RONSON AND WINEHOUSE TO CHANNEL GORE FOR JONES TRIBUTE ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

Celebrity DJ/producer MARK RONSON has confirmed he and AMY WINEHOUSE are to record a new version of LESLEY GORE’s YOU DON’T OWN ME for a new QUINCY JONES tribute album.
The new collaboration will be the first thing the pair has worked on together since they attempted to create the perfect Bond theme for the new 007 movie Quantum of Solace this summer (08) - Jack White and Alicia Keys eventually landed the song.
After the recording fell through, Winehouse reportedly fell out with the producer, but Ronson insists that’s not the case - and he’s planning to return to the studio with his muse.
He says, "I haven’t seen her in a while, but we’ll get in the studio and we’ll do the song (You Don’t Own Me), and hopefully we’ll do a good job."

SPEARS BACK ON TOP AFTER RECORD-BREAKING SALES WEEK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

BRITNEY SPEARS’ pop comeback is complete - she’s back on top of the U.S. charts thanks to a record-breaking sales week.
The singer’s Womanizer tune has scored the biggest chart jump to number one in Billboard Hot 100 history after rocketing up 95 spots from last week’s 96 to get there.
It’s the first time Spears has been on top since her debut single …Baby One More Time hit number one at the beginning of 1999.
The feat marks the third time in the past two months that the record for the biggest jump to number one has been shattered - rapper T.I. soared 70 spots with his Whatever You Like at the beginning of September (08), and he toppled himself last week (ends10Oct08) when he took his Rihanna duet Live Your Life from 80 to one.
Womanizer tops the new chart thanks to download sales of 286,000 - the biggest opening-week tally by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital downloads in 2003.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

MARK WAHLBERG is still rattled by a 2004 fan-charging incident during a guest appearance on MTV’s TRL - because the crazed girl who rushed at him wasn’t very Christian.
The actor was promoting a movie on the show when a screaming fan ran towards Wahlberg and had to be pulled off him by security guards - and the star fears her intentions might not have been altogether good.
He explains, "The only thing that was a bit disturbing was she had a pin (badge) on that said ‘God is not real’ and that was upsetting to me. But I still pray for her to this day. Hopefully she’s changed her mind." The deeply religious star, a Catholic, has a small chapel in his Hollywood mansion.

STARR ADDRESSES AUTOGRAPH BAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

LATEST: RINGO STARR is backtracking after upsetting fans with an online rant about the amount of items he’s asked to autograph.
The former Beatle threatened to throw away requests he gets for his signature after 20 October (08) in a recent video message, claiming he hasn’t got time to deal with the piles of letters he receives.
In a 40-second video posted on his website, Starr said, "I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fanmail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it’s gonna be tossed." But, after upsetting fans, Starr has chosen to back down.
In a new statement, the rocker insists the ‘ban’ on fanmail was “in direct response to an inordinate amount of items which have recently appeared for sale on (memorabilia auction website) eBay, and to those that repeatedly send cards and items to be signed.” He adds, “(It’s) a waste of paper and we all should be mindful of our carbon footprint.” Starr insists the video message wasn’t aimed at his “real fans” who have acknowledged that he “has always signed items and is in fact the only Beatle to have been doing so.” The drummer admits he was "amazed" by the public and media reaction to his video message, and urges fans to "read this in a mellow way."

BON JOVI UPSET THEIR SONG HAS BECOME A REPUBLICAN ANTHEM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

Rockers BON JOVI have become the latest music act to take aim at the America’s Republican party campaign marketing men over the improper use of their music.
Frontman Jon Bon Jovi has issued a statement distancing himself from wannabe Vice-President Sarah Palin after learning the Alaska Governor used his hit Who Says You Can’t Go Home as an anthem at recent campaign rallies.
The singer, a fervent supporter of Palin and running mate John McCain’s Democrat opponents, rages, "We are surprised to hear that our song was used by the McCain/Palin campaign at rallies. We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past twenty-five years. The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the defacto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities.
"We do not approve of their use of Home." The Foo Fighters, Heart and Jackson Browne have also recently complained about the use of their songs at McCain/Palin rallies.
In August (08) Browne sued McCain’s Republican Party for using his Running On Empty hit in a campaign ad for the Arizona Senator.

SPEARS’ LAWYER WILL APPEAL ANY LICENCE CONVICTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:48 pm

The lawyer representing BRITNEY SPEARS in her latest legal woe has vowed to appeal if the pop star is convicted for driving without a licence.
The Toxic hitmaker will face the charge when her trial gets underway on Wednesday (15Oct08) in a Van Nuys, California court.
The count relates to a 2007 incident when she was reportedly caught driving in the state without a valid California licence. At the time, she was allegedly only in possession of a licence from her native Louisiana.
Spears’ attorney Michael Flanagan has already twice turned down the prosecution team’s offer of a $150 (£81) fine and 12 months probation to make the legal spat go away - because, to get it, she would have to accept she’s guilty of a criminal offence.
And Flanagan is ready to fight the case all the way, if that’s what it takes to clear Spears’ name.
He tells People.com, "My client will never plead guilty to this charge, which should be reduced to an infraction. We’ll appeal any conviction." Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (15Oct08) and the trial is expected to last several days. Spears is not required to attend as it’s only a misdemeanour charge, but she faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 (£540) fine if convicted.
The singer has since obtained her California licence.

DE NIRO SIGNS TV DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

ROBERT DE NIRO has landed the chance to develop at least one new television series after signing on to make a string of shows with a U.S. network.

The first project will mark the TV-writing debut of Oscar-winner William Monahan - who scripted Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest film Body of Lies and his 2006 movie The Departed.
Rosenthal will not elaborate on the subject of the show, but tells Daily Variety of the deal: "It’s right in his wheelhouse, though, and set squarely in New York. Bob (De Niro) and I are huge fans of his movies and the characters he writes.
"We wanted to stretch into television, and I worked at CBS and have a long friendship with (CBS President) Les Moonves. It felt like home."

ELTON JOHN TO TOUR WITH JOEL IN 2009

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

Rock veteran SIR ELTON JOHN is planning to head out on tour with BILLY JOEL next year (09) in a new series of concerts.
The two legends have hit the road together on a number of occasions over the years in their Face to Face shows. During the gigs, the pair often team up for duets and play one another’s hits.
The pair last toured together in 2002, before John inked a deal for his residency at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace.
But the Rocket Man hitmaker is ready to hook up with Joel once again - as part of a whole host of concert dates - and has pinpointed 2009 for a new tour.
He tells GQ magazine, "I love going out and playing. I’ve never loved playing so much as I do now. I’m just going back to do some dates with my band, then I go off and do six dates completely on my own, and then I go back to Vegas to do a show which is completely different to anything we’ve done before, and then I’m going on the road again with Billy Joel again next year - so that’s the fourth different thing.
"And then I may go on the road with (English musician) Ray Cooper again - so that’s the fifth different thing - and then I’ve got an orchestral thing up my sleeve. So that’s six different kinds of shows I can do. And I just really, really, really enjoy it."
