Hollywood star BILL MURRAY missed out on the chance to play BATMAN in the 1989 original superhero movie - when he was snubbed in favour of MICHAEL KEATON.
The Groundhog Day actor was one of the frontrunners to play the Caped Crusader, when movie bosses wanted to create a big screen replica of the camp 1960s TV version starring Adam West.
But Murray was sidelined once gothic director Tim Burton took the helm of the movie - and brought in his Beetlejuice charge Keaton.
However, Murray concedes he’s not angry about the move, because he’s a huge fan of Keaton’s portrayal of the billionaire crimefighter.
He tells MTV.com, "I would have been a fine Batman. You know, there have been a number of Batmen. I like them… I thought Mike Keaton did a great job as Batman. It’s obviously - it’s a great role." Other actors to play the part since Keaton include Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale.

HUGH HEFNER has fuelled reports he’s facing bankruptcy after opening the doors of his infamous Playboy Mansion to the public - for a fee.
Last month (Sep08), Hefner was reportedly advised to dismiss employees in his Los Angeles and New York offices to avoid financial ruin.
Hefner’s spokesperson Elizabeth Austin would neither confirm nor deny the financial problems at the time, stating: "It is our policy not to comment on corporate matters such as employee issues." The Playboy boss has since extended an invitation to the exclusive parties held at the mansion, charging $5,000 (£2,703) to $25,000 (£13,514) a ticket, depending on the celebrities in attendance.
Hefner, whose Playboy Enterprises owns the mansion, pays a reported $700,000 (£378,378) annually in rent for the pad.
A company spokesperson denies Hefner’s recent split from girlfriends Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson are related to his finances, adding the girls "are not even on the payroll. So, they would be the last to go."

LATEST: Model CHRISTIE BRINKLEY has filed a request for a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband PETER COOK.
Brinkley filed the documents along with a motion for post-judgment relief on Wednesday (08Oct08), a Suffolk County, New York official tells People.com.
The request comes just two days before Cook’s revealing U.S. TV interview is scheduled to air, when he will go public about the former couple’s messy public divorce and reveal all about the affair which led to the break-up of their marriage.
Brinkley hit out at Cook on Wednesday (08Oct08), accusing him of breaching the confidentiality agreement included in their divorce settlement by taping the segment.
The pair halted its bitter divorce trial in July (08) when both parties announced a settlement deal, which was finalised on 3 October (08).
Brinkley’s new motion has been marked on the court calendar for 29 October (08).

Hollywood actress EVA MENDES has lashed out at comparisons to fellow Latina JENNIFER LOPEZ, insisting her career is "more serious".
The We Own The Night beauty has made a name for herself in Hollywood with roles in box office blockbusters like Training Day, Ghost Rider, and Hitch, while Lopez has carved out a career in music, acting and fashion.
But Mendes hates being pitted against Lopez when people talk about successful Latinas - because she claims she’s more attentive and dedicated to her chosen profession.
She says, "I would like to think I will have a more serious career than J.Lo.
We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop. She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible."

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star ZAC EFRON was left shaken during a night out in London with girlfriend VANESSA HUDGENS - after he was attacked by a middle-aged man.
The 20-year-old hunk was making his way through a throng of screaming fans as he left the Apollo Theatre with Hudgens on Wednesday (08Oct08) after checking out Hollywood star Josh Hartnett’s performance in a stage adaptation of Rain Man.
But he was stunned when a man - presumed to be in his late 40s - pushed through Efron’s security team and tried to grab the star’s hair.
The assailant reportedly screamed and pointed as Efron and Hudgens were hurried away, before security personnel eventually restrained him and moved him away from the area, according to Britain’s Daily Mail online.
A source tells the website, "’Some guy was just stood near the door where Zac and Vanessa emerged. He just reached over and grabbed the side of Zac’s head.
There was no provocation. It all turned into a bit of a mess.
"He was shouting all kinds of things at Zac. Their security team eventually dealt with it. They had to bundle Zac into a car, but at one point it looked as though the man was going to be pushed into it with him."

Metal band MASTODON have been forced to ditch their heavy sound - because a brain haemorrhage has mellowed out frontman BRENT HINDS.
The rocker was attacked outside the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas last September (07). He suffered a haemorrhage resulting from his injuries, and has battled with severe vertigo ever since.
Hinds spent much of his recovery time writing music under the influence of marijuana, which dulled the pain - but left him too chilled to rock out.
He tells Rolling Stone, "I was dizzy for eight months. During those months, I just sat with my acoustic and a little marijuana, and wrote all the music. I wanted a more melodic, easy-listening situation, and that definitely came from having head trauma."

Vegetarian pop sensation LEONA LEWIS turned down a $1.85 million (£1 million) offer to open the summer (08) sale at London department store Harrods - because it sells fur.
The Bleeding Love hitmaker, who gave up meat when she was 12 years old, refused to accept the lucrative deal from Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed, because she doesn’t want to be associated with any store or brand that appears to promote the use of fur.
She says, "I’m totally against animal cruelty. I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from any animal products." The honour instead went to Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall.
Harrods has declined to comment on the reports. It is the only department store in the U.K. that continues to sell fur, according to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

Rapper T.I. is urging America’s youth not to copy their idols’ political persuasions - because they need to make up their own minds about who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election.
The Whatever You Like star, real name Clifford Harris Jr., is unable to cast his vote when the country goes to the polls in November (08), because of his criminal past.
But he wants his fans to pay close attention to the ongoing political debates between presidential hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama, so they can choose for themselves who is better suited to leading their country.
He tells MTV.com, "When I’m speaking to young people and they say, ‘Who you voting for?’ I say, ‘Well, what (do) you think’s wrong with the country? What problems do you need to be fixed? OK, then cut your PlayStation off and turn to CNN and listen to these people. Listen to each of the candidates’ platforms, and whoever you think is speaking passionately and intelligently and will do the things you think need changed, that’s who you vote for.’ It ain’t as easy as saying, ‘T.I., OK, tell me who to vote for.’"

Recovering rocker TRAVIS BARKER will pour his heart out about the plane crash that killed his best friends last month (Sep08) in a new album.
The former Blink-182 drummer and his pal Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein were the only survivors after the Learjet they were passengers on failed to clear a runway in South Carolina and burst into flames. Four people died in the September (08) crash, including Barker’s assistant and close pal Chris Baker.
Barker considers himself lucky to be alive, and is desperate to return to the studio and use the tragedy to inspire new music.
He tells Us Weekly magazine, "I can’t wait to work on my records. I lost one of my best friends in this crash. I can’t wait to get back to writing and expressing myself, get back into the swing of things. I have so much stuff just jumbled in my head right now. I can’t wait."

CHARLIZE THERON has been ordered back to court, where a jury will decide if she has to pay a luxury watchmaker $20 million (£10.8 million) for breaking a contract with them.
Bosses at Swiss company Raymond Weil claim they paid Theron the sum to wear its watches exclusively between October 2005 and December 2006.
According to court papers, Theron was also the face of a Dior perfume, and "was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line" at a press event in Austin, Texas on 14 March 2006.
The Oscar winner’s legal team’s attempts to have the case dismissed have failed, and a hearing for the trial will now take place at Federal Court for the Southern District of New York later this month (Oct08).

Pop star LILY ALLEN was reportedly questioned by police on Thursday (09Oct08) after a visitor to her London home was allegedly involved in a street fight.
The unnamed man left the Smile singer’s north London residence followed by his unleashed Labrador, which quickly became aggressive toward a passerby’s pet dog.
According to reports, the animal owners began to argue, and were seen swearing and shouting at each other in the street.
Local police were called as the angry exchange escalated, ending with Allen’s pal being arrested after aiming a punch at the stranger.
The singer was seen at the door, wearing a dressing gown, after the incident had occurred. She was later questioned by police.
A source tells WENN, "The man leaving Lily’s house seemed intoxicated. His dog wasn’t on a lead and went for another man’s dog.
"The two men got really angry with each other, a woman became involved and called the police." A police spokesperson was unavailable as WENN went to press.

Hollywood star JENNIFER LOPEZ has stashed away most of the $6 million (£3.24 million) she was paid for an exclusive photoshoot with her twin babies MAX and EMME - because she wants to "set them up" in life.
The singer/actress and her salsa singer husband Marc Anthony sold the rights to their first family shoot to America’s People magazine in March (08) - a month after the tots were born.
But Lopez admits she opposed the idea for some time before finally relenting to the floods of offers.
She tells The Daily Beast website, "I think one of the reasons that the price went so high is that we didn’t want to do it for so long… We weren’t into it.
I was like, ‘No, I don’t really want to. No. No way.’ "But then it got to the point that you go, ‘Well, now you’re being stupid with these offers’… I thought I can set them up. I can put this away just for them. We gave a little bit (away to charity) and I saved the rest for them." And Lopez - who came ninth in a recent Forbes poll of the richest females in showbusiness - has defended her decision to accept the big-money deal, insisting, "I wouldn’t believe everything I read."

ANGELINA JOLIE’s maternal spirit comes shining through on the cover of the November issue of W magazine - she’s captured breastfeeding.
W bosses chose a shot of the actress suckling one of her newborn twins to highlight a series of intimate photos taken by her partner Brad Pitt, which all appear in the issue.
A smiling and tired-looking Jolie, wearing only a maternity dress, poses for her man, her left nipple covered by a baby’s tiny hand.
Inside the magazine, there are another 21 candid shots of the movie star.
As well as more breastfeeding shots, Pitt also shows off a series of tasteful, near-nude portraits as well as playful ones of Jolie playing with their children and pulling faces for the camera.
Pitt shot the photos in mid-August (08) at Chateau Miraval, the family’s home in the South of France.

DANIEL CRAIG has heaped praise on his JAMES BOND co-star DAME JUDI DENCH - but is adamant the pair will never enjoy an on-screen romantic liaison.
The Oscar winner has played the role of M in the 007 movies since 1995, and Craig feels honoured to be working with the British actress, insisting she is "gorgeous".
But he rules out a union between Bond and his boss - unless the scriptwriters become desperate.

JOHN LENNON’s widow YOKO ONO is launching an exhibition of never-before-seen artwork created by the late BEATLE at a New York gallery.
Imagine Peace opens on Thursday (09Oct08) - on what would have been Lennon’s 68th birthday - at Manhattan’s Openhouse Gallery in SoHo.
The exhibit will feature more than 100 works created by the musician between 1968 and 1980.
Ono has been showing parts of the collection for 15 years across the country, with door donations going to local charities.
Among the rare artworks included are Lennon’s controversial Bag-One lithograph drawings, so erotic that London police force Scotland Yard once seized them from a show.
Collection curator Rudy Siegel admits he expects a diverse crowd of art aficionados and Lennon fans in attendance, adding: "We’ve had them hung next to our Picassos and our Warhols. They hold their own." Lennon’s exhibit will run through till Sunday (12Oct08).

Actor OLIVER PLATT is to return to Broadway in a revival of GUYS AND DOLLS.
The Huff star made his New York stage debut in 2006’s Shining City, for which he was nominated for the Best Actor Tony Award.
He will head back to the theatre to play 1950s gangster Nathan Detroit in the new adaptation, which will be directed by Des McAnuff.
Frank Sinatra famously played the role, alongside Marlon Brando, in a 1955 movie version.
The musical last appeared on Broadway in 1992, and is scheduled to begin previews on 3 February (09) at the Nederlander Theatre.

Australian filmmaker BAZ LUHRMANN will be honoured by New York’s Museum of Modern Art next month (Nov08) with a tribute gala.
Hugh Jackman, Lurhmann’s compatriot and the star of his new movie Australia, will host the fund-raising event, which coincides with the film’s release.
All money raised will go towards the museum’s film collection, which was established in 1935 and holds more than 22,000 movies.
