CAREY TIPS OFF STARLETS ON HOW TO MAKE AN EXIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

MARIAH CAREY has offered Hollywood’s young female stars advice on how to get out of cars without exposing themselves to the lenses of the paparazzi.
The pop singer admits she feels bad for the young stars who are caught without their knickers as they’re swarmed by photographers.
And she has offered up her expertise after her own embarrassing incident.
Carey says: "They (photographers) got me one time but at least I had underwear on. I was very thankful for that.
"You lead with the leg, place the hand down and then you’re up. Hopefully somebody is standing in front of you (and) then you proceed to walk." But the singer also believes starlets should consider what type of vehicle they’ll be stepping out of when they get dressed for a glitzy party, launch or premiere: "You don’t want to be in an Escalade (SUV) in a teensy skirt - that’s not easy."

FOGLE CATCHES FLESH-EATING VIRUS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

British TV presenter BEN FOGLE has contracted a potentially life-threatening flesh-eating disease while filming a BBC series in Peru.
The 34-year-old has developed a large, gaping hole in his right arm following his return from shooting adventure programme Extreme Dreams in the Peruvian jungle. He is now being treated at London’s Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
The wound is believed to have been caused by the often fatal leishmaniasis, but the exact strain of the infection has yet to be discovered.
Fogle’s spokesman says, "The infection can attack internal organs and can be fatal. The strain of infection will be determined in the next few days. It is important he has treatment quickly." But the TV star remains upbeat about his condition, adding, "After 13 expeditions to remote parts of the world, I would consider myself lucky. This is the first time I’m ill. I have every confidence in the specialists treating me." Fogle shot to fame in 2000 after taking part in the BBC’s reality show Castaway and has since forged a successful career as a TV presenter.

KIDMAN REFUSES TO SHOW OFF HER BABY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

NICOLE KIDMAN refuses to show her baby daughter off to the world - because she’s keen to keep her precious child as protected as possible.
The actress gave birth to Sunday Rose in July (08) and she insists there won’t be any family magazine spread or intimate shots she releases online.
That means, she and husband Keith Urban are willing to fight the world’s paparazzi over what has become a top-price first picture of the new baby.
She tells the upcoming issue of America’s Parade magazine, "People say, ‘Oh, it would be so much easier if you’d just let them (paparazzi) get a photo of her.’ And I can’t. I’m like, ‘I don’t want to. I want her to stay out of that.’ "Maybe that will wane as she gets bigger, and I’ll be easier with it. But, for now, I’m keeping her in a bubble."

YEOH CAMPAIGNS FOR CHILD HELMET LAW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

Former BOND girl MICHELLE YEOH has launched a crusade for a new law requiring Vietnamese children to wear motorcycle crash helmets.
The Chinese actress became a leading lady in the campaign, and joined 1,000 Vietnamese children in a march through Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday (30Oct08).
The initiative is part of a global campaign aiming to cut the world’s annual road death toll of 1.3 million people.
Government officials have enforced helmet use for adults, but the law has not been extended to children and youths riding as passengers.
And Yeoh says, "Since last year when the law was enacted, overnight 80-90 per cent of riders started wearing helmets
. But the kids are wearing baseball caps instead..
. The parents need to protect the children.
"Unfortunately, many parents reject helmets for their kids out of a mistaken perception that helmets are unsafe for children.
"Today, tomorrow and every day, we will see at least 2,000 young children killed or seriously injured on the world’s roads
. This is unacceptable, preventable and we have to stop it
. We have the vaccines for this disease: helmets, seatbelts, speed enforcement, safe road design
. We just need to use them."

PAPARAZZO GIVES CONFLICTING TESTIMONY IN REEVES COURT CASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

KEANU REEVES got a boost in his ongoing court case against a paparazzo, after the photographer was accused of giving conflicting accounts of the incident he alleges left him seriously injured.
Photographer Alison Silva is suing Reeves, claiming the Speed actor knocked him to the ground in March 2007 with his car.
Silva alleges he was left with debilitating injuries to his wrist, which has affected his ability to work. He is seeking compensation to cover medical costs and damages.
Questioned by Reeves’ defence attorney on Thursday (30Oct08), Silva recounted another incident earlier this year (08), when he was beaten by fellow photographers while shooting photos of Britney Spears.
Silva acknowledged the Spears incident forced him to delay a second surgery to repair damage in his left wrist, attributed to his run-in with Reeves.
The confusion fuelled earlier contradictions after a fire department captain testified on Wednesday (29Oct08) that Silva complained of pain in his left knee moments after his fall, despite later complaining to doctors Reeves’ Porsche hit his right knee.
The captain also testified Silva was clutching his camera when paramedics arrived, contrary to the paparazzo’s testimony he dropped his camera when he says Reeves hit him with his car.
According to reports, Silva claimed he could not remember aspects of the incident and statements he made to emergency responders and doctors.
Reeves, 44, has denied he hit Silva, insisting the snapper stumbled as he backed away from the vehicle.
The case is expected to go in front of a jury by Friday (31Oct08).

TRIAL SET FOR MILLER PAPARAZZI LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

SIENNA MILLER’s paparazzi lawsuit is going to trial - after the actress’ lawyers accused photographers of waging a "campaign of harassment" against her.
Miller is suing photographic agency Big Pictures (UK) Limited and its founder, Darryn Lyons, claiming the company’s constant "relentless pursuit" of her has breached the star’s human rights. The actress has accused the firm of harassment and invasion of privacy.
At a preliminary hearing at London’s High Court on Thursday (30Oct08), Miller’s attorney, David Sherborne, insisted that the Alfie star had endured being chased while driving and suffered "other forms of physical and verbal intimidation or abuse in their (snappers) attempts to obtain photographs of her for commercial exploitation." Judge Justice Eady announced a trial should be set for the first available date after 12 January (09).
Earlier this year (08) Miller won $27,750 (£15,000) in damages from a British newspaper over invasion of privacy claims regarding a set of photos they published of the star.
Miller accepted damages from the newspaper in an out-of-court settlement, and the newspaper’s editors agreed to print an apology to the actress over the pictures, which were taken in Los Angeles on 11 September (08).

SPELLING ENVIOUS OF ALBA’S FIGURE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Actress TORI SPELLING had a hard time regaining her pre-pregnancy figure, but looked to JESSICA ALBA for inspiration to shed the weight.
The star welcomed her second child, Stella Doreen, on 9 June (08), whilst Alba gave birth to Honor Marie a few days earlier, on 7 June (08).
And it was seeing photos of the slim The Fantastic Four actress that spurred Spelling on to get back in shape.
She says, "I would look at pictures of myself and compare them to Jessica Alba, who had her baby two days before me. I’d see photos of her two months after and go, ‘Look at her!’" But being a mum to Stella and one-year-old Liam came first to Spelling, and she refused to forfeit her time with them for the sake of her figure.
She adds, "The best way to lose weight is to make it a family affair. It has changed my life. It’s easier now because I’m not as focused on it. Take your time. If you get obsessed, you’ll miss out on great moments with your children.”
