Actor BILL MURRAY is keen to see a new generation of GHOSTBUSTERS pick up their proton packs - especially if they are female.
The funnyman starred in the 1984 hit movie and its 1989 sequel, and has been bombarded with requests to bring the four hapless ghoul fighters back to the big screen.
And Murray is reportedly interested in reprising his original role in a new film, branding a possible third installment "a great idea".
Speculation suggests studio bosses are working on a script to team original stars Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson with a new batch of Ghostbusters, to be played by Seth Rogen, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Chris Rock.
But the Scrooged actor would like to add a more feminine aspect to the spook catching squad.
He tells MTV.com, "I think it’d be funny to have a girl Ghostbuster. We don’t have a girl Ghostbuster. I mean, they say like, ‘What if you passed it to Chris Rock?’ And I go, ‘Well, I dunno. Is Chris Rock gonna save us?’ You know, I guess. He’s funny." He adds, "I just think there’s some funny girls I’d love to see be Ghostbusters."

South Korean model/actor KIM JI-WHO has been found dead in an apparent suicide - becoming the country’s fourth star to take his own life in just one month.
The 23-year-old’s body was discovered by police at his home in Jamsil, southern Seoul on Monday (06Oct08).
According to reports, Kim had become depressed after suffering a backlash when he recently ‘came out’ and admitted he was gay.
Many of his TV appearances were subsequently cancelled and he received a number of hate messages on his website.
Officers from the local Songpa Police Station found a note at the scene saying, "I’m lonely and in a difficult situation. Please cremate my body." A police statement reads: "Given the note and testimony from his family members, we believe he apparently committed suicide." Kim’s death comes just days after actress Choi Jin-Sil died in a suspected suicide. Her body was found last Thursday (02Oct08).
Fellow entertainers Jang Chae-won and Ahn Jae-hwan have also died in recent weeks.

OZZY OSBOURNE and his family are at the centre of a work and pay battle between a production company and the Writers Guild of America (WGA).
The WGA has warned its members to ignore any request for writers to work on a new TV project that would feature the famous rock family in a variety style format, as the show is produced by Fremantle Media - a company that the union claims underpays staff.
Fremantle is currently shopping for writing talent to work on The Osbournes: Live and Dangerous, but is struggling after WGA chiefs urged members not to work for the company.
In an open letter, the WGA writes, "Any members who perform writing services on that show do so at their own peril." WGA bosses claim they were in negotiations with Fremantle to sign a contract for their writers to work on the show, but allege the production company called off any further talks.
However, Fremantle suggest it was the WGA that decided to end negotiations.

LATEST: A sheet of handwritten lyrics by Belgian singer JACQUES BREL has sold for double its estimated value at a Paris, France auction.
The words for Amsterdam, one of Brel’s most popular songs, was bought by a mystery phone bidder, who paid $158,915 (108,750 Euros/£85,900) for the text when it went under the hammer on Wednesday (08Oct08).
Another set of lyrics for Mathilde also fetched more than expected, selling for $169,145 (72,550 Euros/£91,430).
A stack of other personal items, including records, notebooks, guitars, childhood photographs and his pilot’s licence, were also included in the sale.
The auction took place one day before the 30th anniversary of Brel’s death from lung cancer. It went ahead despite protests from his family, who offered to buy the entire collection for $256,942 (175,000 Euros/£138,888).
Most of the items are thought to have been recovered from a French home Brel shared with his mistress Silvie Riget.

Hip-hop mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has undergone surgery on his shoulder after an old injury started to cause him pain.
The rapper stepped out to watch Madonna in concert in New York on Tuesday (07Oct08) with his arm bandaged and in a sling - sparking frenzy among internet gossips.
But a representative for Combs insists the injury isn’t that serious.
The spokesperson tells WENN: "He had surgery last week to correct a shoulder injury (a torn rotator cuff) that initially occurred a couple years ago, but had been bothering him recently."

AMERICAN IDOL host RYAN SEACREST has a new project - he plans to film a sitcom with celebrity socialite PARIS HILTON.
Seacrest is working with pal Hilton to come up with ideas for a new TV show for the star to appear in, and he believes the hotel heiress would be perfect in a primetime scripted series.
And Seacrest isn’t going too far in search of inspiration - the show will be based on Hilton’s lavish lifestyle.
He tells Access Hollywood, "Paris and I are developing a scripted series. And she wants to have fun with that. So I think that this is a very clever show.
"Paris is going to star in it. Paris is going to play a very clever and funny Paris Hilton. Some of things that she encounters are really interesting. And if we pepper in a little bit of script, I think it’s going to be very funny." Hilton is no stranger to TV work - she starred in several series of reality show The Simple Life with best pal Nicole Richie, and her latest show, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, is currently airing in the U.S.

NICOLE KIDMAN has heaped praise on ex-husband TOM CRUISE’S marriage to KATIE HOLMES, insisting it’s as deep and profound as her union to KEITH URBAN.
The actress married Cruise in 1990 but they split almost 10 years later and divorced in 2001.
Kidman went on to marry country singer Urban in 2006 and the pair has a daughter, Sunday Rose.
And the star is sure that her love for Urban is deeper and "more profound" than her feelings were for Cruise - but is adamant her ex-husband feels the same way about his new wife, actress Holmes.
She tells Elle magazine, "I didn’t foresee it, that you can meet somebody who you have a deep and more profound love with.
"I don’t mean to take away anything with Tom, but I would hope that he has the same thing - I know he has the same thing with Katie.

Actor RICHARD GERE refuses to read tabloid magazines - insisting they are a "waste of energy".
The Pretty Woman star decided to stop reading press articles about himself after one claimed he put a hamster up his bottom.
He says, "I stopped reading the press a long time ago. Lots of crazy things came up about me at first, especially from the tabloids. There is an infamous ‘Gere stuck a hamster up his bum’ urban myth.
"I expect that sort of thing but when reputable magazines started making up stories claiming I was in a country I had never been to with someone I didn’t even know, I just decided not to pay attention to any of it. It’s a waste of energy."

SCARLETT JOHANSSON has accused the press of "unbelievable sexism" towards former U.S. presidential hopeful HILLARY CLINTON.
The sexy actress, who is a staunch Democrat, used her appearance in the latest edition of U.S. Cosmo Girl to promote her political views, lambasting the media over its treatment of the New York senator - the first woman in history to have a chance at running for America’s president.
Clinton lost her campaign to become the Democratic candidate for presidency in June (08), with Barack Obama chosen to battle Republican John McCain for the White House race.
And Johansson was stunned by the treatment Clinton received from political pundits.
She tell the publication, "We still live in a country that’s sexist and racist. Those are issues that we deal with whether we want to ignore it or not.
"Seeing how the media portrayed Hillary (Clinton) with unbelievable sexism some of the things that people were saying were just so overwhelming. You just couldn’t believe the names that they were calling her!" But the star believes American culture will soon change - because she met so many politicised young people on a tour of U.S. colleges.
She adds, "These kids are just so well-informed and so interested. There were really obscure questions and debates that they wanted to lead - I couldn’t believe it! "And it was amazing how many of these kids turned out. I’m 23, and all of these kids are probably between 16 to 24. They’re my peers, so we can all talk on the same wavelength. We’re all connected by the same issues."

JAMES BOND star DANIEL CRAIG had to undergo cosmetic surgery after he was injured on the set of QUANTUM OF SOLACE.
The British actor was involved in a number of accidents while shooting the movie. He suffered injuries which included a fractured arm, a mangled finger, and a bruised eye.
And he even had cosmetic surgery after suffering a gash on his face during a fight scene with a co-star.
He tells Britain’s Elle magazine, "It’s a stupid inconvenience because we had to stop filming. But they gave me an excellent plastic surgeon."

Former SPICE GIRL VICTORIA BECKHAM has admitted her time living in Los Angeles has changed her personal style - she has started to wear flip-flops.
The star has rarely been seen without her trademark killer high-heels since she shot to fame in the Girl Power group in 1996.

KIEFER SUTHERLAND is reluctant to watch animated movies - because the 2003 movie FINDING NEMO frightened him.
The star took his daughter Sarah, then 15, to the cinema to watch the fish tale, when he got an unexpected shock.
He says, "I can watch something as simple as Finding Nemo. U.S. funnywoman KATHY GRIFFIN has taken action against a neighbour for allegedly violating her property by building a new wall.
The Life On The D-List star has filed a complaint with Los Angeles’ Building and Safety department to halt any further construction next to her Hollywood home.
According to official documents released by TMZ.com, Griffin’s neighbour has begun work on a driveway extension and the excavation of a new wall without seeking the correct permits.
The neighbour has been ordered to halt any further work on the property and may face a bill for the investigation into the complaint.

ZAC EFRON fell and hurt himself on the set of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR - after he had to run around a rotating hallway.
The 20-year-old actor - who plays a basketball player in the Disney films had to jump and slide down a revolving school corridor whilst performing a song and dance number.
And he admits he fell hard whilst filming the energetic scenes.
He says, "We had always talked about doing a scene in a revolving setting and then one day I walked in and there was a revolving hallway. It was like a square inside a big hamster wheel. I got there and the crew said, ‘OK, let’s go!’ I was like, ‘I haven’t rehearsed yet guys!’ "So Kenny Ortega, the director, told me to rehearse it but also filmed it at the same time. It was crazy! I fell over a few times. At one point it reversed direction and I wasn’t ready - I ate it then!"

Rock offspring JACK OSBOURNE suffers from stagefright - despite performing daredevil stunts for a living.
The son of rock royalty, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, has carved a career out of pushing himself to the limit, starring in hit TV show Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie, which is now in its fourth season.
But Osbourne has a crippling secret - the thought of standing on stage in front of fans is his biggest fear.
He says, "I hate doing shows like the (awards show) Brits. My worst fear is being in front of large audiences. You wouldn’t think it but I’m actually a really shy person, I get so nervous at these things." And the star admits he forces himself to confront his fears - because he doesn’t want to let down his family and friends.
He adds, "Peer pressure makes me do it and if the rest of my family are doing something, I kind of have to do it too.

LIAM GALLAGHER wants revenge on the man who attacked his brother NOEL on stage - he’d love to cut off the assailant’s private parts.
Guitarist Noel fell awkwardly during a show in Toronto, Canada on 7 September (08) after Daniel Sullivan rushed at him and tackled the rocker to the ground.
Gallagher suffered cracked ribs as a result of the fall - forcing the group to scrap the remaining dates of their North American tour, and three additional shows in Europe.
They performed their first gig since the attack on Tuesday (07Oct08) in Liverpool, England - but singer Liam is still livid with the unprovoked attack on Noel.
He tells Sky News, "It’s not nice when you look down and see your brother on the deck. If it was up to me, I’d have cut his (the attacker’s) dick off and made him eat it."

Former NIRVANA manager DANNY GOLDBERG tried desperately to get KURT COBAIN into rehab in the months before he took his own life.
Record executive Goldberg tried several "interventions" in a bid to help the iconic grunge rocker kick his drug addiction prior to his suicide in 1994.
And despite having the assistance of a range of medical professionals, nothing tempted Cobain into getting clean.
Goldberg tells NME magazine, "We tried different therapists and doctors and I remember performing at least two interventions, trying to get him into rehab.
Agonising over his self-destructiveness was a painful experience." But he insists Cobain’s demons never made him an aggressive personality branding the tragic star an "incredibly sweet guy".
He adds, "Nirvana weren’t difficult to manage. All of Kurt’s negativity was directed to himself, not the people around him. When he was really anguished he’d be prone to outbursts but overall he was an incredibly sweet guy." Goldberg is set to release a book of memoirs documenting his time in charge of Nirvana, entitled Bumping Into Geniuses.

Country star LeANN RIMES has pulled two concerts scheduled for this weekend (10-11Oct08) after doctors ordered her to rest her inflamed vocal chords.
The singer has been suffering from tonsillitis and has already scrapped six shows so far this year (08) as a result.
And now she’s had to cancel a gig in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday (10Oct08) and another in Charleston, West Virginia on Saturday (11Oct08).
However, Rimes hopes to be back onstage in time for her 17 October (08) concert in Lake Charles, Louisiana, according to a post on her official website.
