BRAD PITT is set to star in a new adaptation of Greek poet HOMER’s famous masterpiece THE ODYSSEY - set in outer space.
Four years after Pitt’s big screen portrayal of Homer’s Troy scored huge box office takings, the star is reteaming with Warner Bros. studios and returning to ancient Greece.
The Odyssey follows the story of Odysseus and his return to Ithaca following the end of the Trojan War - which is thought to have taken place around the 11th and 12th centuries B.C.
According to Daily Variety, studio bosses want to give the story a more modern theme - by setting it in space.
Although he is not yet signed to the project, Warner Bros’ chiefs want Pitt to star in and produce the movie with his company Plan B.

COLIN FARRELL stripped naked and danced for Hollywood beauty SALMA HAYEK on the set of their movie ASK THE DUST - so she wouldn’t be nervous about posing nude on screen.
Hayek had to peel off for scenes in the 2006 movie, in which they played lovers.
Gossips claimed the pair was romantically linked at the time, adding that Farrell had performed a naked ballet dance for the sexy star.
And the Irish actor admits the rumours are almost all true.
He says, "The naked part is true, but it wasn’t ballet; it was a different dance.
"And I wasn’t dating her - we were working together. We were doing a scene where she had to be naked, so I thought, ‘I want to be naked.’"

Reformed thug MARK WAHLBERG has threatened to ‘crack’ comedian ANDY SAMBERG’s nose after the funnyman poked fun at him in a skit on American comedy show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
The Happening actor, a one-time juvenile delinquent, admits he was far from impressed with Samberg’s comedy in a farmyard segment, where he pretended to be hard-man Wahlberg.
And he made his feelings known on late-night chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (16Oct08) when he was reminded of the clip.
Wahlberg said, "When I see that kid, I’m gonna crack that big f**king nose of his." But the actor made sure Kimmel knew he was partly joking when he used Samberg’s Wahlberg catchphrase, adding, "And then I’m gonna tell him, ‘Say hi to your mother for me.’" But Samberg still needs to be worried; Wahlberg said, "I think I’m gonna get on a plane tomorrow, I’m gonna go to New York… wherever the f**k they shoot that show. He probably doesn’t have a dressing room so I have to find him in the cafeteria, and I’m gonna slap him in the big nose.
"Tune in, I guaran-f**king-tee you… And then instead of me forgiving him, I’ll ask him to forgive me. Right?"

Actress LINDSAY LOHAN has hit out at the press for pursuing her even when she’s out clubbing - because it makes her feel like a caged animal.
The Mean Girls star headed out to a Washington, D.C. club on Thursday (16Oct08) night to support her girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson, who was playing a set at the venue.
But Lohan was unable to fully enjoy herself because of all the unwanted attention from photographers and excited clubgoers clamouring to get a picture of the star.
She writes on her blog, "Washington, D.C.-you’re in a club, you are here for support for someone that you care for very much, VERY MUCH.. But, you’re here just to chill and support, not to be seen and heard… Not to be on display in the dj booth…or to feel as if you are in a cage at the Bronx Zoo… Do you see what I am getting at??? "All right, so I am literally sitting in the dj booth at a club in Washington, D.C. where Samantha is djing and they have a computer at the back of the booth, which I am on right now. Aside from the fact that she is an amazing dj and I am having a nice time, the glass mirror placed to my left to hide me from photos (literally) is making it all a bit uncomfortable!!!"

A man claiming to be the lovechild of MARILYN MONROE and former U.S. president JOHN F. KENNEDY has launched a court battle for a share of his ‘father’s’ estate.
New Yorker John R. Burton - who has changed his name to John Fitzerald Kennedy - has come forward 45 years after Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.
The 53-year-old has filed papers at Manhattan federal court insisting he deserves a fair share of Kennedy’s fortune.
He also calls for DNA testing to prove he is the late president’s eldest son.
The lawsuit reads, "In his will, each child of President Kennedy was to receive a certain amount of money each year pursuant to the terms in said will." Susan Frunzi, representing the Kennedy estate, tells the New York Post, "I assume it’s a frivolous lawsuit, and it wouldn’t be the first time that people have filed frivolous lawsuits against this family." John F. Kennedy had two children with his wife Jackie Kennedy; Caroline and John Jr., who died in a plane crash in 1999.
Although he was rumoured to have had an affair with Monroe before his death in 1963, there’s no evidence to suggest she bore his child.

Funnyman WILL FERRELL is to tread the boards on Broadway - he’ll make his New York stage debut impersonating the U.S. President in comedy YOU’RE WELCOME AMERICA - A FINAL NIGHT WITH GEORGE W. BUSH.
The star will team up with producer Adam McKay, his Anchorman and Step Brothers collaborator, for the solo show. The comedy duo, who founded website FunnyOrDie.com, is also expected to pen the script.
Ferrell’s various impersonations of Bush have been big hits on the internet, garnering more than 5.5 million hits on video sharing website YouTube.com.

Reggae star ZIGGY MARLEY is marking his 40th birthday on Friday (17Oct08) by giving a fan the chance to join him in the recording studio.
The lucky winner of a charity auction will be able to watch Marley - the son of late music legend Bob Marley - lay down tracks for his new album.
The four-time Grammy winner promises the prize day will take place in Los Angeles later this year (08). The LP is due for release next spring (09).

LATEST: GERARD DEPARDIEU’s son GUILLAUME was laid to rest in Paris, France on Friday (17Oct08) in a ceremony that attracted some of the country’s biggest stars.
The 37-year-old actor passed away on Monday (13Oct08) at the Garches hospital after suffering from a bout of pneumonia.
His family was joined by mourners including directors Luc Besson, Claude Berri, actors Nathalie Baye and Laura Smet, and France’s First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy as they paid tribute to the star during a ceremony in the Paris suburb of Bougival.
Guillaume’s own music was played during the memorial service; the songs were recorded shortly before his death in preparation for the release of his debut LP.
His mother Elisabeth described him as "a child and then a man about whom you always wondered would he come home at night", while his movie star father Gerard read a passage from Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s children’s story Le Petit Prince as the black coffin, drapped with pink roses, was lowered into the ground.
He read: "Do you see? It’s too far. I can’t take this body with me. It’s too heavy." Guillaume Depardieu is survived by his six-year-old daughter Louise with his ex-wife Elise Ventre, whom he divorced in 2006.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN used his latest fundraising bash for Democrat BARACK OBAMA to poke fun at one of the presidential candidate’s Republican rivals, SARAH PALIN.
Springsteen dueted with fellow rocker Billy Joel for the first time ever at the bash, at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday (16Oct08).
And the Born to Run hitmaker jokingly compared the pair’s inexperience to criticism of Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Palin.

Legendary tenor PLACIDO DOMINGO will be making a shock appearance in TV drama LAW & ORDER after winning an auction for a one-off part.
The Spanish singer won a fierce bidding war at a live auction, held at the Princess Grace Awards in New York City on Wednesday (15Oct08).
The 67-year-old handed over $16,000 (£8,640) - after Law & Order producer Dick Wolf interrupted the auction to change the prize from a cameo to a speaking part, reports the New York Post.
The annual awards recognise emerging talent in theater, dance, and film. The prizes take the form of scholarships and fellowships.

BRITNEY SPEARS has reignited a friendship with her ex-husband JASON ALEXANDER the man she married and ditched after a controversial Las Vegas ceremony.
The pair tied the knot in a Sin City chapel on 3 January 2004 - a union that was annulled just 55 hours later.
The brief marriage appeared to have ended Spears and Alexander’s romance and longterm friendship, but the 27-year-old clothing entrepreneur’s manager Susan Ferris insists they are pals again, four years on from the headline-grabbing wedding.
Ferris tells Us Weekly, "They are friends again and have been for six or eight months."

Pop star NELLY FURTADO has confessed she’s a married woman - the singer secretly wed fiance DEMACIO ‘DEMO’ CASTELLON over the summer (08).
The Maneater hitmaker, 29, made the revelation during an interview on Entertainment Tonight Canada, which is due to air in the country on Friday (17Oct08) night.
And Furtado admits she is enjoying every minute of being Mrs Castellon.
She says, "We got married July 19th. I love it. It’s a nice phase of my life.
"I just feel kind of free and relaxed and more in tune with trying not to be so stressed out. (I’m) trying to enjoy things a little more. I’m happy …I’m excited about the future." The news comes just days after Furtado was spotted out in Miami, Florida, wearing a large sparkler on her ring finger.
The star, who has a five year old daughter, Nevis, from a previous relationship, got engaged to sound engineer Castellon last year (07) after working together on her hit album Loose.

Country star JOHN RICH has been accused of assaulting rocker JERRY MONTANO in a bust-up in a Hollywood hotel on Friday (17Oct08) morning.
According to TMZ.com, the Big & Rich singer allegedly hit the former Danzig bassist with a beer bottle after a heated argument in the lobby of the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood got out of hand.
Police were called to the scene at 4.20am local time, with paramedics arriving minutes later at 4.28am when they reportedly treated Montano for a broken and bloodied nose.
A source tells the website Montano was heard repeatedly mumbling, "The little guy hit me," as blood flowed "all over the place".
A police investigation has been launched into the incident, but as yet, no arrests have been made.
Requests for comment had not been returned from either stars’ representatives as WENN went to press.

Legendary FOUR TOPS singer LEVI STUBBS has died after a long illness, aged 72.
Stubbs, a cousin of R&B legend Jackie Wilson, died on Friday (17Oct08) at his home in Detroit, Michigan. The exact cause of death had not been released as WENN went to press.
The star sang lead on some of the vocal group’s most memorable hits, including Reach Out I’ll Be There, I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch), Baby I Need Your Loving, and Standing in the Shadows of Love.
Born Levi Stubbles in Detroit in 1936, the singer formed a doo-wop quartet with his friends Abdul ‘Duke’ Fakir, Renaldo ‘Obie’ Benson and Lawrence Payton in 1954.
Initially going under the moniker Four Aims, the band changed its name to Four Tops in 1956 and gained a following as a club act. After signing to Motown Records in 1963, the group notched up a string of hits which have endured as classics for more than 40 years.
The group continued to tour, but Stubbs stepped down from his role in 2000 after he was diagnosed with cancer. He later suffered a stroke, and had been in poor health ever since.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Clineice, and their five children.

BOND star DANIEL CRAIG wants the superspy to quit smoking for the sake of his health - but is happy for 007 to carry on drinking.
Craig caused a sensation in his first Bond movie Casino Royale when he showed off his toned body as he emerged from the sea.
And he insists the cigarette-puffing hero created by author Ian Fleming is unrealistic - because tobacco would hamper the action hero’s fitness.
He says, "I don’t wish for him (Bond) to smoke. Fleming wrote a Bond that smoked 60 cigarettes a day. I can’t do that and then run two-and-a-half miles down a road, it just doesn’t tie in." But Craig is still willing for 007 to sip his famous cocktails - adding: "But the drinking’s there, the Dutch courage. In one of the books, Moonraker, Bond is about to play cards at a club with the bad guy, and he orders Benzedrine from M16, which is speed, which he mixes in with the Dom Perignon, and that’s how he starts the evening…"

KATIE HOLMES’ Broadway debut has left New York’s tough theatre press battling over whether it loves her or hates her.
Arthur Miller’s All My Sons - starring Holmes, John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson - opened at the Big Apple’s Schoenfeld Theater on Thursday (16Oct08) night.
While anti-Scientology protesters targeted followers Holmes and her husband Cruise outside, the actress’ performance left some critics wowed and others unimpressed.
The New York Daily News’ Joe Dziemianowicz was won over by the actress’ first stint on stage, writing, "Holmes, a TV and film vet, makes a fine Broadway debut. Her rather grand speech pattern takes getting used to, but she seems comfortable and adds a fitting glint of glamour." But other critics disagreed. The New York Times’ Ben Brantley claimed "the neophyte Ms. Holmes" is a "sad casualty" of director Simon McBurney’s "high concept approach" to the play.
He adds that "Ms. Holmes delivers most of her lines with meaningful asperity, italicising every word".
And the New York Post’s Clive Barnes was similarly unimpressed by the Batman Begins star - and had few compliments for her co-stars.
He writes, "Lithgow starts in a sunny, benign fashion, but eventually finds himself screeching alongside Holmes, looking tough under a glossy wig."

Actress NICOLE KIDMAN is determined to shield her daughter SUNDAY ROSE from the public gaze - describing herself as a "lioness" protecting her cubs.
Kidman, wife of country singer Keith Urban, gave birth to the tot in July (08) - and admits it is tough being a parent in her 40s.
She is also the mother of adopted children, Bella, 15, and Connor, 13, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
And the Moulin Rouge! star is adamant she will protect her children from outsiders.
She says, "At 41, it’s a more painful love. It’s almost like my heart is stretching - I’m feeling like all these muscles stretch with emotion. It’s a beautiful love but there’s a lot of fear and pain for her life - and for Bella’s and Connor’s life.
