SHARPTON CONVICTED
Leading African-American rights campaigner REVD. AL SHARPTON has been convicted of disorderly conduct after taking part in a New York protest in May (08) Sharpton was among 250 people arrested for blocking bridges and walkways while protesting the 2006 shooting death of Sean Bell.
Police shot and killed Bell on his wedding day.
The activists were protesting the acquittal of the three police officers involved in the shooting.
Sharpton, who spent over five hours behind bars following his arrest, and seven others were sentenced to time served.
