DJ SAMANTHA RONSON has settled a legal dispute with celebrity blogger PEREZ HILTON by paying her outstanding legal costs - just three days before she was due to appear in court.
Ronson - the sister of British producer Mark Ronson - sued Hilton for defamation after he accused her of being the owner of cocaine found in girlfriend Lindsay Lohan’s vehicle following the actress’ car accident in Los Angeles in May 2007.
The case was thrown out of court last November (07), and Hilton - real name Mario Lavandeira - was subsequently awarded costs amounting to more than $86,000 (£46,400).
Hilton then filed for a judgement debtor examination hearing, set for Monday (06Oct08) at Los Angeles Superior Court, because Ronson refused to pay up.
But on Friday (03Oct08), Ronson finally handed over a cheque for $86,832 (£46,936) - meaning she will not have to appear in court.
Hilton’s lawyer Bryan J. Freeman says, "For fear of having to appear in court, she paid off the judgement."

Teen sensation MILEY CYRUS turned her Sweet Sixteen bash at Disneyland in California into a family affair on Sunday (05Oct08), with performances from her father BILLY RAY, her sister BRANDI, and her boyfriend JUSTIN GASTON.
The Hannah Montana star doesn’t turn 16 until 23 November (08), but Disney bosses threw a special bash for her at the theme park, closing it to the public for the day.
The big event - which was attended by an estimated 5,000 people, who each paid $250 (£135) for a ticket - also saw guest appearances by former supermodels Tyra Banks and Cindy Crawford, comedian Steve Carell, and actresses Jennifer Love Hewitt and Demi Lovato.
Cyrus’ country singer dad helped to open for the birthday girl, and performed his hit song Achy Breaky Heart with his daughter Brandi and guitarist Gaston, reports People.com.
The young star then took to the stage for a four-song performance, during which she told the crowd: "This is the most amazing sweet 16 that a girl could have!" After her set, the audience sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the star before being treated to a fireworks display above Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Certain rides including Space Mountain and the Pirates of the Caribbean remained open late for the partygoers to enjoy, and Cyrus was still buzzing with energy after midnight, saying: "It’s been a long night, but I’m still ready to party and ride some rides!" But that wasn’t all for Cyrus; she was also treated to an early birthday present by her parents - a new dog named Sophie.

COLDPLAY have triumphed at the 2008 Q Awards in London - the rockers picked up two prizes at Monday’s (06Oct08) ceremony, including the Best Act In The World Today gong.
The Violet Hill hitmakers were also presented with the award for Best Album for their latest LP Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.
Coldplay were originally nominated in four categories, but lost out on Best Track to British band Keane for their single Spiralling, and Best Video to Vampire Weekend for A-Punk.

The husband-and-wife of twelve years are back together after a brief split earlier this year (08).
Wright Penn insists they are stronger than ever, and credits her first ever outing with the actor/director.
She says, "I walked in, the door was ajar. We were going to dinner. He said, ‘I’ll be right in’.

British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS is set to end his two-year career hiatus - he is planning to release an album in 2009.
The Angels singer has been on "album strike" due to discrepancies with his record label EMI and its new owners, business giant Terra Firma.
Fans feared Williams would never record again after living an increasingly reclusive life holed up at his Los Angeles mansion since his 2006 LP Rudebox.
But the star’s manager, Tim Clark, tells BBC Newsbeat that the singer is penning new songs for an album - and hopes to release it next year (09).
Clark says, "I would certainly hope that a new album will be coming next year. There are never any guarantees but that’s what we would hope." And when asked about Williams’ current relationship with EMI and how that will effect the album’s release, Clark replied, "We have no idea how EMI will market and promote the album." However, Clark insists Williams is doing well, and enjoying the creative songwriting process.
He adds, "He’s been writing and we heard some wonderful stuff. I was with Robbie last week. He was at home and he was writing songs and he played some of them to us.
"He’s in very fine spirits, in very fine form and I think what he’s doing sounds really wonderful."

BLACK EYED PEAS singer will.i.am has warned fans of MICHAEL JACKSON not to expect a new album anytime soon - because the superstar can’t be rushed through the recording process.
The star has been working on Jackson’s first LP since 2001’s Invincible for more than two years, but has given no indication of when the King of Pop’s new material will be ready.
He tells BBC’s 1Xtra show, "There’s all these artists in the world like Neo, Chris Brown and Usher, Justin Timberlake, Fergies and Rihannas and then there’s Michael Jackson.
"Michael Jackson has a different pace and you can not put Michael Jackson in that category especially when a lot of those artists have been inspired by Michael Jackson.
"So Michael Jackson is gonna release his record when he releases his record."

A sequel to KEVIN COSTNER’s award-winning baseball movie BULL DURHAM is in the pipeline, according U.S. reports.
The hit 1988 movie, starring Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, was nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar at the 1989 ceremony in Los Angeles.
Costner has been in a series of meetings with the film’s director Ron Shelton to discuss the possibility of resurrecting his Crash Davis character in a sequel to the beloved film.
Sarandon is also slated to return to play Annie Savoy, according to New York gossip column PageSix.
The actress was nominated for a Golden Globe and won the Best Actress gong at the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards for the role.

LATEST: A renowned music manager has dealt LINDSAY LOHAN’s younger sister ALI a devastating career blow, by insisting he has no "interest or intention" of adding the wannabe pop star to his celebrity-packed roster.
Dina Lohan, mum and manager of Lindsay and Ali, was reportedly desperate to get Ali a deal with Johnny Wright - who has made a name for himself by looking after superstars such as Justin Timberlake and The Jonas Brothers.
Last month (Sep08), Dina’s representative told the New York Post’s PageSix column that she and Ali were expecting to meet with Wright’s firm to discuss ways to further Ali’s stalled music career.
Her first single, All The Way Around, from her debut LP, failed to set the U.S. Billboard chart alight when it was released earlier this year (08).
But Wright claims neither he nor his company were ever scheduled to meet with Dina.
In a statement to PageSix, Wright says, "Johnny Wright would like to set the record straight regarding his involvement with Ali Lohan.
"Johnny Wright has never met with Ali Lohan, has never been introduced to Ali Lohan, nor has he had a meeting with Ali or Dina Lohan regarding Ali’s music career.
"While he wishes Ali Lohan the best in all her endeavors, Mr. Wright has never had any intention of speaking with Ali Lohan regarding her career. Any story that has surfaced about such a meeting holds no merit and is completely false." Wright adds, "Wright Entertainment Group has never had any interest or intention of adding Ali Lohan as an artist on the company’s roster, which currently includes Justin Timberlake, Jonas Brothers, Janet Jackson and Ciara amongst others."

And she admits she loved filming her scenes - because Dirty Harry actor Eastwood was the ideal director.
She tells USA Today newspaper, "It’s not just in strength or just a sense of cool. He’s such a gentleman. When you work on a film with him, he treats every single person on the crew with an enormous amount of gratitude and respect no matter what they’re doing.
"And he really makes a point to show it and encourages the best in everybody.

After spending her working life as an English teacher in Illinois, Kay and the star’s father Ronald retired to Tennessee - where she has thrown herself into amateur dramatics.
And the Ally McBeal star, her fiance Harrison Ford, and her adopted son Liam were on hand to watch Kay’s stage debut.
Flockhart explains, "She had done some acting in college. And then she was a teacher her whole life. Then my father and her retired and moved to Tennessee, and she just did a production of Driving Miss Daisy. Liam and Harrison and I flew down. She was very good. She made me laugh."

THE SOUND OF MUSIC legend DAME JULIE ANDREWS is to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement gong at America’s National Arts Awards.
The English actress will be named as the recipient of the prestigious honour at a ceremony in New York on Monday (06Oct08).
Late Beatle John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono wins the Kitty Carlisle Hart Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts, while veteran record producer Phil Ramone will receive the Arts Advocacy Award.

Hip-hop titan JAY-Z has proved he has the Midas touch - half the tickets available for next year’s (09) Glastonbury festival were snapped up within hours.
The 99 Problems hitmaker was blamed for poor ticket sales at the 2008 event, with some critics insisting hip-hop acts didn’t belong at such a rock-orientated festival.
However, Jay-Z thrilled fans with his headlining slot at the event in June (08), and opened the doors for other rap stars to perform at similar shows.
And now, Glastonbury bosses have revealed that half of the total number of tickets for 2009’s festival were snapped up as soon as they went on sale on Sunday (05Oct08).
The move has come as a confidence booster for festival organisers because fans won’t know any of the headline acts until early next year (09).
Glastonbury spokesman John Shearlaw tells the BBC, "We are very calm about it - it’s a vote of confidence. It’s brilliant that here we are in October talking about a festival that isn’t happening until next year."
