Hip-hop veteran TOO SHORT has formed a new group with local artists from his native Oakland, California.
The rapper has recruited Silk E, Martin Luther and Elijah Baker - formerly of Tony! Toni! Tone! - to form Town Bizness.
But the funk/rock inspired first single Red Bull & Vodka, is far from the gritty street rhymes many Too Short fans are used to.
He says, "The group is a combination of artists, musicians, writers and producers united under the love of making good music." The band’s currently untitled album will be released on Too Short’s imprint, Up All Night Records, reports AllHipHop.com.

R&B star CIARA is inspired to succeed by America’s basketball stars.
The 23-year-old feels motivated after watching sports games and ploughs the extra energy into her music career.
She tells Men’s Health magazine, "I take my motivation from athletes basketball players in particular.
"I love LeBron James because he’s my age and full of ambition and drive. I love Michael Jordan… there was so much pressure, but he pulled through every time. That energy motivates me.

Australian singer/songwriter GABRIELLA CILMI has hit back at rumours she was intoxicated at the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) awards blaming her incoherent acceptance speeches on jetlag.
The newcomer swept the board at the Aussie awards ceremony on Sunday (19Oct08) - scooping six gongs after less than a year in the spotlight.
Cilmi took to the stage to accept each award, including Best Female Artist and Breakthrough Artist, and appeared drunk as she slurred her words and rambled incoherently.
Worried fans bombarded Internet forums with their concerns, fearing the 17-year-old star, who has often been compared with troubled singer Amy Winehouse, had been drinking.
But Cilmi is adamant she didn’t touch alcohol at the event, blaming her inarticulate speeches and baffling post-event press interviews on tiredness from long-haul flights.
The London-based says, "I was actually jetlagged, I wasn’t tipsy… I kept on winning, it was really weird, I didn’t expect it, so I didn’t know what to say."

Rockers KILL HANNAH had a lucky escape from their tour bus after the vehicle caught fire while the band was asleep.
The group, from Chicago, Illinois, was travelling through the Swiss Alps on Tuesday (21Oct08) when the incident occurred.
They were en route from Italy to France, where they are due to play a gig in Paris on Wednesday night (22Oct08).
The bandmembers were evacuated from the bus and no one was injured, although they lost all their possessions in the blaze.
A spokesperson from Kill Hannah’s management team told Kerrang.com on Tuesday: "They were sleeping and (the) bus filled with smoke and they realised it was on fire… something from the engine must’ve started it… the bunks are all pretty much melted… but everyone is out alive and uninjured, which is the important thing. Apparently the bunk section is particularly bad, some of the bunks collapsed onto each other and melted…." As WENN went to press, it was unknown whether the band’s upcoming tour dates, including a string of gigs in the U.K., would be affected by the incident.

Veteran crooner NEIL DIAMOND will be named MusiCares Person of the Year at the organisation’s 2009 ceremony.
The Sweet Caroline singer is to be lauded for his industry achievements and philanthropy work at a gala dinner and concert held in his honour on 6 February (09).
Diamond recently donated all profits from tour merchandise sold throughout October (08) to help those left devastated by the effects of Hurricane Ike, which hit parts of the U.S. last month (Sep08).

LATEST: Rockers FALL OUT BOY have postponed the release of their new album to stop it clashing with the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.
The band recently announced they were considering changing the date that Folie a Deux is due to hit record stores, fearing that the original scheduling of 4 November (08) would be too much of a "gimmick".
And now the Dance, Dance hitmakers have confirmed that the album has been delayed until 15 December (08).

JAMES BOND star DANIEL CRAIG fears the current international economic crisis could affect the production of the next 007 movie.
The British actor stars in new Bond film Quantum of Solace, his second outing as the superspy.
But Craig - who has signed a four picture deal with 007 chiefs - is concerned that his third Bond movie may fall victim to the worsening financial climate, with plans for the movie being halted or cancelled until the international markets stabilise.
He says, "As far as the next film’s concerned, there is nothing scheduled.
"Economically the world is in quite a lot of trouble so who knows if we can afford to do another Bond movie anytime soon? "I’m quite superstitious and I don’t take anything for granted. I’d love to do another one, though. Love to."

Hollywood star NAOMI WATTS is set to play Nobel Prize winner and controversial peace campaigner JODY WILLIAMS in a new biopic.
The actress is in talks with Universal studio bosses to take on the role of outspoken Williams, a teacher who became known for her work on the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, for which she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.
Williams has continued to campaign for peace and equality, and in 2006 teamed up with five other Nobel honorees to form The Nobel Women’s Initiative, to fight for women’s rights across the globe.
The movie, titled My Name Is Jody Williams, will be directed by Audrey Wells.

GEORGE CLOONEY and BRAD PITT’s crime comedy BURN AFTER READING has raced to the top of the U.K. box office chart in its opening weekend.
The movie, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, sizzles in pole position with takings of $3.53 million (£2.04 million), leaving Shia LaBeouf’s Eagle Eye in second place with $1.9 million (£1.1 million).

Marvel president KEVIN FEIGE wants to bring comic book superhero DOCTOR STRANGE to the big screen.
The studio boss has hinted that a movie adaptation of the Sorcerer Supreme could be in the works as soon as 2012.
He tells MTV, "I’d say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr.

Reality TV star KIM KARDASHIAN spent her 28th birthday in hospital - visiting her injured boyfriend REGGIE BUSH.
The socialite’s American football star lover was recovering from surgery on his knee at an Alabama medical centre after he was injured during the New Orleans Saints’ game on Sunday (19Oct08) against the North Carolina Panthers.
The couple had been due to take a romantic trip to London to celebrate Kardashian’s birthday on 21 October (08). However, the pair was forced to cancel the holiday and spend the day at the medical facility instead - but Kardashian got in to the spirit of the event by donning a hospital gown.

British comedian RUSSELL BRAND received a death threat after ridiculing U.S.
president GEORGE W. BUSH at last month’s (Sep08) MTV Video Music Awards.
The comic came under fire from angry TV viewers after branding the president a "retard" during the Hollywood ceremony.
He tells Britain’s Radio 1, "(Hosting the awards) was a lot of fun, especially the death threat.
"If you are going to kill someone, don’t give them advance notice, that gives you a chance to prepare.
"How can you, while watching the telly, think ‘Oh, I don’t enjoy this. No, I’m not enjoying this at all. Right, I’m going to kill him’. That’s a huge jump."

Former GUNS N’ ROSES star DUFF McKAGAN is a massive fan of British pop band GIRLS ALOUD - and has offered to support the group on an upcoming tour.

Music mogul SIMON COWELL has had his security on British reality TV show THE X FACTOR stepped up after the programme came under fire from Islamist extremists.
The talent contest was recently rapped by outspoken Islamist preacher Omar Bakri Muhammad, currently in Lebanon, who posted a rant on a Muslim website after the show’s finalists recorded a charity single to raise money for injured British troops.
X Factor producers have reportedly been in talks with U.K. police to boost security at Fountain Studios in Wembley, North London, where the programme is filmed.
Security checks at the venue are said to have been increased with plans for X-ray scans and a police presence on 25 October (08), when finalists will perform the charity single.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "We called in officers from Scotland Yard because of genuine safety fears. We are in the process of discussing extra security measures for Saturday night’s live show."

Hip-hop mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS wants to reinvent his newly purchased Enyce clothing brand to provide quality garments at a cheaper price.
The rap entrepreneur and his business partner Ron Burkle bought the designer street wear company for $20 million (£11.7 million) - just a fraction of the $114 million (£65.9 million) the Liz Claiborne corporation paid for it in 2003.
And Combs - who also has his own fashion company Sean John - plans to "remix" Enyce’s marketing approach to appeal to a whole new generation of consumers.
He tells AllHipHop.com, "We’re going to retool and make it completely different from our Sean John line, which is still the mothership brand. But with respect to the economic conditions many face, this offers us the opportunity to supply a quality fashion brand at a lower price point.
"When it comes to diversifying our business portfolio, this acquisition is a perfect fit. Compare it to music where they call me the King of the Remix, we’re going to apply that same approach to the band: ‘remixing’ the sales approach, the brand marketing, and how the product is distributed globally and domestically."

Finnish band HANOI ROCKS have split following a career spanning nearly 20 years.
The band - formed in 1979 - have announced that the end of their career will be marked by a greatest hits CD, set for release in November (08) and a farewell tour of Japan in spring 2009.
The group will also play several concerts in their native Finland in March (09) to officially end their time together.
A statement from the band reads, "Hanoi Rocks have decided to break up by the end of the year 2008. Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy feel that they’ve taken the band as far as it can go and now wish to go their separate ways.
"All commitments until the end of the year, including the UK tour starting in London on Halloween, will naturally be honoured.
"The band wishes to thank all their fans, co-workers and business partners for their continued love and support throughout the years.” Hanoi Rocks first split in 1985 but was revived by Monroe and McCoy in 2002.
