U2 TOWER PLANS SCRAPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

Rockers U2 have been forced to suspend plans to build Ireland’s first skyscraper because of the global economic downturn.
The band had previously announced proposals to construct the U2 Tower in the heart of Dublin, Ireland, which would house a variety of luxury apartments and the group’s recording studio.
The project - which was to be designed by leading architect Norman Foster was set to cost an estimated $256.8 million (£158.5 million). But the current international financial crisis has forced the band to suspend the plans indefinitely.
A statement from the Dublin Docklands Authority (DDA) says, "The objective is to see this landmark project completed.
"However, given the current unfavourable economic environment, more time is needed at this juncture.
"The Docklands Authority will review all of its options on an on-going basis."
