REEVES TELLS COURT: ‘I DIDN’T RUN DOWN PHOTOGRAPHER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

Actor KEANU REEVES appeared in court in California on Tuesday (28Oct08) to deny hitting a paparazzo with his car during a chase in March 2007.
Reeves is being sued by photographer Alison Silva, who claims the star rolled his Porsche so it prodded him as he tried to escape being snapped.
Silva alleges he was left with debilitating injuries to his wrist, which has affected his ability to work. He is seeking compensation to cover medical costs and damages.
But Reeves, 44, told the court he didn’t hit Silva, insisting the snapper stumbled as he backed away from the car.
When Silva’s lawyer asked him how he tried to avoid hitting Silva, and encourage him to move, Reeves replied, "He was in front of a starting car. It’s common sense to me." The actor then explained how, after the accident, he went back into the house he had been visiting, asked the hosts to call 911 and then returned to the scene to offer Silva some water, which he refused.
He also claimed he heard Silva tell a man who asked him what had happened, "I am a paparazzo. He is a movie star. It was an accident." The case continues.

BIEL FEELS OLD AND CREAKY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

Movie beauty JESSICA BIEL is already suffering the adverse effects of the ageing process, at the age of 26.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre star is a fitness fanatic, but she fears she will have to slow down her exercise regime because she’s waking up each morning stiff and in pain.
She tells Britain’s Marie Claire magazine, "I feel my knees changing - like, why do I have this pain when I’m running on the treadmill? What’s going on with my lower back when I wake up in the morning? I just feel changes.
"And I’m definitely fearful in a very vain manner about my body aging. I think it’s freaky weird to look at a picture of your grandmother when she was a young woman and look at her now." But Biel, who is dating Justin Timberlake, has no intention of undergoing surgery to preserve her looks.
She adds, "I am really afraid of blades on my face. Freaks me out beyond belief. I would way rather have wrinkles than have some slice-up going on."

HOUGH TOLD TO COVER UP HEALTH SCARE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

Country singer JULIANNE HOUGH went public about her health battle against the wishes of her management team, who urged her to cover the crisis up.
The starlet - a dance pro on reality show Dancing with the Stars - was forced to pull out of the contest for a week after she was hospitalised with a reported stomach ache.
Hough, 20, revealed on Monday (27Oct08) that she will undergo surgery this week to remove her appendix after she suffered a ruptured cyst on her ovary, caused by a condition called endometriosis.
She admits her representatives were concerned about her telling all about the health scare - but she was determined to be open and set a good example to female fans who could find themselves in the same situation.
She writes on her website, "Last week my management and the other people around me were trying to think of something else I could say that was wrong with me, but I was like, don’t worry.
"I want to be a good role model. I want to be honest. Maybe some girl out there won’t wait too long like I did." Hough, who will have the appendix removed through her belly button so she won’t be left with a scar, adds her plans to become a mother one day drove her decision to take swift action.
She continues, "I’m just glad I’m taking care of it now because I want to have babies some day." Hough plans to return to Dancing with the Stars and hopes to take partner Cody Linley to this season’s final.

BJORK WANTS ICELAND TO GO GREEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

Icelandic pop star BJORK has a plan to rescue her country’s ailing economy, and has urged the government to favour local eco-friendly businesses over polluting foreign corporations.
The nation has been hit hard by the global economic downturn, and its most famous ‘daughter’ wants authorities to use the financial slump as an opportunity to clean up the environment.
She is particularly angry about plans to build two huge aluminium smelters in Iceland, insisting authorities should be promoting greener fuel sources.
Bjork writes in a newspaper article, "A lot of Icelanders are against the building of these smelters. They would rather continue to develop smaller companies that they own themselves and keep the money they earn.
"Usually I don’t notice politics. I live happily in the land of music-making.
But I got caught up in it because politicians seem bent on ruining Iceland’s natural environment.
"The smelters would need energy from a handful of new geothermal power plants and the building of dams that would damage pristine wilderness, hot springs and lava fields.
"To take this much energy from geothermal fields is not sustainable. We are facing a disaster from betting everything on finance. If we build two more aluminium smelters, Iceland would become the biggest aluminium smelter in the world… It would leave little room for anything else. If the price of aluminium falls - as it is doing - it would be catastrophic.
"Iceland can be more self-sufficient and more creative - and still have an approach that is more 21st than 19th century. It can build fewer, smaller and greener dams.
"Let’s use this economic crisis to become totally sustainable. Teach the world all we know about geothermal power plants. Support the Icelandic seed companies. Support the grass roots.
"It may take longer to build and deliver profits but it is solid, stable and something that will stand independently of the rollercoaster rides of Wall Street and volatile aluminium prices. And it will help Iceland to remain what it is best at: being a gorgeous, untouched force of nature."

PROJECT RUNWAY BOSSES FILE COUNTER-SUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

HEIDI KLUM’s U.S. reality programme PROJECT RUNWAY is in further turmoil after producers filed a counter-suit against bosses at the show’s former TV network.
Executives at NBC station Bravo won a court-ordered injunction, blocking the show’s $150 million (£95.5million) sale to Lifetime network last summer (08).
The series’ producers at Weinstein Company reportedly filed suit on Friday (24Oct08), claiming the channel diminished the show’s value.
New court documents accuse Bravo executives of "running a small number of ads, creating mundane and unappealing ads, providing little information for the press about the season premiere, and revealing spoilers about future episodes." Producers also claim when network executives "began to suspect that the show might move to a rival network, it created ‘copycat shows’ based on the Runway format".
Bravo announced a new series - tentatively titled Fashion House - on Monday (27Oct08).
A court date for Bravo’s suit has been scheduled next month (Nov08).

TRUMP’S PLANS FOR SCOTTISH GOLF-COURSE GET BOOST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Real-estate tycoon DONALD TRUMP’s plan to build the "world’s greatest golf course" in Scotland has been boosted the farmer who initially refused to sell his land to the American mogul.
Trump is awaiting a decision from Scottish officials to grant him permission to build the $2 billion (£1.3 billion) golf resort in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Michael Forbes, a farmer and fisherman in the area, insisted he would "never sell" the 23 acres of land he owns, which stands in the way of the project which includes two luxury golf-courses, a five-star hotel and 1,450 homes.
But despite being hailed as a local hero for rejecting Trump’s offer to pay $550,000 (£355,918) in addition to an annual salary of $80,000 (£51,770) for an unspecified job, the 55-year-old is certain the plans will be approved by the Scottish government.
Forbes tells British newspaper The Press and Journal: "There is far too much money involved now for it not to happen. All the politicians want it, so (it) is going to be built." An official decision by government officials is not expected until the end of the year (08).
