BRINKLEY UPSET ABOUT CANDID COOK CHAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

Model CHRISTIE BRINKLEY has fired back at ex-husband PETER COOK over his decision to go public about their marriage split in an upcoming TV news special, accusing the architect of breaching a confidentiality agreement.
Cook has taped a 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters, which will air in America on Friday (10Oct08), and his former wife is livid.
In a segment of the TV chat, which has already leaked in online news reports, Cook reveals the affair which led to the break-up of his marriage started because he found "a connection" with his teenage mistress that he didn’t have with his wife.
His comments have upset his ex, and her attorney, Robert Stephan Cohen, has fired off the following statement: "It is a measure of Peter Cook’s character that he has breached the confidentiality agreement that is in the divorce settlement and has sought to present this distorted one sided view of his marriage." Brinkley is also angry that her ex has seen fit to comment publicly about the child custody settlement that resulted from a bitter court battle last year (07).
Cohen’s statement continues, "Mr. Cook had his days in court, testified on his own behalf and ultimately agreed with the view of the children’s court appointed attorney and psychiatrist that the children should live principally with their mother and that she should be the sole custodial parent." Cook and Brinkley’s divorce was finalised in Suffolk County, New York on 3 October (08).

PRIESTLEY TO DIRECT 90210 EPISODE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

Actor JASON PRIESTLEY will join his former BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 castmates in the new series’ spin-off - as a director.
Priestley is in talks to take the helm for an episode of the new show which is set to air next spring (09).
And the 39-year-old star will reportedly be joined by his former onscreen sister, Shannen Doherty, who is in negotiations to return for two more episodes less than a month after turning down offers to extend her contract with the show’s producers.
Doherty’s negotiations follow original co-star Jennie Garth’s agreement to add another five episodes to her stint on 90210.
The pair’s former castmate, Tori Spelling, turned down the chance to reprise her role on the spin-off following a reported salary dispute, and another 90210 oldie, Luke Perry, has repeatedly refused to talk about the new show - even though his character is part of the storyline.
Executive producer Gabe Sachs admits he’s just happy that Priestley is potentially onboard, "I think it would be a kick for Jason to work with any of his (former 90210 co-stars), and it would also add something special to that episode." Meanwhile, another former Beverly Hills, 90210 star, Brian Austin Green, has revealed he wants to make a cameo appearance in the new spin-off series.
He recently denied rumours he has been approached to play David Silver once more - but now claims he would consider a walk-on part if he was offered the chance.
He says, "If it made sense, it would be fun to do just a couple of scenes."

MCCAIN ISN’T A HERO TO THE FOO FIGHTERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Rockers the FOO FIGHTERS have become the latest act to take aim at U.S.
presidential candidate JOHN McCAIN for using one of their songs at his rallies.
A month after Jackson Browne filed suit against the McCain campaign for using his song Running on Empty without consent, Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters are now upset the Republican’s marketing strategists have adopted their My Hero at pre-election stops without permission.
Grohl states, "It’s frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property.
"The saddest thing about this is that My Hero was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song."

DEPP SCOOPS BIGGEST EVER UP-FRONT PAYOUT FOR PIRATES 4

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

Hollywood star JOHNNY DEPP will reportedly pocket a staggering $59.2 million (£32 million) pay cheque for reprising his role as CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW in a fourth installment of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise.
The big-money deal will make Hollywood history as the highest up-front payment ever - overshadowing the $53.65 million (£29 million) Tom Hanks was offered to star in the forthcoming The Da Vinci Code sequel, Angels & Demons.
But a movie insider insists Disney Studio bosses - who are behind the hugely successful franchise - would pay anything to keep Depp on their books.
The source tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, "There’s only one Johnny Depp
. They simply cannot make another Pirates movie without Jack Sparrow.
"The first three films have earned $2.7 billion (£1.46 billion) at the box office
. It’s no surprise that Disney executives want Jack back and they are willing to pay big bucks to get him." However, it is unlikely Depp’s co-stars Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will return to star in another sequel.
Knightley, who played Elizabeth Swann in the adventure trilogy recently said: "I think it was wonderful and an amazing opportunity and those films were just extraordinary and I was extremely lucky to be a part of them
. But no
. I think my pirating days may be over."

QUAID’S SOUTHERN ROOTS INSPIRE MOVIE ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

DENNIS QUAID credits his upbringing in the racially-segregated southern U.S.
with inspiring his role in forthcoming film THE EXPRESS.
The 54-year-old actor, who was raised in Texas, plays a football coach in the drama, which is based on the life of American college football hero Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy.
He says, "It’s a very emotional story… It’s set in 1959 when racial tensions were high in this country before the civil rights movement bubbled up and in the time of segregation.
"That’s the experience I did have growing up, especially down in the South I remember those times. I remember being a kid and (having) separate restrooms and separate drinking fountains and Ernie Davis was able to walk through some doors and break down some barriers in a quietly graceful way."

BLONSKY BLASTS MODEL’S ‘LIES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

LATEST: HAIRSPRAY actress NIKKI BLONSKY has hit back at model BIANCA GOLDEN’s account of the pair’s Caribbean airport brawl - accusing the reality TV star of lying.
Golden, Blonsky and her father Carl Blonsky were all detained in the Turks and Caicos Islands in July (08) after a fight broke out in the holiday destination’s airport lounge.
The America’s Next Top Model contestant told talk show host Tyra Banks this month (Oct08) that Carl Blonsky "punched" her mum before his daughter joined in the attack. She claimed Blonsky started the confrontation by being rude to her, and accuses the family of yelling "they got rabies" at the Goldens after the fight broke out.
But Blonsky insists the Goldens were the instigators.
She tells People magazine that the model’s brother George tripped up a passenger who had been trying to save seats.
She says, "He looked at me and said, ‘What the f**k are you looking at you fat white b**ch?" Blonsky claims Golden then stepped into the fight and punched her in the head.
And she is furious about the model’s claims her mother was attacked, adding, "Absolute lies. I never kicked her mother. My father never hit anybody. (And) we never said anything about rabies. Its disrespectful that somebody would say that I’m racist." Blonsky adds that her dad has been off work since the incident, and the whole family "are completely destroyed over being accused of something we didn’t do.
I wake up in severe nightmares, swearing, saying, ‘Please stop hitting me.’" A hearing is set for 1 December (08) in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

STONE’S W FAILS TO IMPRESS CRITICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

OLIVER STONE’s filmmaking skills have come under question after a series of noted movie critics were left unimpressed by his eagerly anticipated GEORGE W.
BUSH biopic, W.
The JFK moviemaker rushed to shoot and edit the film so it could open in cinemas throughout the U.S. before the forthcoming presidential elections in November (08).
And some of the industry’s most respected film critics have taken aim at Stone for doing so - with one writer claiming the quality of the rush job is no better than a made-for-TV movie.
According to Britain’s The Times newspaper, the subject matter - Bush’s life from adolescence to his White House administration - is too much for a two hour movie, insisting the content gets "the better of Stone".
And U.K. newspaper The Guardian’s Dan Glaister says the film "plays like a TV movie rather than a cinematic epic", branding the project "conventional" compared to Stone’s previous, edgier work.
However, most pundits have praised the film’s lead Josh Brolin, insisting the star’s turn as President Bush will most likely earn him a string of Best Actor awards, describing his performance as "arresting".
Industry publication Variety says, "The actor offers a more than reasonable physical approximation and an interpretation that’s convincingly boisterous and determined." The film, which co-stars Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair, Thandie Newton as Condoleeza Rice and Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, hits U.S. cinemas on 17 October (08).
