Fans of rock legends LED ZEPPELIN have hit out at the band’s plans to tour without frontman ROBERT PLANT The legendary rockers’ bassist John Paul Jones admitted this week (begs 27Oct08) that the group is seeking a replacement for Plant so they can hit the road and also record new material.
But the announcement has prompted outrage from some fans, who have bombarded Internet forums to criticise the move.
One user wrote on NME.com: "Sacrilege, how can they do this?" And another wrote: "ridiculous…Plant’s voice is half of what made Zep who they were. It simply isn’t Led Zeppelin without him."

Rocker BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN has scrapped his annual Halloween party - because his neighbours might be too spooked out by the ghostly goings-on.
The Born In The USA hitmaker and his wife, Patti Scialfa, usually throw a party for family and friends on October 31 at their home in Rumson, New Jersey.
But the couple has cancelled this year’s bash amid fears too many people will attend and pose a threat to local children.
Writing on his website, Springsteen said: "So as not to inconvenience you this Halloween, due to ‘catastrophic success’ (read: too many visitors for the neighborhood to handle) and concern for the safety of kids and parents! we won’t be having our usual Halloween display this year in Rumson. We wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!"

Actor COLIN FARRELL has opened up about box-office blunder ALEXANDER four years after its release - insisting he’s just getting over his disappointment at the movie flop.
Farrell played the ancient Greek conqueror in the 2004 Oliver Stone flick, which co-starred Angelina Jolie and Val Kilmer.
The film made a mere fourth of its reported $155 million (£98.7million) budget back at the U.S
. box-office, adding to the actor’s stress from movie critics who were disappointed with his performance.
Farrell confesses: "Alexander hurt, you know - and again people are going to say ‘Get over it, you were well-paid’ and all that
. But Alexander hurt.
"The response that it got was really painful and all of us got a really hard time, and I didn’t come across too well either in the majority of reviews and even with the audiences - people did not respond to it.
"It was a film that was made to be seen by many people
. Not many people saw it and they weren’t particularly fond of it, and that was s**t, it was really s**t..
. I took it to heart
. I felt like I had let a lot of people down, I felt like I had disappointed a lot of people ..
. And it took a while to get over that." And the star admits he’s just starting to recover from the backlash, adding: "I probably got a bit disillusioned after that
. I think only in the last couple of years starting with (new film) Pride and Glory has that disillusionment ceased to be something that is still present in my life regarding the work."

JAY-Z, MARY J. BLIGE and SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS have made a last ditch attempt to back U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama with an open letter to the nation’s voters.
The trio - joined by former Def Jam president Kevin Liles - signed the letter one week before the nation votes for its next president, and although Obama is heading the early polls, the hip-hop heavyweights do not want voters to become complacent.
The letter reads, "There is still so much work to be done. The thrill of victory is just one week away. We hear it in the streets, we feel it in our hearts and it’s burning in our souls.
"Together, we have successfully registered the most young voters in the history of the modern political process. We called a State Of Emergency on October 3rd at 6:00AM and our culture stood up and recognized the importance of registering millions of voters." The election takes place on 4 November (08).

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE has shot down rumours she could lose her voice through drug use - insisting she is hard at work on her new album.
The Back to Black star, 25, was said to have returned to rehab at the weekend (25-26Oct08) but it later emerged she had been treated at The London Clinic for a chest problem.
She has since posted a video on her website, telling fans she plans to release new material soon - and her spokesman has blasted rumours the singer could lose her voice as a result of her wild lifestyle.
He says, "Amy isn’t on a deadline with her album. The last album’s still selling. She’s in and out of the studio working… the record company hasn’t seen the final result yet. Amy’s fine."

Hit U.S. TV series THE SOPRANOS may have been killed off last year (08) - but a group of wine makers are bottling up its success and putting it on shelves this autumn (08).
Sopranos Wines are being produced under a licensing agreement between TV network HBO and New-York based Vesuvio Import Company.
A network spokesperson says: "We feel that these quality Italian wines are the perfect complement to all of our other carefully planned product extensions for The Sopranos brand." The line will feature wines including Chianti, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, made from various Italian wineries.

Actress OLGA KURYLENKO is unfazed that topless photos of her during her youth have surfaced - because they were taken "artistically".
A series of half-naked snaps of the new Bond girl, 28, have emerged since she was cast in Quantum of Solace, but Kurylenko is not bothered by the photos, insisting they are not "unusual".
She says, "There are no actresses who haven’t appeared naked. These things are not unusual.
"All the magazine pictures are artistic. I didn’t do any pornography. It was all done in silhouette. It was advertising stuff.
"It’s something I have done but it’s not what I enjoy doing. It was part of the job. I haven’t been modelling for a few years now. I don’t have to. Movies are my passion.
"I always have respect towards people and I do everything with love and respect. There are much graver things in the world to worry about."

A representative for hit U.S. daytime show THE VIEW has been forced to deny rumours of an off-set feud between co-hosts ELISABETH HASSELBECK and JOY BEHAR.
The relationship between the pair - famed for their heated on-air debates over their political views - has reportedly become so strained that they have been involved in screaming matches backstage.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the animosity between the pair "has gotten so ugly, they only speak on air or when a camera is anywhere in their vicinity".
The rumours stem from the pair’s angry conversations about the forthcoming U.S. presidential elections. Hasselbeck is a staunch Republican and John McCain supporter, while Behar is backing Democratic candidate Barack Obama.
But a spokesperson for the popular ABC programme refutes the claims, insisting rumours of a feud between the two hosts have been around since they started the show.
The representative tells Usmagazine.com, "These fabricated rumors about alleged dissention between Elisabeth and Joy are as untrue today as they were yesterday, a week ago and when the rumour(s) first started." The denial comes just days after fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg revealed Hasselbeck receives death threats from angry anti-Republican viewers.

GIRLS GONE WILD founder JOE FRANCIS has launched a bitter attack against LINDSAY LOHAN’s DJ girlfriend SAMANTHA RONSON - branding her a "disgusting human being".
A war of words erupted between the pair after Ronson slammed Francis for allegedly ignoring her while chatting to her Mean Girls partner at the MTV Video Music Awards last month (08).
Ronson claims that when Francis approached Lohan at the Los Angeles event he looked at her "as if I wasn’t a human being" - insisting Francis has "no manners".
And Francis has hit back against the star during an appearance on America’s The Tyra Banks Show, insisting he didn’t understand why the pair were together and alleging Lohan isn’t even "gay".
He told chatshow host Tyra Banks, "(Ronson is) very jealous. Samantha tried to start a fight with me. I care about Lindsay - she’s not gay. She’s being controlled by this… wretched woman, this Samantha." But the actress has now hit back in the row.
She wrote on her official blog, "Joe Francis has no place in saying anything about Samantha… especially after all the s**t he has done."

LATEST: British comedian RUSSELL BRAND and broadcaster JONATHAN ROSS have been suspended over their prank phone calls to FAWLTY TOWERS legend ANDREW SACHS.
The BBC has taken all of the pair’s shows off air until the corporation has investigated the calls, made during Brand’s Radio 2 show.
The duo provoked outrage by leaving a series of crude phone messages for Sachs, in which they claimed Brand had slept with the actor’s granddaughter Georgina, during show on 18 October (08).
Exotic dancer Georgina has since hit out at Brand in Britain’s The Sun newspaper, calling for the funnyman to be sacked over the incident - and more than 18,000 people have complained to U.K. broadcasting regulator Ofcom.
The BBC’s director general Mark Thompson announced the pair had been suspended on Wednesday (29Oct08) and apologised unreservedly for the "completely unacceptable" broadcast.
Thompson says, "This is not a marginal case. It’s clear from the views expressed by the public that this broadcast has caused severe offence and I share that view.
"This gross lapse of taste by the performers and the production team has angered licence payers." The announcement comes after Prime Minster Gordon Brown condemned the duo for the broadcast.

Rapper SWIZZ BEATZ has been honoured for his work with sick children at a New York hospital.
The Grammy Award-winner received the Breakthrough Spirit Award at The Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation (Ccbf) on 28 October (08) in New York City.
The honour comes after the hip-hop star visited children with cancer or serious blood diseases in hospital.
He said of the award, "I was really impressed by the dedication of the doctors and researchers, and the struggle and bravery of the children. It was a moving experience for me and I am very honoured to be a recipient of this year’s Spirit Award."

The prime suspect in the murders of JENNIFER HUDSON’s mother, brother and nephew was arrested for drug possession in June (08) - but was reportedly set free by a judge.
William Balfour is currently being quizzed by police over the slayings of Darnell Donerson, Jason Hudson, and seven year old Julian King in Chicago, Illinois.
And it has emerged he was held by cops for allegedly possessing cocaine earlier this year (08), but was freed after a judge dismissed the charge for lack of probable cause.
Legal experts claim the arrest itself could have been enough to put Balfour back behind bars for months, because it violated a previous probation order.
Under U.S. law, criminal charges can result in parolees being returned to prison even if the counts are ultimately dropped.
In Balfour’s case, he could have been sent back to jail for the remainder of his parole - which is due to end in May 2009. With good behaviour, he would have been released in December (08).
Oscar-winner Hudson’s mother Darnell and brother Jason were gunned down at their home in Chicago on Friday (24Oct08). Her nephew, Julian King, was missing for three days after the slayings. His body was discovered in a car in the city on Monday (27Oct08).

PEACHES GELDOF’s rocker husband MAX DRUMMEY has cancelled a U.K. tour with his band CHESTER FRENCH after poor ticket sales.
The drummer shot to fame in August (08) with his shock Las Vegas wedding to Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, after the pair had been dating for just a month.
Amid a flurry of publicity following the hasty nuptials, Chester French planned a six-gig tour across Britain in October and November (08).
But despite the heightened interest in the duo, who are mentored by hip-hop superstar Pharrell Williams, they have been forced to cancel the planned dates after a lack of public interest.
On their MySpace.com page, the pair write, "As some of you may have noticed, we’ve had to cancel some tour dates in October and November. We apologise and thank you for your understanding and we hope to be through a town near you in the very near future."

OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER has written the band’s next LP - just weeks after the rockers released their DIG OUT YOUR SOUL album.
The group released their seventh studio album earlier this month (Oct08), which shot to the top of the U.K. charts.
But Gallagher hasn’t been riding on the wave of his latest success - he has prepared most of the band’s follow-up material and is working on a solo project.
And the star promises the new songs are a radical departure from the usual Oasis riffs.
He tells Billboard magazine, "They all seem to be based around the same four or five chords. It’s vastly different from what Dig Out Your Soul is.
"There’s stuff about soldiers and religious people and rock stars and travellers. They seem to be all songs about people, but not people I know. And they all seem to have a narrative; it’s kind of like a story which follows on from song to song."

CELINE DION will start trying for a second child when she completes her world tour.
The My Heart Will Go On singer, 40, and her husband Rene Angelil welcomed son Rene-Charles in 2001 after undergoing fertility treatments.
Seven years on, Dion wants to attempt the process again - but she won’t be too disappointed if she fails to conceive the second time around.
The star, who is currently on her Taking Chances World Tour, tells chatshow queen Oprah Winfrey, "We are going to give it a try after my tour. Hopefully we are pregnant again.
"I have a small window of hope. But we have been so blessed already. We tried six years for Rene Charles. We have our miracle baby."

And the couple has put plans to expand their family on hold for the time being so Beckham can achieve her goal.
The insider adds, "She wants to get the run out of the way because once she gets pregnant it’ll be ages before she has the opportunity again." The Beckhams are parents to Brooklyn, nine; Romeo, six; and Cruz, three.

MADONNA’s estranged husband GUY RITCHIE has reportedly snubbed a $31 million (£20 million) offer from the pop superstar to settle their divorce out of court.
The pair announced earlier this month (Oct08) that they are to divorce following seven-and-a-half years of marriage.
They have been locked in divorce negotiations ever since - but director Ritchie is allegedly refusing to settle without a fight.
A source says, "Guy is certainly not going to accept the first offer - £20 million is a lot of cash, but not in their world." Madonna’s fortune is estimated at a staggering $468 million (£300 million).
The former couple is also at odds over their custody plans. Madonna is said to be planning to move to New York with their son Rocco, eight, adopted son David, and Lourdes, 12, the singer’s daughter from a previous relationship while Ritchie wants them to remain close to his London home.
