PROJECT RUNWAY BOSSES FILE COUNTER-SUIT
HEIDI KLUM’s U.S. reality programme PROJECT RUNWAY is in further turmoil after producers filed a counter-suit against bosses at the show’s former TV network.
Executives at NBC station Bravo won a court-ordered injunction, blocking the show’s $150 million (£95.5million) sale to Lifetime network last summer (08).
The series’ producers at Weinstein Company reportedly filed suit on Friday (24Oct08), claiming the channel diminished the show’s value.
New court documents accuse Bravo executives of "running a small number of ads, creating mundane and unappealing ads, providing little information for the press about the season premiere, and revealing spoilers about future episodes." Producers also claim when network executives "began to suspect that the show might move to a rival network, it created ‘copycat shows’ based on the Runway format".
Bravo announced a new series - tentatively titled Fashion House - on Monday (27Oct08).
A court date for Bravo’s suit has been scheduled next month (Nov08).
