Actor ADRIEN BRODY recruited the help of close pal GIORGIO ARMANI to help design the interiors of his castle home in New York after writing a letter to the legendary Italian fashion guru.
The Darjeeling Limited star bought his "dream home" - a 19th century farm in the countryside - last summer (07) as a special birthday present for actress girlfriend Elsa Pataky.
The couple, who refuse to hire professionals to finish the property, has since spent all their free time redesigning and decorating it - with the help of their famous friend Armani.
Brody says, "We prefer to do it ourselves. I think it’s very important to be involved personally with anything creative. I cannot just hand things over.
I’ve got lots of ideas and I can’t just let somebody else do it. It doesn’t feel as rewarding as doing it yourself.
"No architects, no property specialists, none of that - although we do have good friends who help us out. One of them is Giorgio Armani. One day I wrote a letter to Armani asking him if he’d be interested in helping us. He loved the idea and got personally involved." And Brody admits there is so much work to do on the castle, he has devoted the rest of his life to renovating it.
He adds, "It’s never going to be finished. It’s a life project, whether I like it or not! I think that there’s beauty in that, in acknowledging that something can never be really finished. I think that this farm can constantly evolve."

Rapper KANYE WEST is refusing to apologise to the paparazzi in Los Angeles over a scuffle last month (Sep08) - instead requesting they leave him alone.
The Stronger hitmaker landed at the city’s LAX airport on Friday (03Oct08) from Hawaii, where he was putting the finishing touches to his upcoming album 808s & Heartbreak.
But the hip-hop star restrained himself from repeating his actions at LAX last month (11Sep08), when he reportedly attacked a photographer and smashed his equipment to the ground during a struggle.
Instead, West declined snappers’ calls for an apology for the airport fracas, simply telling them: "I’m gonna ask you as a man to leave me alone." West and his assistant were arrested following the September (08) incident and charged with felony vandalism, but the charge was later dropped by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Rock legend JERRY LEE LEWIS is to return to the U.K. 50 years after his ill-fated 1958 tour was scrapped following revelations about his private life.
The singer came to Britain in May 1958, aged 22, to play a series of live dates across the country - but the roadshow was cancelled after just three concerts when it emerged that Lewis’ third wife, Myra Gale Brown, was his first cousin once removed - and was just 13 years old.
The scandal forced Lewis back to his native U.S., where he was snubbed by radio stations and pushed into hiding.
Now 73, Lewis has regained his status as a rock icon, and is set to play two dates in London on 25 and 28 October (08), with a further date in March 2009 with fellow 50s legend Little Richard.

DIRE STRAITS star JOHN ILLSLEY desperately wants former bandmate MARK KNOPFLER to agree to reforming the group - because he’d "love to do" a comeback tour.
The bassist is keen to join forces with Knopfler and treat fans to a string of reunion shows - but is struggling to convince the guitarist, who is currently concentrating on solo projects.
The Sultans of Swing rockers disbanded in 1995, and Knopfler has often commented on his reluctance to reform the group - insisting he doesn’t need the money and isn’t even a fan of Dire Straits’ early hits.
Illsley, who is set to release his first solo album in more than 20 years later this month (Oct08), is adamant the reformation is a good idea - but admits it’s eventually "entirely up to Mark".
He tells the BBC, "He says ‘Oh, I don’t know whether to start getting all that stuff back together again’.
"I’m very open to doing whatever’s suggested. I think we’ve definitely got one more tour left in us, and probably another record too." He adds, "But he’s doing incredibly well as a solo artist, so hats off to him. He’s having a perfectly good time doing what he’s doing."

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY refuses to read reviews of her own movies, because they leave her depressed and housebound for days.
The British star has received criticism of her acting in the past, and it affected her so much, she now avoids reviews.
Knightley tells Glamour magazine, "Unless I’m unfortunate enough to catch something by accident, which happens, and it’s always a bad review. Always, it’s amazing. I will be sitting in a cafe, and I will open a random paper right to the page of the review. And then you’re sucked in and go home and never want to go out again."

ANGELINA JOLIE considers partner BRAD PITT her best friend - and feels blessed to have six children with him.
The Tomb Raider star has three adopted kids and three biological tots including twins, born earlier this year (Jul08) - with the actor.
And the 33-year-old reveals that newborns Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline are developing features and personalities reminiscent of their famous parents.
She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "It’s so much fun but it’s very hard work.
The kids are forming beautiful friendships. They’re team mates and they’re very loving to the babies.
"The twins are just the sweetest little things. They lay next to each other.
They’re starting to smile a lot. Knox looks like Brad and Vivienne looks more like me. They are developing interesting personalities. Knox seems more relaxed and Vivienne is more loud." And the actress feels lucky to have her extended brood, and relishes the time she spends in their company.
She adds: "I feel so blessed that every day I wake up and I live with my favourite people in the world and my best friend."

MADONNA has lashed out at U.S. vice presidential candidate SARAH PALIN - and banned the politician from ever coming to her concerts.
The Holiday hitmaker was performing a show in Meadowlands, New Jersey as part of her Sticky & Sweet tour on Saturday (04Oct08) when she began a tirade against Palin.
She told the crowd: "Sarah Palin can’t come to my party. Sarah Palin can’t come to my show. It’s nothing personal," before adding, "Here’s the sound of Sarah Palin’s husband’s snowmobile when it won’t start," followed by a loud screeching noise.
Madonna has previously shown her dislike of the Republican party on her current tour by using presidential candidate John McCain’s image in a video segment alongside scenes of destruction, global warming and starving children.

Hollywood star ANNE HATHAWAY is lined up to join JOHNNY DEPP and HELENA BONHAM CARTER for director TIM BURTON’s adaptation of ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
The Devil Wears Prada actress is slated for the role of the White Queen opposite Bonham Carter’s Red Queen, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Little known Australian actress Mia Wasikowska has landed the lead role of Alice, while Depp will portray the Mad Hatter in pal Burton’s take on the Lewis Carroll classic.
The film, which is due for release in 2010, will mix live action with animation and will be in 3D.

BOB GELDOF’s daughter PIXIE has had the signature of her late mother PAULA YATES tattooed on her wrist as a lasting tribute to the tragic TV star.
The British presenter died from a heroin overdose at her London home in 2000 aged 41, when Pixie was just 10 years old.
And the partygirl has decided to honour her late mum by inking Yates’ autograph onto her skin, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper.
A source tells the publication, "Pixie had wanted some kind of tattoo to remember her by. She decided on this one so she’d be reminded of her every day."

30 ROCK creator TINA FEY has signed an exclusive book deal - after her recent Emmy triumph sparked a bidding war between the world’s leading publishers.
The comedienne swept the board at the Primetime Emmy Awards last month (Sep08), picking up gongs for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress.
Publishers soon realised the prospects of having Fey on their roster, with offers reportedly reaching a staggering $6 million (£3.24 million) for her first tome.
And Fey has signed with publisher the Little, Brown Book Group, in a deal that is rumoured to be worth $5 million (£2.8 million).
According to New York gossip column PageSix, the book will not be Fey’s memoir, but will be "non-fiction humour" to fit in with the star’s performance style on America’s Saturday Night Live.

ZAC EFRON was stunned to land a part in the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise because he cannot dance or play basketball.
The young actor - who plays Troy Bolton in the movie musicals - initially found the dance routines hard to master, because he has no rhythm.
He says, "I’m definitely not a dancer. I grew up being into sports and I wasn’t trained to move my body in the right way for dancing. I’m the last one to get any move correct.
"In rehearsals it’s always, ‘OK, one more take for Zac’." And Efron also struggled with his scenes as the film’s basketball ace: "I played for a few years when I was at school. I remember a championship game when I was in the sixth grade.
"I gave away the ball at the last second and the other team scored. I lost the game for my team. It was pretty bad. It’s much more fun now because it’s usually in the script that we win."

Hollywood legend CLINT EASTWOOD is convinced people have lost faith in politics - because they are constantly fed lies in a bid to secure their vote.

Rocker LIAM GALLAGHER has hit out at music-lovers who download albums for free, insisting he does not want them as fans.
The Oasis frontman says the idea of giving away records on the internet "doesn’t sit right with me" because it costs bands money to record.
And his brother Noel also waded into the row by comparing music company executives to "Wall Street idiots" who drive sports cars in the middle of the credit crunch.
Singer Liam tells USA Today newspaper, "This is my living. It costs me to make it, and it’s going to cost you to buy it. If they won’t buy it, I don’t want them as our fans." Record company bosses estimate that illegal downloads cost the industry 25 per cent of profits.
But guitarist Noel insists executives are wrong to complain, because the lost money would only have been frittered away.
He adds: "That’s what was spent on champagne and limos. It’s good when record companies panic. They need to streamline. Just like these big banks going under, and those Wall Street idiots driving Ferraris. What about people who had a hurricane rip apart their community? That’s real pressure, my friend."

Pop star FERGIE’s high school prom date has been arrested on charges of armed robbery.
The Black Eyed Peas star attended her high school ball with Vincent Dean Malicek in 1993.
He was taken into custody by California police last Friday (03Oct08) after allegedly robbing a Wells Fargo bank in a Santa Ana branch of Ralphs supermarket.
According to website TMZ.com, Malicek was caught on CCTV footage allegedly brandishing a silver handgun as he attempted to rob the bank.

PINK FLOYD guitarist DAVID GILMOUR is furious the rockers did not play at legendary U.K. music festival Glastonbury - because it denied his late bandmate RICK WRIGHT’s wish to perform at a major outside event.
Earlier this year (Jun08) Gilmour spoke out against Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis, alleging he had been snubbed as one of the festival’s headlining acts in favour of younger bands.
Eavis quickly refuted Gilmour’s claims, insisting the line-up had been finalised before he was contacted by the rocker’s people requesting a slot at the event.
But Gilmour is not ready to forget the incident, saying it brings him great "sadness" that Wright, who died last month (Sep08) aged 65 after a short battle with cancer, didn’t get to live out his final career goal.
He told the crowd at London’s Q Awards on Thursday (06Oct08), where he picked up the Outstanding Contribution gong, "Rick Wright…with whom I’ve worked for 40 odd years now, and that has now come to an end. There is all sorts of music that I’ll not be able to play again, without him, which is a source of sadness for me.
"One of the last things he wanted to do, in this last year, was to do a big outdoor festival, such as Glastonbury. We weren’t able to do that due to all sorts of strange reasons, which, again, is a sadness."

Former DESTINY’S CHILD star MICHELLE WILLIAMS slid into depression following the band’s break-up - because she missed BEYONCE KNOWLES and KELLY ROWLAND so much.
The hit trio had a brief hiatus to pursue their solo projects but reunited in 2004 to release their fifth and final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled.
And Williams says the pain of being apart from her beloved bandmates left her heartbroken - she would burst into tears at the mere mention of their names.
She tell’s Britain’s You magazine, "We all went through a depression when Destiny’s Child broke up.
"I remember going out to lunch with a friend and he asked how Beyonce and Kelly were and I burst into tears because I missed them so much and he suggested I needed counselling! It wasn’t that bad, just a natural response after spending so much time together."
