LINDSAY LOHAN has been given the green light to record with MADONNA.
Lohan told journalists at an event on Monday (13Oct08) she has set her sights on recording a duet with the pop superstar - and the Material Girl is up for the idea.
Lohan said, "That would be incredible. That would be beyond…" U.S. news show Extra put the duet idea to Madonna herself, who responded "Yeah sure. Why not?"

BRITNEY SPEARS will tour with the promoters behind London’s state-of-the-art 02 venue.
The pop star has signed on as an AEG client for a planned world tour, which will start next spring (09).
The live entertainment company also represents Usher, Celine Dion and Prince’s touring interests.
Spears last toured in 2004.

Actress GWYNETH PALTROW has become the latest Hollywood star to publicly endorse BARACK OBAMA for U.S. President because she’s a big fan of his women’s rights issues.
The mother-of-two has revealed her choice for the office as the November (08) election heats up, adamant the Democratic candidate shares her passions.
Paltrow tells Glamour magazine, "It is crucial that we elect a president who will make women’s health a priority. For his entire career, Barack Obama has stood up for women in this way." And Paltrow is not a big fan of Obama’s opponent, Senator John McCain.
She adds, "McCain has voted against requiring insurance to cover birth control, and he’s opposed funding for education about emergency contraception (EC). McCain has voted against what is best for women’s health 125 times. This year I’ll be voting for a champion of women’s health care, and a champion for my daughter’s future."

British actress ANGELA LANSBURY is set to return to the New York stage in an upcoming Broadway revival of NOEL COWARD’s comedy play BLITHE SPIRIT.
Lansbury, 82, will star as eccentric psychic Madame Arcati opposite fellow British actor Rupert Everett in the show.
The Murder, She Wrote star took to the stage last year (07) in the New York production of Deuce, marking her return to Broadway after a near 25-year hiatus.
Blithe Spirit is scheduled to hit the stage in February (09).

Ballerina NADIA NERINA has died at her home on the French Riviera. She was 80.
The revered dancer was one of the leading ballet figures of the 1950s and 1960s, when she starred in a series of productions at London’s Sadler’s Wells theatre.
Her beauty and talents inspired choreographer Frederick Ashton to create La Fille Mal Gardee.
Nerina was born Nadine Judd in South Africa and took up ballet as a child to strengthen her feet. She initially danced under the name Nadine Moore.
She danced with the Kirov Ballet and Bolshoi Ballet before retiring to France with her banker husband in the late 1960s.

Classic beauty CAROL ALT agreed to pose nude for December’s (08) Playboy magazine to inspire middle aged women to eat healthy.
The 47-year-old brunette is a big fan of a raw foods lifestyle for women and she hopes her naked physique will inspire others to follow her lead.
But she admits she didn’t jump at the chance to pose for her first Playboy spread.
Alt says, "I’ve done a lot of soul-searching about this and have spoken extensively with Playboy about it. They have been amazing to work with and are embracing this message that I want to get across, which is eat healthy, look healthy and be healthy.
"It doesn’t matter what age you are. You can look sexy and feel great, and that doesn’t have to be a gift only for the young. It can be a gift for any age, even the old (whatever that is nowadays)." The former Sports Illustrated cover star’s Playboy spread will be her first ever nude pictorial.
She adds, "I’ve never been comfortable with my body. When I had to pose for Sports Illustrated in a bathing suit at the age of 20, it was some of the most difficult work I ever did.
"I was always a heavy kid; my sister is a plus-size model; and it’s not like I come from a long line of stick figures! I continuously battled with my weight! I always felt uncomfortable with my body, was very shy and really, rather conservative."

Actress BLAKE LIVELY has dashed home to Los Angeles from New York after her father was seriously injured in a car crash.
The Gossip Girl star’s actor dad, Ernie Lively, was rushed to hospital, where he is being treated for a broken back and arm, according to reports.
The accident took place on Monday (13Oct08).
A family source tells America’s Star magazine, "He’s lucky to be alive." The actress was on the first flight back to Los Angeles after hearing the news, according to the source: "They are as close as any father and daughter could be. She was beside herself when she got this horrible news."

THE HILLS star-turned-designer LAUREN CONRAD’s Los Angeles Fashion Week collection almost went up in smoke on Monday (13Oct08) when wildfires near her secret base forced staff to evacuate with clothing.
Conrad’s production offices were in the line of fire during one point on Monday - and her assistants had to flee for their lives.
Conrad explains, "The building where I have all of my production offices, there were fires all around it and my entire collection was there…They (staff) were evacuated, but luckily they had all the samples with them."

REBA McENTIRE, LYLE LOVETT and ALAN JACKSON were among the top honourees at the 2008 ASCAP Country Music Awards on Monday night (13Oct08) The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) bestowed its Silver Circle honour on McEntire and Lovett, while McEntire was also presented with the Golden Note Award for her "extraordinary career milestones".
Stars like Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes and Kelly Clarkson paid tribute to McEntire by performing a string of her hits at the Ryman Auditorium event in Nashville, Tennessee.

British girl band SUGABABES are planning to break up temporarily - so founding member Keisha Buchanan can go to university.
The trio’s debut single Overload shot into the U.K charts when the singer was aged 15 and the band has gone on to sell more than five million records there.
But now Keisha wants to carry out the studies she missed out on in her teens - and she has put the band on a hiatus.
Keisha says, "It’s my dream to study at university. I’ve been in Sugababes since I was 12, so I would love the opportunity." But she insists her education won’t be the end for the band: "We would do our individual projects and come back together stronger than before."

TRAVIS BARKER has dismissed statements made by his ex-wife SHANNA MOAKLER concerning his hospital treatment following his plane crash last month (Sep08), taking aim at her for staying away.
Moakler hinted that she and the drummer were reconciling after she dashed to be at his bedside following the crash in South Carolina - but Barker insists that’s not the case.
Blogging from his hospital room, the former Blink-182 star insists he hasn’t seen his ex in at least a week.
And he’s angry with comments she has been making to the press about his care.
He writes, "Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, I’ve been treated amazingly well, both here in L.A. and in Georgia.
"The hospitals I’ve been treated at are THE BEST."

Country star TIM McGRAW is upset by his record label bosses’ decision to release a new Greatest Hits album without his permission.
The singer has apologised to fans for Curb Records’ decision to release a third greatest hits package of his material.
In a statement McGraw revealed he’s "saddened and disappointed" by the album release on 7 October (08).
He says, "I’ve only had one studio album since my last hits package. It has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me. I had no involvement in the creation or presentation of this record.
"Sure I love the songs and I don’t want to take anything away from all the creative people who were a part of making those records. But the whole concept is an embarrassment to me as an artist.
"In the spirit of an election year, I would simply say to my fans ‘I’m Tim McGraw and I don’t approve their message’." According to Billboard.com, McGraw’s two prior hits packages have sold a collected eight million copies in the U.S. alone.

ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN is to bounce back from his September (08) plane crash by supporting rap heavyweight JAY-Z on his upcoming tour.
The Los Angeles DJ and entrepreneur is still recovering from the South Carolina tragedy, which left two fellow passengers dead and pal/bandmate Travis Barker in critical condition - but the show must go on.
Goldstein will be back onstage for Jay-Z’s concert at the Palladium Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday night (15Oct08).
The DJ insists he didn’t have to think too long about the opportunity of touring with the rap mogul: "He’s the greatest rapper in the world. This is the biggest thing that’s happened in my career."

SIR ELTON JOHN is penning a film musical for BEN STILLER - about a gay man with Aids.
The legendary singer wrote the score for the Broadway production of The Lion King, as well as the 2005 stage adaption of Billy Elliot.
And now the Rocket Man star, who has been with partner David Furnish for 15 years, is working on a controversial new film musical for actor/director Stiller.
He writes on the GQ style blog, "It’s about a guy on Broadway who is gay, has HIV and AIDS, and has to go back and face his wife and his kids that he left.
It’s very funny." And anticipating what critics might say about the musical, he adds, "No, it’s very funny. The premise doesn’t sound funny, but it is. All right?"
