KNOWLES: ‘I AM A NEW YORKER’
Southern belle BEYONCE KNOWLES considers New York her adopted hometown because she feels so at home in the multicultural Big Apple.
The Texan R&B singer, who married Brooklyn-born rapper Jay-Z in April (08), admits she was put off by the stereotype of unfriendly city-dwellers when she first came to Manhattan.
But Knowles insists she’s become a native through the years.
She says, "I am (a New Yorker) now. When I first came here, people weren’t friendly and I didn’t know where to go.
"Now I love it. I enjoy access to foods I never had before, like Cuban or Indian. I love how multicultural it is; you walk down the street and see so many different races. It’s (diversity) normal here and abnormal to be closed-minded. That’s beautiful."
