SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS took on the role of conductor as a Texan orchestra performed music written by the star.
The actor wrote a number of classical works for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and conducted one piece at a concert at the weekend (18Oct08).
Hopkins says, "It was an absolute thrill to not only hear my work performed by such an incredible orchestra, but to actually lead them in a performance, a performance that included music that up until that point I had only heard in my imagination… what a rush!"

JAMES BOND star DANIEL CRAIG has turned down the chance to portray Marvel superhero THOR on the big screen.
The actor was one of the movie producers’ favourites to play the blond-haired, hammer-wielding Norse warrior, in director Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of the comic.
But Craig snubbed the offer, claiming it would be "too much of a power-trip" to play both 007 and Thor.
Thor is due for release in 2010.

Actor MARK WAHLBERG has banned his kids from watching his films - insisting he particularly doesn’t want them to see BOOGIE NIGHTS.
The former rapper plays a porn star in the 1997 movie and he is hoping his three children with partner Rhea Durham - Ella Rae, five, Michael, two, and newborn Brendan Joseph - never see the picture because of its explicit content.
He says, "It’s on their banned list. Frankly I don’t want my kids to see anything I’ve done."

Hip-hop legend LL COOL J refuses to let his sex symbol status inflate his ego, insisting keeping in shape is just his way of life.
The Phenomenon rapper, real name James Todd Smith, is proud of his muscly physique, but admits he works hard to keep trim.
He tells People magazine, "It (being labelled a sex symbol) may be slightly flattering, but it’s not like I get up every morning and turn around to look in the mirror and say, ‘Look at Cool J’. That’s just not me." And the star credits his personal trainer with helping him achieve his fitness peak.
He adds, "I have a great trainer. I try to make sure that I put a lot of energy into working out. It’s definitely a lifestyle. I work out three to four times a week minimum and I really focus."

Socialite PARIS HILTON loves life in London so much she is considering a permanent move to the British capital.
The hotel heiress is currently in the U.K. filming her new reality show Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend and has been renting a house in London’s fashionable Hampstead area.
And now Hilton has admitted that she is keen to move to the city full-time.
She tells British newspaper The London Paper, "I love it here, I am going to move here permanently. I have already been here for one month and am much, much happier here."

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is planning to reunite with KYLIE MINOGUE for a track on his new album.
The pair caused a sensation with their steamy performance together at London’s Brit Awards in 2003.
And now Timberlake has admitted he is determined to "pick up where we left off" with the Australian singer, this time recording a duet.

MADONNA announced her new movie FILTH AND WISDOM was based on failed love at its premiere in New York - just two days before she confirmed her split from husband GUY RITCHIE.
The singer attended the official screening of her directorial debut alone and told reporters on the red carpet the film focused on a woman desperate for happiness.
She said: "It’s a fictional story about a girl who lives in New York and is obsessed with this love story. She thinks if she had that, she would be happy.
Then, of course, she goes on this journey and finds out in fact it wasn’t what was portrayed to be, and that that kind of love doesn’t really exist." She added, "I don’t want a sad ending. I don’t mind a sad journey as long as there is a happy ending. In many respects it is an insight into my philosophical point of view that out of darkness comes light." JESSICA SIMPSON took inspiration for her new perfume advertisement from style icon BRIGITTE BARDOT because she wanted to emulate her "classic beauty".
The singer is launching her latest fragrance, Fancy, and insisted on keeping herself covered up for the promotional campaign so the focus remains on the new scent.
She tells Entertainment Tonight, "I never wanted it to be too risque or anything like that.
"I keep myself covered up for the most part because honestly it is about fragrance - that’s what I want people to see when they see the ad. I wanted to go for a Brigitte Bardot type of look and she is one of my favourite all time classic beauties." But Simpson has laughed off any talk of launching a ‘his and hers’ range with her American footballer boyfriend Tony Romo - although she admits she likes to get his opinion when she’s making her perfumes.
She says, "That’s so not Tony. He’s a football player. It’s about showering, getting out of the locker room and coming home. But I do have him smell certain things and thankfully he always thinks I smell good. I hope!"

DANCING WITH THE STARS contestant BROOKE BURKE has returned to the show after injuring her foot.
The model was performing the jitterbug with partner Derek Hough on Sunday afternoon (19Oct08) when she fell during a high-energy routine.
Burke was taken to Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where medics confirmed she hadn’t suffered a serious injury, but her foot was badly bruised.
A spokesman for the show says, "She’s a little sore, but she rehearsed today and she feels ready to dance tonight." Burke is not the first contestant to sustain an injury on the show; Olympic volleyball star Misty May-Treanor ruptured her Achilles tendon and was forced to withdraw from the competition, and comedian Jeffrey Ross suffered a corneal abrasion when his partner Edyta Sliwinska’s hand grazed his eye.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star ASHLEY TISDALE once worked scraping gum from a shop floor because her parents wanted to teach her to be responsible.
The actress claims her parents encouraged her to work in a store to help her learn the value of money.
She says, "Retail is horrible. I worked at four different stores. My parents wanted me to learn the value of a dollar, even though I’ve been in showbusiness since I was three. I chose the stores I liked to shop at so I could get the staff discounts.
"One of my managers hated me and would make me do the lamest jobs such as pick gum off the floor that had been there for five years. There’d be no way I could get it up. It taught me a lot of life lessons. I was shy and it taught me how to sell."

SETH ROGEN will turn down the offer to star in GHOSTBUSTERS 3 if he is not impressed by the script.
The actor loved the original movies starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, and has been linked to a role in the new sequel alongside Steve Carell and Paul Rudd.
But Rogen says he will only star in the picture if it is well written.
Rogen tells Collider.com, "It’s hard to imagine that would be good, isn’t it? "I mean just as a movie fan I am the first guy to be skeptical of that. It sounds like a terrible idea when you first hear it. At first hearing it sounds like the worst idea ever. I mean, that would have to be one motherf**king good script." He adds, "There is a point where it’s so bad it’s really easy to say no." Earlier this month (Oct08), Murray said he was keen to reprise his role in a third movie - if the script is funny enough.

GUY RITCHIE is "a fantastic father" and determined to retain access to his children with wife MADONNA, according to reports.
The couple announced last week (15Oct08) that they are to divorce following seven years of marriage, and speculation has been rife in the press and on the Internet about the financial and custodial settlement between the pair.
According to reports earlier this week (20Oct08) Madonna is seeking primary custody of her 12-year-old daughter Lourdes by ex-partner trainer Carlos Leon, her eight-year-old son by Ritchie, Rocco, and the couple’s adopted tot, David Banda, three.
Relations between Ritchie and stepdaughter Lourdes are said to be strained following an argument earlier this year (Aug08), not helped by the youngster becoming increasingly close to her biological father.
But friends of Ritchie have stood up for his parenting skills, branding him "a fantastic father".
One pal tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "It is beyond vile to fault his skills as a parent. Guy dotes on all his children." Ritchie is said to be "hopeful" that Madonna will not block access to her daughter, and the source adds: "All three children are terribly close to Guy and he wants to see as much as possible of them all."

Actress MARY-KATE OLSEN was involved in a minor car accident on Monday (20Oct08) while out shopping with a female friend in Los Angeles.
The former child star was leaving the Open Door furniture store when her unnamed pal accidentally reversed her Toyota Prius car into the back of another vehicle.
The woman exchanged details with the other driver, an employee of the nearby El Pollo Loco store, while Olsen waited in the front passenger seat.
No one was hurt in the incident.

LATEST: DAVID DUCHOVNY is suing a British newspaper over allegations he had an affair with a Hungarian tennis coach.
Edit Pakay, 28, has been linked with the X-Files star, following the announcement of his split from wife Tea Leoni.
She told the Mail on Sunday, "I don’t want to say anything that might hurt David. I am not going to deny it. I don’t know what our relationship means to him." But Duchovny’s attorney Larry Stein says the actor will launch legal action over the article because Pakay "never had a romantic or sexual relationship (with him)".
Stein tells People.com, "Ms. Pakay denied the rumours to me in person last Friday, saying they are just friends, and in addition, said in writing that such stories are lies and deceit." Prior to his split with Leoni earlier this month (Oct08), 48-year-old Duchovny was treated for sex addiction at an Arizona rehab clinic.

Irish pop band BOYZONE have apologised to bosses at MTV for causing trouble at a past awards ceremony - insisting they will be better behaved at this year’s (08) European Music Awards (EMAs).
The band fear they have been blacklisted by officials at the channel after the 2000 EMAs event in Dublin, which saw bandmember Shane Lynch swearing on stage and picking a drunken fight with rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
The singers have now issued an apology ahead of the forthcoming EMAs ceremony in Liverpool, England next month (Nov08) and hope they will be invited back.
They tell British newspaper the Daily Star, "We’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to the channel. As a band we are really keen to bury the hatchet. Back in those days, Shane thought if we went prepared we wouldn’t win anything.
"He’d had more than a few pints to calm his nerves. Because he was drunk he ended up effing and blinding on stage and later had a fight with P Diddy and proper slapped him on the head. That wasn’t very representative of the band. He didn’t show any respect and is very sorry."

EMINEM feels like "a spoilt rapper" after handing production duties of his latest LP RELAPSE over to DR. DRE.
The Stan hitmaker is set to release his first album since his greatest hits compilation in 2005 - which many feared was an end to his career.
The 35-year-old took a break from music to concentrate on producing - but is now set to release Relapse by the end of the year (08).
Eminem admits he is excited about his new record, insisting he can’t wait to "get back out there".
He tells the BBC, "For the last five months I’ve been working pretty much straight with Dre. There’s going to be a lot of material, more so than I’ve had on an album with him producing before." And he has handed the technical responsibility of producing his new album to Dre, so he doesn’t have to worry about it.
He adds, "Obviously his beats are insane but aside from that I can rap, I can write and not worry about what the beat has to sound like and how loud a snare drum is.
"All those things are taken care of for me. I feel like a spoilt rapper. I get to pick and choose everything."

Music mogul SIMON COWELL has denied he plans to quit showbusiness next year (09) when he reaches the age of 50.
The American Idol judge previously stated that he plans to step out of the spotlight after he reaches the milestone birthday in October 2009.
But now, the star has backtracked - insisting he is to carry on with his reality show projects.
Cowell’s spokesman Max Clifford says, "Simon’s not going anywhere. He’s told me he’ll go on and on. And so he should."

STEVIE WONDER has paid tribute to late FOUR TOPS legend LEVI STUBBS at a concert in Australia.
The Superstition hitmaker performed a version of the Motown band’s hit I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) in honour of Stubbs, who died on Friday (17Oct08) aged 72.
Wonder also used the opportunity to take a swipe at next month’s (Nov08) U.S.
presidential election, branding the race for the White House between Barack Obama and John McCain "bulls**t" - after dedicating his song Master Blaster to Democrat Obama.
Wonder told the audience in Melbourne, "This U.S. election is based on colour and gender and it is bulls**t."
