Rapper COMMON has delayed the release of his upcoming album for a second time.
The hip-hop star’s eighth LP, Universal Mind Control, was originally set to hit shops this summer (08), but was subsequently pushed back until November (08).
And the record, featuring Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, has been postponed once again - Common has announced the disc will now be made available on 9 December (08).

LED ZEPPELIN bassist JOHN PAUL JONES is keen to avoid hiring a singer who sounds like ROBERT PLANT to stop their reunion turning into a "tribute"act.
The legendary rockers have confirmed they are to embark on a world tour and record a new album without frontman Plant, and are seeking a replacement for him.
A number of potential new lead singers have been linked with the Kashmir hitmakers, including Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, who has reportedly already rehearsed with the band.
But Jones insists they are striving to avoid vocalists who emulate Plant’s unique style - for fear the new line-up will sound like a poor imitation of the band in its heyday.
He says, "We are trying out a couple of singers. We want to do it. It’s sounding great and we want to get on and get out there.
"There’s no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don’t want to be our own tribute band. "There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board."

PUSSYCAT DOLLS founder ROBIN ANTIN called police last week (beg20Oct08) when she caught a man trying to break in to her home.
Antin, the choreographer behind the hit girl group, dialled 911 on Thursday (23Oct08) night when she discovered someone was attempting to gain access to her Los Angeles home.
However, when police arrived they found the man, who was inebriated, was not attempting to rob the property but was trying to enter the wrong house in his drunken state.
The unnamed man was arrested and charged with one misdemeanour count of being drunk in public, according to TMZ.com.

Rapper LIL WAYNE disappointed scores of fans on Monday (27Oct08) by failing to turn up to a gig in Boston, Massachusetts.
The hip-hop star was slated to appear at the Monster Jam concert alongside other headline acts including Jay-Z and Ne-Yo.
However, the Lollipop hitmaker reportedly refused to comply with security procedures at the TD Banknorth Garden venue and pass through a metal detector, according to the Boston Herald newspaper.
Lil Wayne is then said to have left, without performing - leaving his fans waiting anxiously for an hour.
But the concert was saved when rap superstar Jay-Z extended his set to fill the gap, returning to the stage after his slot to boost the crowd with a series of impromptu songs.

A host of stars including TOM HANKS, JACK NICHOLSON, JULIA ROBERTS and SEAN PENN turned out for an annual fundraiser for late actor PAUL NEWMAN’s children’s charity.
Newman died after a battle with cancer on 26 September (08), at the age of 83.
The gala was held on Monday (27Oct08) night in San Francisco to benefit The Painted Turtle, a camp for children with life-threatening illnesses, which was started by Newman in 1999.
And celebrities attending the event used the opportunity to pay their respects to the acting legend.
Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover told the crowd, "We expected Paul to be with us and so this kind of turned into kind of a tribute. This is the first time we are doing this without Paul - there is a void there, without a doubt." Fellow actor Tom Hanks - who starred with Newman in 2002’s Road to Perdition - also took to the stage, calling for the late star’s humanitarian efforts to be recognised officially.
He adds, "Paul was a member of the ensemble more than anything else. He didn’t care about the hierarchy, but he was a guy, quite frankly, who should have won the Nobel Peace Prize." Newman and his charitable organisations donated more than $250 million (£162 million) to good causes over the years.

Hollywood star KATE HUDSON’s Halloween party attracted some unusual guests - a squad of Los Angeles cops reportedly swooped on the bash and ordered revellers to tone it down.
The Almost Famous star, 29, was dressed as a 1960s flight attendant when LAPD officers arrived at her Brentwood, L.A. home at 1am on Sunday morning (26Oct) to move revellers inside the property and warn them to keep the noise down.
The hit party was attended by Courtney Cox, dressed as a witch, and husband David Arquette as a warlock. Actress Winona Ryder went as a mouse, former supermodel Cindy Crawford turned up as U.K. hellraiser Amy Winehouse outfit.
But it was 300 star Gerard Butler who was the biggest hit at the bash A source adds, "All the girls at the party were lining up to talk to Gerard.

Burlesque star DITA VON TEESE has an extra special costume lined up for Halloween - she will dress in jeans and a t-shirt.
The raven-haired exotic dancer usually opts for the vamp look, spending most days wearing corsets, stockings, and high heels, teamed with flame-red lipstick.
So for Halloween, she plans to don an outfit that "normal girls" wear insisting it’s her special costume.
She tells Britain’s Channel 4, "For Halloween, I’m going to look like a normal girl, put some bronzer on, some spray tan on and wear some jeans.
"People will ask me where my costume is! I would never do this in normal life, that’s why I’ll do it at Halloween. It’s a bit funny and people think I’m not wearing a costume but I really am."

A controversial 1970s biopic of the prophet Muhammad is to receive a big-screen makeover - THE MESSAGE is to be remade for modern film fans.
The English-language movie provoked outrage among Muslims prior to its release when it was rumoured that actor Anthony Quinn would portray the religious leader.
Depictions of the prophet are unheard of in Islam because of fears it will lead to idolatry, which is forbidden in the religion.
The claims that Quinn had been cast as Muhammad sparked riots in the U.S. in 1977, resulting in the death of two people. Quinn did not play Muhammad instead director Moustapha Akkad signified the prophet’s presence in scenes with light organ music.
Now the film’s producer, Oscar Zoghbi, has revealed plans to revamp the 1976 movie and give it a modern twist.
He is looking to shoot the remake, titled The Messenger of Peace, in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
But Zoghbi insists he is not trying to cause offence with the film.
He says, "We have only the utmost respect for (the original film) but technology in cinema has advanced since the 1970s. This latest project will employ modern film techniques in its renewal of the first film’s core messages."

Hollywood socialite CHRIS PACIELLO has spoken out about his shady past insisting he deserved to go to prison for his crimes.
The nightlife entrepreneur - real name Christian Ludwigsen - has been desperate to make a new start in Los Angeles since his name was tarnished by a series of criminal convictions.
Paciello walked free from jail in 2006 after serving seven years of a 10-year sentence for taking part in a bungled raid in Staten Island, New York in 1983 that left a woman dead.
And the former thug - who is said to have once dated Madonna - doesn’t fear enemies from his past may seek revenge, insisting he isn’t afraid to die.
He tells New York gossip column PageSix, "If someone feels they want to come after me and get revenge, then that’s going to happen. I don’t live my life in fear.
"I’m not bragging that nobody could touch me… But I lived my life way worse in New York looking over my shoulder, carrying guns and robbing drug dealers.
Those things could have gotten me killed a lot quicker than me changing my life." He adds, "Jail is humiliating and demeaning. Most of the people, including myself, deserved to be there at that time. I try not to be bitter. I have no right. I hurt people and I deserved to be there."

LATEST: Actor PAUL HOGAN has demanded an apology from Australian tax authorities over a five-year investigation into his finances - insisting officials "bullied" him throughout the process.
The Crocodile Dundee star was accused of distorting his residency status to avoid paying tax, with the Australian Crime Commission alleging he hoarded millions of Australian dollars in foreign havens.
In August (08), court documents stated there was a "scheme or conspiracy" between Hogan and his tax advisor Tony Stewart to misrepresent his status by producing "sham" travel movements.
It was also alleged this was so the star could receive money when he "was not a tax resident of any country and therefore the payment was free of tax".
But Hogan, who lives in Santa Barbara, California, has vehemently denied the accusations, and claims the Commission has made his life hell throughout their investigation.
He told reporters on Tuesday (27Oct08), "I’ve been shocked by the bullying tactics and the strange laws in Australia. These people have bullied me and my friends.
"They come after you and you have no right to speak to the press, but they the enemy - they just leak to the press." He added, "I’m just waiting for the big apology… that’s not going to happen but it should." The Australian Crime Commission has refused to comment on whether the probe into Hogan’s tax affairs is ongoing.

ANJELICA HUSTON’s actor half-brother DANNY has been left "devastated" by the death of his estranged wife - who killed herself earlier this month (Oct08).
British model Katie Jane Evans jumped from the roof of her Manhattan, New York apartment after a desperate phone call to police.
She had reportedly been battling drink and drug addiction before the tragedy.
The death occurred in early October (08) but the news wasn’t released publicly until 25 October.
And Danny Huston, star of How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, is said to be broken by the death of his wife of six years.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "She was on anti-depressants and had been in and out of rehab clinics for months. On the night she killed herself, she called the police to tell them she had taken an overdose, but she jumped before they could save her."

Singer DIDO took time out of recording her new album this summer (08) to have music lessons at a Los Angeles university.
The Thank You hitmaker managed to go unnoticed at the University of California as she took evening classes in music and English.
She says, "I just wanted to use my brain. No-one noticed. It’s great, no one ever does. I don’t go out of my way to be noticed, but I wasn’t wearing a fake beard or anything.
"I went to study some orchestration stuff because I got so inspired working with all the orchestras. I would go off a couple of evenings a week and come back to the studio completely fired and with my brain in a completely different place.
"It’s actually amazing because you go so far into another side of your brain when you’re studying something completely different, and I loved it." Dido will release her first album for five years, Safe Trip Home, next month (Nov08).

Teen singer/actress SELENA GOMEZ has no confidence in her driving skills predicting it’ll be another 14 years before she gets her licence.
The Disney star began the application process for a California driving licence after turning 16 in July (08), but admits she is put off getting behind the wheel by all the bureaucracy.
And although she’s booked to take her driving test next week (04Nov08), she doubts she will pass first time.
She tells People.com, "I had to take 19 tests in California! It’s the weirdest thing ever. I have to take, like, an online course, and then I have to go take my actual permit test at the DMV. So I will take that November 4, but I don’t know.
"I’m not feeling that confident about it. I’m assuming I’ll be 30 before I get my licence!"

THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS’ frontman MILES KANE was so desperate to perform with JACK WHITE that he "bullied" the WHITE STRIPES guitarist into joining him onstage.
Kane and his bandmate, Arctic Monkeys star Alex Turner, raced backstage after White’s set with The Raconteurs at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival last June (08) to plead with him to play on their cover of Billy Fury’s Wondrous Place.
White told the pair he had never heard the song - but they so determined to coax him on stage that they badgered him until he gave in.
Kane says, "We really forced him into it. For a solid 15 minutes, I just pestered him. ‘Come on, Jack. Come on, Jack. Do it, Jack. Please, Jack. Are you gonna do it, Jack? Come on, Jack!’" Turner adds: "It weren’t the best version of the song ever, and a lot of people knocked it. But I thought it were cool! I thought it was totally in the spirit of the festival. Just the way he walked on, more than anything else.

Aussie MTV host DARREN McMULLEN has been arrested for appearing drunk in public while holidaying in Los Angeles.
The Scottish-born host of MTV Australia’s The Lair was held by police on Saturday night (25Oct08) for public intoxication, a criminal offence under California law, according to Perezhilton.com.
The partyboy presenter was reportedly released on $250 bail on Sunday (26Oct08).
A spokesperson for MTV reportedly said of the incident: "Oh that’s so funny, I haven’t seen it. That’s so him, he’s such a bad boy." If convicted of public intoxication, McMullen could face probation, a fine, and up to six months in jail.
The presenter is no stranger to trouble on his travels - earlier this year (08) he was robbed of his passport at a beach party in Rio de Janeiro.

Rapper T.I. has lent his support to an anti-gun documentary which sees him visiting a New York hospital to talk to victims of violence.
The hip-hop star, who was arrested on multiple weapon possession charges last year (07), attended the first screening of the short film, titled Walking With Guns, in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday (26Oct08) night.
And T.I. - real name Clifford Harris Jr. - took the opportunity to explain his own brush with the law and revealed the devastating effect of the 2006 shooting of his close friend, Philant Johnson.
He told the audience, "Hindsight is always 20, 20. I think where I went wrong was, I saw all of the crimes being committed over the summer. All of the guys from New Orleans were coming through the city and having their way with certain people. In addition to that, I had the experience of (Philant Johnson) dying in 2006, and no arrests were made until four months ago. No rapper has ever gotten killed and the crime has been solved. I can’t excuse my actions. All I can do is try to explain them." The Whatever You Like hitmaker is facing a one-year prison sentence and 1,000 hours of community service after pleading guilty to illegal possession of three machine guns and two silencers following his 2007 arrest.

Auditions for the lead roles in a new stage version of hit musical DREAMGIRLS have been put on hold out of respect for the film’s star JENNIFER HUDSON, after her mother, brother and nephew were murdered.
Open castings to the show’s stars were scheduled to begin on 1 November (08), but theatre bosses have postponed them until 22 November.
Producer John Breglio, who is overseeing the new Dreamgirls U.S. national stage tour, says the project is too closely linked to Hudson - who won an Oscar for her portrayal of ousted girlgroup star Effie White - for the auditions to go ahead.
He says, "Our prayers and thoughts are with Ms. Hudson and her family at this tragic time. Due to this horrific tragedy, we feel this is not the time for a talent search for a role that is so closely connected with Ms. Hudson." Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were shot dead at their Chicago, Illinois home on Friday (24Oct08).
The postponement of the Dreamgirls auditions comes just a day after the singer/actress reportedly identified the body of her missing seven year old nephew, Julian King, who was found dead in the back of a car on Monday (27Oct08).
William Balfour, who was once married to the child’s mother, Julia Hudson, is being questioned by police over the killings.

Rap superstar 50 CENT will serve as executive producer on a documentary chronicling the life of the late JAM MASTER JAY.
The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, has been recruited by filmmaker and the Run DMC star’s cousin, Stephon ‘Phonz’ Watford to oversee Two Turntables and a Microphone.
He tells MTV.com, "Phonz was working on that project for five years. He came to me, and I shot my (interview) portion that’s on the documentary. We met in Atlanta (Georgia) the first time and ended up shooting in Amsterdam (Holland)." And 50 is excited to be involved in such an iconic and "intense" project, adding, "He was somebody who impacted my career - you can say in the biggest way. ‘Cause in my career, I was just in the infant stages, developing my song structure around Jay. The first time I was in the studio, (it was) with intentions of recording songs for an album with Jam Master Jay. He taught me how to count bars. I could rap already. I knew what I wanted to say, but he was showing me how I had to get it out around the right time. (He would say) ‘That sounds crazy, you have to say it earlier in this verse’." But the rapper has his own theories about the murder of Jay, who was gunned down in his Queens, New York studio in 2002 by an unknown assailant.
50 says, "It’s not a random act of violence. People just don’t walk in your studio, shoot and kill you with several other people around, and no one knows anything. I believe the documentary sheds light on it - a little bit. It creates a clearer picture of what actually happened at that point. People just heard, ‘Jam Master Jay got shot.’ They don’t understand the circumstances. (The film) creates some clarity."
