The heavyweight director piled on the pounds while making new movie Zack and Miri Make a Porno - and realised he had to stop eating and start exercising after he recently broke a pal’s toilet.
So he plans to disappear from the limelight and embark on a fierce fitness regime.
The Clerks director writes on his MySpace page, "I’ve porked the f**k out, man. I’m really, really fat right now. Fattest I’ve ever been.
"As soon as this flick’s out, I’m taking my life back . . . gonna drop out of sight and drop a bunch of pounds. It’s the deal I’ve made with myself."

British model-turned-reality TV star JORDAN has hit back at reports she is to split from her pop star husband PETER ANDRE.
The Aussie singer and the busty British model’s three-year marriage was reportedly close to collapse, according to media reports in England earlier this month (Oct08), which also alleged she had walked out on him after a heated argument.
But the star, real name Katie Price, insists the allegations are false.
She says, "We are not breaking up. We’re in love, for God’s sake. It’s never got that bad. We have big fights but I’ve never thought it’s over and neither has Pete.
"There’s nothing that would make us break up - unless one of us was unfaithful."

ANNA FRIEL won’t be heading down the aisle with boyfriend DAVID THEWLIS anytime soon - the HARRY POTTER actor thinks staying unwed is more romantic.

But Pushing Daisies star Friel warns fans to ignore wedding rumours in the tabloid press.
She tells Page Six magazine, "He (Thewlis) thinks it’s something really romantic, us never having gotten married. It doesn’t mean we’re not committed, but we don’t need to change anything because things are quite good. Plus we have a child, which is the most bonded thing you can have, anyway."

OUTKAST star ANDRE 3000 wishes he could revisit his past - because he regrets getting so many tattoos during his youth.
The rapper/actor admits he would have thought otherwise about getting so many designs inked onto his skin if he had known how much he would hate them when he grew older.
But Andre 3000, real name Andre Benjamin, has chosen to leave them as they are for now - because current removal methods would leave him with new scars.
He says, "I regret my tattoos. I had six silly tattoos done when I was young and I bitterly regret them. I’ve thought about laser surgery, but that leaves a scar, so I’m just leaving them."

Comedienne SARAH SILVERMAN’s first ever U.K. gig failed to impress British comedy fans - she was booed after cutting her much-hyped set in half.
The U.S. funnywoman’s sarcastic style was expected to win over the British audience at her London stand-up debut at the weekend (18/19Oct08).
But her set soon turned sour, after the warm-up act cancelled its slot and Silverman rushed through a short 40 minute performance.
She was booed and heckled for leaving revellers - who had paid $100 (£59) for tickets - unsatisfied.
Some taunted her with chants of, "I’ve seen longer clips on YouTube!" and "Sarah - you’re overrated!".

Celebrity tattoo artist KAT VON D has credited rocker boyfriend NIKKI SIXX for helping her kick her alcoholism.
The L.A. Ink reality TV star began drinking heavily after her divorce from first husband Oliver Peck and it wasn’t until she found love with Motley Crue wildman and recovering addict Sixx she started cleaning up her life.
She tells Latina magazine, "For a long time I felt like there’s no God, there’s no karma. Meeting Nikki was an eye-opener. He helped restore my faith in general. I’ve taken an oath to be honest and open with my life.
"(Before that) I found myself drinking in the daytime, and that’s when I realised that it was for function versus fun. I was gaining weight. I was hung over all the time. I couldn’t remember anything… One day I woke up and said, ‘I don’t wanna drink anymore’."

PEACHES GELDOF doubts her shock marriage to MAX DRUMMEY will endure - and admits she got wed despite knowing the relationship could fail.
The daughter of rock legend Bob Geldof stunned family and friends after walking down the aisle with Drummey in Las Vegas in August (08), despite only dating for one month.
But the star insists she was ready to commit to Drummey, because his intelligence made her fall "under his spell".
She tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "I’m never swayed by looks. You’ve seen the people I’ve dated. I’m not the type to chase after a Brad Pitt lookalike. I like intelligence.
"Max graduated from Harvard with honours in social anthropology, he’s played music since he was three and can play 12 instruments. He’s amazing. I fell under his spell." And despite insisting she loves Drummey, Geldof admits their marriage may not last.
She adds, "You can’t ignore divorce rates. Every friend of mine has parents who are now divorced. I didn’t go into it with Max thinking, ‘This is going to last forever’.
"We were just travelling across America. He said to me, ‘’I don’t want you to go back to London. Why don’t we just take a trip to Vegas and do something like get married?’ I was like, ‘Hell yeah! I’m 19, this is amazing and nuts, but I’ve fallen in love with him’."

SCISSOR SISTERS have parted ways with their drummer after seven years together.
Paddy Boom - real name Patrick Seacor - agreed to leave the band on Thursday (16Oct08).
A statement on the band’s official website reads, "We would like our fans and friends to know that we have amicably parted ways with the original Scissor drummer Paddy Boom.
"He will no longer be on stage with us but he will always be our sister." Randy ‘Real’ Schrager will be his temporary replacement.

Pop punk PINK was once targeted by a female kidnapper - who wanted to lock the star up in her aunt’s house.
The Trouble hitmaker, real name Alecia Moore, refuses to hire a security team to accompany her everywhere she goes - and she was left to fight off a potential abductor on her own while out in New York.
But Pink has laughed off the threat of danger, joking that she would have let the woman kidnap her if she promised to feed her some good home cooking.
She says, "I never use bodyguards and a woman tried to kidnap me in Times Square.
"It was actually very funny. I was just walking around, doing my thing, and this woman came up to me and said, ‘Hey, you’re Pink.’ I just nodded and smiled and then she grabbed me by the arm and said, ‘I’m taking you to my aunt’s house.’ "A lot of people have problems with public confrontations, but it doesn’t worry me at all. OUTKAST star ANDRE 3000 is convinced PRINCE CHARLES would approve of his new clothing line Benjamin Bixby, because he can see the British royal wearing the range himself.
The hip-hop star, real name Andre Benjamin, recently launched the upmarket fashion range and admits he took his inspiration from English formal wear.
He says, "England taught America to dress. You guys showed us how to dress smartly and then we made it cool. We made it less formal, though men know how to wear a suit in London." And he reveals plans to get members of the British royal family to don his wares.
He adds, "I could see Prince Charles in one of my shirts - top dollar. Wills and Harry also rock. The princes are doing a great job with their looks. Maybe I can get them into some Benjamin Bixby and they’ll be even cooler. Winston Churchill was one cool dude, too. He always looked dapper."

Singer KATIE MELUA dreamed of becoming a politician as a child - but gave up on the idea when she realised it would probably be "the worst job in the world." The Closest Thing To Crazy hitmaker spent a lot of her childhood in her native country of Georgia and in Northern Ireland, and she admits that the regions’ troubled histories inspired her to take up a career in politics.
But the star soon dropped the idea when she gained a deeper understanding of what the job would entail.
She says, "When I was a child I wanted to be a politician. But then I got some sense and realised it was probably the worst job in the world.
"I grew up in a place where politics really affected our everyday lives, even as kids - Georgia and then Belfast. I remember thinking that if women were in power, none of this (world problems) would be happening. And then you grow up and realise it’s not that simple."

Actress LINDSAY LOHAN’s temper was tested after her girlfriend DJ SAMANTHA RONSON reportedly ignored her during a heated lover’s quarrel.
The pair refused to speak to one another en route to Washington on Thursday (16Oct08) after Lohan spent the train ride complaining of her staff, according to the New York Post.
A source tells the newspaper Lohan shouted at Ronson: "I do what’s good for you, not what’s best for both of us." Lohan later continued the tongue-lashing, reportedly yelling at Ronson: "Don’t f***ing lie to me!" to the dismay of nearby passengers.
Sources add Lohan was "whining incessantly and Samantha was trying to deflect it"

Actress GINA GERSHON and singer BELINDA CARLISLE have opened up about their ghostly experiences for a new TV show.
Gershon claims she was haunted by a heavyset, bald ghost in his underwear while she was a college student in New York.
And the star insists that the experience left her unable to sleep.
She tells the Biography Channel’s Celebrity Ghost Stories special, "I kept having violent nightmares. I would wake up with scratches and bruises." And singer Carlisle has also admitted to seeing an apparition, insisting she was left terrified after the haunting experience in the middle of the night.
She adds, "I woke up all of a sudden to this thing. It wouldn’t let me breathe; it just kept choking me. I thought I was going to die."

Actress EVA GREEN has laughed off rumours she once turned down a date with French president NICOLAS SARKOZY, insisting she’s never met the politician.
The Casino Royale beauty, a French native, was alleged to have been propositioned by Sarkozy before he wed model/singer/actress Carla Bruni earlier this year (08).
But Green has dismissed the claims, admitting she admires Bruni - although she’s not a fan of her new mature wardrobe.

A signed picture of legendary U.S. funnywoman LUCILLE BALL has fetched more than $6,500 (£3,800) at an auction of BOB HOPE memorabilia.
More than 680 items went under the hammer over the weekend (18/19Oct08) at the Julien’s Auctions event in Los Angeles.
Items included furniture, photographs and paintings from the home that Hope shared with his wife Dolores, as well as the late actor/comedian’s collection of hats, suits, sporting memorabilia and movie items.
One of the sale’s biggest earners was an autographed photo of Ball, in which she is dressed as a toothless gypsy. The picture is signed by Ball to "Rapid Robert" - Hope’s nickname - and contains the message: "Because he loves beauty.
XX Lucy." Comic George Lopez was one of the celebrity attendees who successfully bid for Hope’s golfing gear.
The auction raised more than $600,000 (£352,000) for the Bob and Dolores Hope Foundation.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL director KENNY ORTEGA wants to bring ZAC EFRON back to the franchise for a one-off Christmas special.
The actor, 20, is reportedly set to study at the University of Southern California early next year (09) after wrapping up promotional duties for the third and final movie in the series.
But filmmaker Ortega admits he has a few more ideas for the hugely popular teen movie franchise, and hopes to bring the show’s main cast - including Efron’s girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale - back together one last time before they bow out for good.
He tells British radio station Heart FM, "We’ve been talking about it. Steve Vincent, who is Head of Music for ABC and The Disney Channel in the States, came to me earlier this year and came with a load of ideas also including a Christmas album.
"We’ve also talked about doing a 3D concert movie experience with the cast.
"I’ve also been talking about the idea of taking High School Musical and transferring the setting to another country… go outside of the US… maybe to the UK. I like that idea. I think it would be a fun experience."

Comedian CHEVY CHASE wasn’t laughing at U.S. vice presidential candidate SARAH PALIN’s guest appearance on sketch show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE this weekend (18/19Oct08), insisting TV bosses made a "big mistake" inviting her on.
The National Lampoon’s Vacation star, a former SNL alum, was not impressed by Palin’s lack of improvisation skills on Saturday’s (18Oct08) programme, which was hosted by W star Josh Brolin and featured Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin.
Palin appeared in an opening skit with staunch Democrat Baldwin, and again in the Weekend Update segment, when she nodded along to a rap song by SNL’s Amy Poehler.
But the Alaska Governor’s performance failed to crack a smile from Chase.
He tells Access Hollywood, "Quite frankly, it’s a big mistake to let her go on. What was brilliant about (SNL producer) Lorne (Michaels) was that he had nothing written for Sarah and that apparently she cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag! "On Weekend Update, that was her big chance. Nothing." And Chase has no doubt that Palin’s performance has had a negative effect on the campaign of her running mate, White House hopeful John McCain.
He adds, "The management behind McCain’s campaign has been dumb. This has only helped accentuate the problem of his judgement in choosing, in such a cynical way, a candidate like Sarah Palin for vice president. I think the last thing that they would want right about now is to have the rest of America knowing all that… to have her be seen on SNL, certainly never there… If anything, you just want her to be seen just from a distance."

Supermodel GISELE BUNDCHEN has sparked rumours she is set to marry American football star TOM BRADY after reportedly planning a wedding reception at a New York restaurant.
The Brazilian beauty began dating the New England Patriots star shortly after her highly-publicised 2005 break-up from Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
The pairing followed Brady’s own split from pregnant actress Bridget Moynahan, with whom he shares a one-year-old child.
According to the New York Post, Bundchen is in talks with party planners at the legendary Tavern on the Green in Central Park to plan the celebration following their union.
A source tells the newspaper, "They were recently there, and Brady had a long chat with (American football star) Joe Namath." Spokespersons for Bundchen and Tavern on the Green have declined to comment on the reports.
