WINFREY BRUSHES OFF AMBASSADOR REPORTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

Talk show queen OPRAH WINFREY has denied reports she has been courted by U.S.
presidential candidate BARACK OBAMA to become the country’s U.K. ambassador if he is elected into office next month (Nov08).
Winfrey made her endorsement of the Democrat last December (07) - the first time she has ever publicly backed a presidential candidate.
And according to Britain’s The Times newspaper, Winfrey’s name rests among the top contenders for the post in an Obama administration - marking the first time a TV personality would be appointed to the position.
Former U.K. ambassador to the U.S. Peter Jay tells the publication: "You need someone who is close enough to the president to interpret events and get a message back to Washington. It would send a clear message about the new administration." But a spokeswoman for Winfrey’s Harpo Studios says: "Oprah hasn’t been approached."

JAGGER’S EX EVICTED FROM NEW YORK APARTMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

SIR MICK JAGGER’s ex-wife BIANCA has been evicted from her New York apartment after court officials ruled she could not list the pad as her "primary residence" while living in the city on a tourist visa.
The state Court of Appeals upheld a ruling on former model/actress Bianca Jagger’s eviction from her $4,600 (£2,944) a-month Park Avenue apartment on Thursday (23Oct08).
Nicaraguan-born Jagger - who also has a home in London - is in New York on a B2 visa, requiring a "principal, actual dwelling place" outside the United States.
Court officials state: "Under the Rent Stabilization Code, a landlord may recover possession of a rent stabilised apartment from a tenant whose lease has expired if the apartment is not occupied by the tenant… as his or her primary residence." But Jagger insists she’s only being evicted because she sued her landlord after complaining of water leaks and mould.
She reportedly continued to pay her rent into an escrow account despite deeming the apartment unlivable during the three years prior to her eviction.
A judge will decide whether she or landlord Katz Park Avenue is entitled to the money.
Jagger tells the New York Post: "I was a good tenant. I was paying my rent.
What I expected in return was a habitable apartment, not one that would endanger my health.
"What people need to think about when they look at my case is, ‘Are tenants being protected by the law, or are landlords allowed to use the courts to get rid of tenants who have reasons to be concerned?’"

CRAWFORD AMUSED BY ONLINE GOSSIPS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

GOSSIP GIRL star CHACE CRAWFORD has laughed off the "comical" reports written about him by bloggers - insisting everything he’s read about himself on the internet has been fabricated.
The actor has become a fixture among gossip websites since rising to fame on the hit U.S. show about a group of spoiled teens.
And he’s baffled by the extent to which some bloggers will go to just to feature him on their sites.
He says, "It’s ironic that on the show we’re stalked by a blogger, and now we’re the subject of that in real life. I don’t read the blogs… The bloggers fabricate everything, and it gets picked up by the whole gossip world. It’s just one of those things you can’t get sucked into.
"If I’m standing next to a dog, they’ll say we’re dating. Or next to my sister - I got that as well. I let it roll off my back. There’s a lot of speculation with no reality to it, complete fabrications about my private life.
My close friends and my family - they obviously know what the reality of my private life is. It’s just comical."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

Rocker JOHN MELLENCAMP is joining the U.S. presidential debate - by recording a radio ad in his native Indiana, urging the public to vote for Democrat BARACK OBAMA.

And Mellencamp wants to help.
In a radio commercial now airing, Mellencamp criticises current president George W. Bush’s two terms in office - and insists electing McCain won’t bring about change.
He says, "I’ve seen a lot of small towns, and now I’m seeing small towns across America dying. I’m proud to support Barack Obama, because whether you live in a small town or a big city, it’s time for a change." Earlier this year (08), Mellencamp clashed with McCain after the Arizona senator used his music during campaign rallies without his permission.
