GUY RITCHIE was all smiles in London on Thursday (23Oct08) night as he made his first public outing since news of his divorce from MADONNA was confirmed last week (ends17Oct08).
The director stepped out with pals Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law after a day of shooting in the British capital on their new movie Sherlock Holmes.
And Ritchie appeared to be enjoying his newfound freedom as they attended a private viewing of an exhibition by artist Sam Taylor-Wood at the White Cube Gallery.
And the stars weren’t the only celebrities at the event - actors Daniel Craig, Hugh Grant and Benicio del Toro were also in attendance.

Hollywood actress ANGELINA JOLIE has vowed never to contemplate suicide again because she has finally found happiness in her life.
The star had a tattoo of a window inked onto her lower back to symbolise her new outlook after battling drug addiction and depression.
But Jolie had the window covered over in 2004 after finding peace with herself and vowing never to look back.
She tells the New York Daily News, "I used to think I was unstable, because I had this thirst for something.
"I could never figure out what it was. I couldn’t sleep at night, and I always wanted to be somewhere else, and I have a window tattooed, this little box, and it’s because wherever I was, I wanted to be somewhere else. And I always saw myself - wherever I was in life - staring out the window.
"I knew little about the world, and I was completely self-absorbed. It was only when I came out of my shell and started taking care of others that I found the real Angelina." But Jolie admits she still sometimes feels lost.
She adds, "Sure, I am still restless, but do you know that my kids are the same way? We were in France these last few months and after a while they started asking when we could get back on a plane."

SKARD SOUL rocker JEREMY SISK has been shot dead in Texas after protecting his younger brother from burglars.
The guitarist, 37, was found dead on Tuesday (22Oct08) after two men stormed his brother’s apartment.
Sisk’s aunt Kim Parker tells Blabbermouth, "He was trying to defend his brother, and he got shot. As much as I’d like to kill them myself, I’d rather police lock them up and they live very long lives in bars (sic)." His brother Chris adds, "Jeremy took on one of the guys and was pounding him.
The guy realised he was losing the fight, pulled a gun and shot my brother."

British rockers BLOC PARTY have played their most surreal gig to date - beside the runway at a German airport.
The band performed in the dining lounge at the Tempelhof International Airport on Thursday (23Oct08) night.
And bassist Gordon Moakes admits it was a strange experience.
He says, "It was quite exciting when we first walked in and saw the runway right next to us… But the building… reeks of old Germany." The show is likely to be the last ever gig at the airport - it is due for closure next week (30Oct08) and will be replaced by the new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport.

Rap superstar JAY-Z will play another free concert to rally support for U.S.
presidential candidate BARACK OBAMA in the run up to the election.
The Big Pimpin’ star has already backed Obama’s White House campaign by playing a free gig in Detroit, Michigan earlier this month (Oct08). A second date, scheduled for 5 October in Miami, Florida, had to be scrapped after the rapper suffered a throat illness.
But he is to give the Democrat’s ticket one last push with a show in Cleveland next Wednesday (29Oct08).
The event will be hosted by basketball star LeBron James.

Former THE SMITHS guitarist JOHNNY MARR will begin his tenure as a British university lecturer next month (Nov08).
The rocker, who was appointed to the position last year (07), will return to Salford University’s Maxwell Hall - one of the final venues The Smiths played in 1986 - to give his first masterclass on 4 November (08).
The lecture, which will be open to both students and the general public, will be titled Always On The Outside: Mavericks, Innovators and Building Your Own Ark.

Country star CARRIE UNDERWOOD has laughed off reports of a feud with JESSICA SIMPSON, insisting she has nothing against the singer/actress for dating her ex TONY ROMO.
The two stars were alleged to have fallen out after Underwood insinuated she was still in touch with American footballer Romo, two years after their split (06).
In a recent interview with Allure magazine, Underwood insisted Romo was equally keen to keep in contact, adding: "The phone will ring and it’ll be him, and I’ll maybe not answer." Simpson, who has been dating Romo since late last year (07), subsequently hit back at Underwood’s comments, claiming her boyfriend has never called his ex.
But Underwood is shrugging off reports the two are embroiled in a war of words.
She says, "I met her once and she seemed really nice so I don’t have a feud with anybody."

His portrayal of President James Marshall in Air Force One has beaten out Morgan Freeman in Moviefone.com’s quirky pre-U.S
. presidential election poll.
Ford’s Marshall landed 24 per cent of more than 1.1 million votes
. Freeman’s portrayal of President Tom Beck in 1988’s Deep Impact came in second with 16 per cent.

VANESSA WILLIAMS has come out in defence of LINDSAY LOHAN following reports her recent stint on UGLY BETTY was marred by infighting and diva antics.
Lohan’s role on the show was cut down from six episodes to four, leading to speculation that her onset behaviour was to blame.
But Williams, a regular star in the hit series, insists that stories about Lohan being difficult to work with are simply not true.
She says, "That’s what the press does, that’s what gossip’s about, and media is about.
"I had a few scenes with Lindsay. She was a hard worker, she showed up on time and in the scenes I had with her, she was completely prepared. In terms of me working with Lindsay, she was professional, she knew her lines and she was great with me."

British pop star LILY ALLEN was convinced superproducer MARK RONSON was gay when they first met.
The Smile hitmaker collaborated with the Grammy winner on her debut album All right, Still.
And, recalling their first meeting, the singer admits she was surprised to find out that Ronson had a girlfriend - because she thought he was homosexual.

STAR WARS actor IAN McDIARMID suffered a suspected heart attack while on stage in London’s West End - but insisted on finishing his opening night debut.
McDiarmid suffered from dizzy spells during his performance in Luigi Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author on Wednesday night (22Oct08).
But the star - who played Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars franchise continued until the play’s final curtain call before being taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for the play at the Gielgud Theatre says, “I think he had dizzy spells or something. He did the curtain call and he felt not quite there.
“The doctor saw him and said, ‘Why don’t you rest for a few days?’ There was a very rigorous technical rehearsal period up to that point. The show had been in Chichester (before it transferred to London) and everything.” McDiarmid is expected to continue in Six Characters in Search of an Author until the run ends on 2 November (08).

U.S. TV presenter STAR JONES has filed a lawsuit against the condo board of her New York apartment - insisting her home has become uninhabitable.
The former The View talk show host, 46, has filed papers at Manhattan Supreme Court claiming that recurring leaks and mould have forced her out of the property, and is demanding $700,000 (£432,000) in costs and damages.
Jones insists she had to pay for other accommodation because she has been unable to stay in the apartment since March 2006.
The suit also accuses the Louisiana condo board of knowing about water problems in the building since 2004, but failing to rectify the situation, according to the New York Post.
The papers state: "As a result of said damage and environmental condition, it is unhealthy and dangerous to reside in such premises. As such, I have obtained comparable living arrangements at the costs of $17,861 a month."

Former RED DWARF star DANNY JOHN-JULES has been found guilty of attacking two refuse collectors.
The British actor was arrested in February (08) on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm following the incident outside his London home.
John-Jules is said to have accosted the men wearing only a bathrobe and slippers, after they failed to empty his trash bin. He then lashed out at the pair, punching and kicking them.
Magistrates at a London court found the 47-year-old guilty at a hearing on Thursday (23Oct08). But they ruled there was no evidence to support claims he had wielded a knife during the attack.
John-Jules is due to be sentenced next month (Nov08).

LATEST: U.S. TV host JAY LENO has sent his condolences to the family of DENNIS RICCA, who committed suicide after he was named in a lawsuit alongside the star.
Ricca, a parking garage executive, shot himself in the head days after the estate of an heir to the famous U.S. department store Macy’s filed legal papers against him and Leno.
John Strauss’ estate was suing the pair after two of Strauss’ vintage cars were allegedly unlawfully sold at an auction in 2005.
According to a lawsuit filed by the estate last week (14Oct08) at New York’s Supreme Court, Leno - host of America’s The Tonight Show - purchased one of the cars at the auction.
Ricca was said to have purchased the second car and "knowingly participated in certain unlawful purported auctions and sales".
On hearing of Ricca’s apparent suicide, Leno tells the New York Post, "I’m saddened to hear of such a terrible tragedy - (I offer) my deep condolences to his family."

Hollywood veteran KIRK DOUGLAS has been honoured for his humanitarian work at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
The actor was told he had "saved many lives" by pal Steven Spielberg at the Shoah Foundation’s Ambassadors for Humanity on Thursday (23Oct08).
Douglas and his wife have funded the construction of 400 playgrounds in LA’s schools.
Spielberg said: "Kirk Douglas, in a way, has saved many lives - not just through his art, but through his humanitarian contributions to the planet.
"We’re here to show how closely attuned Kirk Douglas is as a representative of our work and our vision at the Shoah Foundation." The tribute is the second in a month for Douglas - the acting legend and his wife, Anne, have also been honoured for their charity efforts by The Good News Foundation, with officials awarding the couple the Good News Makers of the Year accolade.

Hollywood veteran AL PACINO is calling for moviemakers to slash working hours for actors.
The Oscar winner - who collected the Marcus Aurelius Lifetime Achievement Award at the third annual Rome Film Festival on Wednesday (22Oct08) - believes actors work too hard when they are on filmsets, and the gruelling schedules can often affect their performance.
