoured to have taken place in January 2007 - and he claims it could have happened before she married Nas.
He tells the magazine, "I knew Kelis in the hip hop world, and from clubbin’, hanging out.
"I heard that (sex tape) rumour. I don’t know (if she was married). She wasn’t wearing a wedding ring." Infared goes on to insist he has not been confronted by Nas over the allegations.

LATEST: Syrian-Lebanese singer GEORGE WASSOUF is set to appear in a Stockholm, Sweden court on Tuesday (04Nov08) when a judge will decide whether to remand him in custody on suspicion of drug possession.
Wassouf, 46, was arrested just hours before he was set to take the stage in the city on Saturday (01Nov08) following a police raid of his hotel in the Swedish capital.
He was accused of being in possession "of a few grams" of cocaine.
Police officials in the western Stockholm district confirm Wassouf remains in police custody.
Prosecutor Rolf Hillegren tells Associated Press: "I have asked the court to remand him in custody. The court will hear the matter tomorrow (Tuesday)." Hillegran adds Wassouf could face "a few months" in prison in convicted.

Dancehall star SPRAGGA BENZ has accused two officers in his native Jamaica of "murdering" his 17-year-old son.
According to a police report, Carlton Grant Jr., 17, was killed during an incident on 23 August (08) after he and a friend opened fire on cops who had stopped them on their bicycles in Kingston. Police returned the shots, prompting the pair to flee. They later found Grant Jr.’s body close to the scene of the shoot-out.
Eye witnesses have claimed the two men were unarmed and were shot as they attempted to surrender to police.
And now Benz has spoken out - claiming the two boys were murdered because the shooting was unprovoked.
The 39-year-old - real name Carlton Grant Sr. - tells Hip Hop Weekly, "My son wasn’t a bad kid.
"It was straight murder. Police took it for a game. They just shot Carlton right away.
"They tried to say they had a gun, but everybody who saw what happened told the boys’ hands were in the air all the time.
"Police were under no attack whatsoever, but I take it as a personal attack against me, for them to come and just kill my son like that.
"They take it for a joke to kill people in Jamaica."

SAMUEL L. JACKSON is preparing to take on the villainous lead role in a remake of kung-fu cult classic THE LAST DRAGON.
Jackson will star as Sho’Nuff in the remake of Berry Gordy’s 1985 classic centring on the story of tough street kid Leroy Green’s quest to become a martial arts legend.
Bosses at Columbia Pictures, who are the helm of the remake, have signed Jackson up to play the legendary baddie role made famous by late actor Julias Carey.
And Jackson can’t wait to bring the character back to the big-screen, telling the Hollywood Reporter, "I’m a huge fan of the original and look forward to bringing Sho’Nuff into the 21st century." The original The Last Dragon, starring Taimak, The Cosby Show star Keshia Knight Pulliam and William H. Macy, grossed $26 million (£16.2 million) at the U.S. box office.

KELLY OSBOURNE has fuelled speculation she’s ready to walk down the aisle after reportedly moving in with her model boyfriend LUKE WORRALL.

Actor JOAQUIN PHOENIX has dismissed reports he has suffered a booze relapse, after his allegedly bizarre behaviour at a recent event sparked concern over his health.
The Walk The Line actor, who was treated at an alcohol rehab centre three years ago, prompted alarm when he showed up to a tribute to late actor Paul Newman last week (27Oct08) in San Francisco.
According to the New York Post, other actors were performing scenes and readings, but Phoenix just got up and walked out.
A source tells the newspaper, "He wobbled back in a bit later, but it was odd. He was slurring his words and was unsteady on his feet." The episode came just before the 34-year-old actor announced his plans to retire from acting at the event, prompting further concern for his wellbeing.
But a spokesperson for Phoenix has dismissed the reports, adding: "He’s fine.
He just wants to focus on music, and he’ll be at the screening of his film ‘Two Lovers’ on Saturday (08Nov08) night in L.A., and he’s directed a number of music videos over the past couple of years."

MARY-KATE OLSEN shocked American audiences during a recent TV appearance - when she persuaded a late night talk-show host to take his clothes off on air.
The former child star made an appearance on Friday’s (31Oct08) Late Night with Conan O’Brien, when the cheeky host asked for her fashion advice.
And the 22-year-old actress was keen to help him strip off.
Standing up to style O’Brien, Olsen dared, "If you were a woman you could pull of a high-waisted pant. I would take off the tie and the jacket… roll up your sleeves, undo your (collar). And then I would take this shirt off underneath, but then you’d have to really just show it all right now." Following her instructions, O’Brien lifted his shirt before the red-faced actress added: "You’re wearing Calvin Klein briefs now aren’t you?"

Acclaimed pianist and composer RABBI MOSHE COTEL has died at the age of 65.
Rabbi Cotel passed away on Friday (24Oct08) at his home in Manhattan, New York of natural causes.
He began his studies taking college preparatory courses at the Peabody Conservatory, where at 13 he had already written a 200-page score.
After completing his studies, Cotel was accepted at New York’s Juilliard School of music, where he earned bachelors and masters degrees. At 23, he won the prestigious Rome Prize in music composition.
Among his notable compositions are Deronda and Trope for Orchestra and The Fire and the Mountains, in honour of the Holocaust.
In 1972, he returned to the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University as a professor of music composition.
In 2000, he retired from Peabody as chairman of the composition department to focus full time on his rabbi duties. He was ordained in 2003 and served as spiritual leader of Temple Beth El of Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn, New York.
His most recent compositions include Chronicles: A Jewish Life and the Classical Piano and Chronicles II, focusing on lessons of the Torah.
He is survived by his wife, Aliya, and daughter, Orli.

The brother of late punk legend JOEY RAMONE has blasted the widow of his sibling’s bandmate JOHNNY RAMONE after she publicly endorsed U.S. presidential candidate JOHN McCAIN’s bid for the White House.
Linda Cummings, who was married to the late guitarist - real name John Cummings - has reportedly spoken out in support of the Republican and his running mate Sarah Palin’s campaign.
But Joey Ramone’s brother Mickey Leigh, who helps run Ramones Productions, is furious Cummings is using the band’s name to back a possible McCain administration - insisting the Ramones as a band were not supporters of the Republican party.
In a statement, Leigh says, "It has been brought to my attention that Linda Cummings, using the name Ramone, has been in the media joining with the Palin family and the McCains to attempt to aid their campaign for the Presidency.
"As a President of Ramones Productions, and brother of Joey Ramone, I just want it to be clear that Linda Cummings does not represent the political views of the Ramones.
"Surely, as for Joey Ramone, the only Ramones song he would sing at a Republican campaign event would be Glad To See You Go." And Leigh makes reference to Johnny Ramone’s speech at the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in 2002, where he proclaimed, "God Bless George Bush" - saying the confusing comment now makes sense.
He adds, "I should add that when Johnny stated ‘God Bless George Bush’ at the 2002 Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame awards, I realise now that he was on to something. Because if it were not for George Bush and his handling of our country the past eight years, I doubt so many Americans, including so many highly regarded Republicans, would now be getting behind (Democratic candidate) Barack Obama. So, yes, God bless George Bush for paving the way to Obama." Joey Ramone lost his battle with lymphoma in 2001, aged 49.
Johnny Ramone died in 2004 after a battle with prostate cancer and was believed to be a Republican voter, once telling reporters: "I think Ronald Reagan was the best president of my lifetime."

Rockers FALL OUT BOY have smashed the world record for the most radio interviews recorded in 24 hours after taping 72 chats on Friday (31Oct08).
Bandmembers Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump kicked off their talkathon on Halloween in Los Angeles at 3am local time - and talked non-stop for 12 hours to promote their upcoming album Folie A Deux.
And the stars managed to surpass the previous record of 57, set in May (08) by unreported interviewees, to set a new Guinness World Record for Most Interviews On Radio In a 24 Hour Period By A Pair Of Two.
Writing on his blog before the record-breaking attempt, Wentz said: "Woke up at 2.15am tonight. Pretty awesome. Dog didn’t even get up to say goodbye.
That’s when u know its (sic) early."
