Hollywood actress CAMERON DIAZ nearly missed out on a role in hit comedy movie THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY - because her managers warned it could end her career.
Diaz won critical acclaim for the film, landing her first Emmy Award nomination for her outrageous turn opposite Ben Stiller.
But the Charlie’s Angels star admits that she came close to turning down the role after advisors told her the controversial script could stall her blossoming Hollywood career.
She tells Fox News, "My agent and manager thought that doing this film was an insane move - I was told it would be the end of my career. But it has been the highlight of my career and my personal life."

Actress ANNETTE BENING has become the latest celebrity to join the debate over U.S. vice presidential candidate SARAH PALIN - insisting the politician "deserves our respect".
The Republican has come under fire from a host of stars, including Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Lindsay Lohan, who have all spoken publicly of their dislike for her.
But Bening is adamant that even though she disagrees with Palin’s political views, the Alaskan governor doesn’t deserve to be treated so harshly.
American Beauty star Bening tells Fox News, "We really want to hear her views, and I’m sure she’ll do very well in the debate. She’s obviously a very accomplished woman. I’m a Democrat, I’m a supporter of Barack Obama but she certainly deserves our respect."

The latest installment in the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL movie series has already begun breaking box office records in the U.K. - the teen picture has taken the most advance bookings ever.
The film, starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, is due for release in Britain on 22 October (08), but cinemas across the country have already started booking for the first screenings.
And now the third High School Musical has broken the record set by 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, selling more than $925,000 (£500,000) in advance tickets.
J.K. Rowling’s wizard adventure took just $419,950 (£227,000) at the same time before release.
Rupert Gavin, chief executive of Britain’s Odeon cinema chain, says, "Our cinemas have been inundated with calls to pre-book tickets for what could be the year’s biggest kids and teen audience movie. With schools breaking up for half-term just as High School Musical 3 opens, we are bracing ourselves for a huge first week run." The original TV movie was broadcast on the Disney channel in January 2006 and went on to become an unexpected worldwide hit.
The sequel’s premiere was watched by 18.6 million people in the U.S. last summer (08) - breaking cable TV records.

The organisers of a campaign to keep gay marriage legal in California have accused Hollywood stars of not doing enough for the cause.
Moviemaker Steven Spielberg and actor Brad Pitt have both donated $100,000 (£54,000) to the anti-Proposition 8 campaign, which helps activists oppose a high-level state vote to ban same-sex marriages.
But the campaign’s organisers claim celebrities are not doing enough to support the cause.
Activist Jonathan Lewis says, "We are concerned that the entertainment industry hasn’t stepped up to the plate to fight this unnecessary initiative … Now it’s time for the entertainment industry as a whole to take the lead." The vote is due to take place in the upcoming November (08) elections. Gay marriages were legalised in the state in May (08).

The apartment block once inhabited by SEX PISTOLS stars JOHN LYDON and SID VICIOUS has reopened following a $9.25 million (£5 million) make-over.
The rockers illegally stayed at the North London building in the late 1970s.
The apartment had no running water or electricity and was declared unfit for habitation by the local Hampstead council.
But now the block has been given a multi-million dollar facelift and reopened for public sale.
New tenants will still be able to see the legacy of the music legends, as Vicious etched his name into one of the blocks on the outside of the building.
The carving has been left in place to preserve the history of the block.

Rockers FALL OUT BOY have confirmed they are to team up with stars including LIL WAYNE, DEBBIE HARRY and PHARRELL WILLIAMS on their new album.
Last month (Sep08) Pete Wentz denied that the band were set to record a track with the Lollipop hitmaker for their forthcoming LP, Folie à Deux, after the news leaked on an internet blog site.
But the bassist has now confirmed Wayne’s guest appearance - and announced the band have also teamed up with Blondie singer Harry and N.E.R.D. star Williams.
Wentz tells MTV.com, "We got Wayne and Debbie Harry cameos done. Pharrell produced a track too. I just think the record is going to be diverse. It goes all the way between (Blondie and Lil Wayne)." Folie à Deux is expected to hit shops next month (Nov08).

New duo DAILEY & VINCENT were the big winners at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards - scooping five prizes.
The pair - Darrin Vincent and Jamie Dailey - landed 10 nominations and triumphed in five categories.
Their honours included entertainer of the year, album of the year, best vocal group, best emerging artist and best gospel recorded performance.
Another big winner was Dale Ann Bradley, who won best female vocalist ahead of favourites Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent.
Barry Bales was awarded bass player of the year, Michael Cleveland picked up the prize for top fiddle player, and his band Flamekeeper also won instrumental group of the year.

Canadian rocker BRIAN LOURIE has died. He was 39.
The longtime drummer for Slaughter - later known as Strappado - passed away following a heart attack.
Details of where and when he died were unavailable as WENN went to press.
Slaughter guitarist Dave Hewson says, "Brian was one of the best people I have ever met and was a huge part of Slaughter joining in 1987-88 ’till we disbanded in 1992. His sense of humour and love for life made him such a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. "

Actress SIENNA MILLER once rescued a paparazzo from drowning - just minutes after he harassed her for a photograph.
The star - who recently successfully sued a British newspaper over invasion of privacy claims regarding a set of photos it published of her - says a group of snappers went to ridiculous lengths to get a picture when she was filming The Edge of Love.
She says, "The paparazzi were actually dropping out of trees when we were filming in Wales.
"They were popping up from bushes and there was even a boat with them in while we were filming on the beach and they started to sink.
"We had to call the coastguard out to rescue them. We shouldn’t have, but we did. It was insane."

Actor RUSSELL CROWE was concerned for his pal LEONARDO DiCAPRIO after his appearance in hit movie TITANIC - in case life in the spotlight ruined him.
Gladiator star Crowe met DiCaprio when they filmed Western movie The Quick and the Dead in the early 1990s.
The two actors were both relatively unknown at the time, and became firm friends on set.
DiCaprio later shot to global superstardom as Jack Dawson in Oscar-winning 1997 movie Titanic - and Crowe admits he feared the young actor would be sucked into the Hollywood promotion machine.
He tells USA Today newspaper, "I was a little worried about him after Titanic. The massive success of something like that, it’s not always a positive, particularly when you’re that young.
"Suddenly you find yourself on lunchboxes and bedroom slippers. That can have a deteriorating effect on the inside."

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has launched a thinly-veiled attack on ex-wife HEATHER MILLS on his forthcoming dance music album.
The Beatles legend has teamed up with The Verve producer Youth to record a new record as his side project The Fireman.
And the opening song on the album - called Nothing Too Much, Just Out Of Sight - contains a furious-sounding McCartney apparently lashing out at Mills.
According to British newspaper The Sun, lyrics on the track include, "The last thing you do was to try and betray me/ In new morning light/ I’ll never forget it/ And that’s just outta sight".
And McCartney, who reached a $50 million (£24.3 million) divorce settlement with Mills earlier this year (08), signs off with the line: "And you have money/ And no manners." The album, Electronic Arguments, is due for release next month (Nov08).

Rocker PETE DOHERTY was swamped by fans at a London gig - after dozens of supporters invaded the stage.
The Babyshambles frontman was playing a solo show at the Hackney Empire on Thursday (02Oct08) night, when fans climbed over the barriers and rushed at the singer.
Security guards at the venue were forced to step in and haul Doherty out of danger.
A source tells British newspaper The London Paper, "People were literally being thrown off the stage. During the finale, one by one, they tried to jump on from all angles. Security were having a pretty hard time keeping them away from Pete - especially the girls.
"At one point two brunettes ran on and latched onto Pete until security - at least four of them - had to prise them apart.”

Hollywood star TONY CURTIS regrets criticising his kiss with late screen star MARILYN MONROE in SOME LIKE IT HOT - insisting their clinch was very passionate.
Curtis once likened his steamy scene with Monroe in the 1959 movie to "kissing Hitler".
But in his upcoming memoirs, American Prince, he reveals the scene actually left him aroused.
He writes, "I (was aroused) all through that scene… and when (director Billy Wilder) yelled ‘Cut!’, she pushed herself off me and gave me a big, satisfied smile." Curtis also reveals that "after years of putting up with guys coming on to me", he felt nervous about dressing in drag for the movie.

BILLY RAY CYRUS is not worried about his troubled pal HEATHER LOCKLEAR insisting she will "weather the storm" following her recent arrest.
The singer-turned-actor - who stars with Locklear in upcoming movie Flying By - spoke out after the actress was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles last week (27Sep08).
Tests later showed the former Dynasty star had not been drinking alcohol, and police believe she might have been under the influence of prescription drugs.
But Cyrus insists Locklear will bounce back from her recent troubles, because she is a "survivor".
He tells Entertainment Tonight, "My thoughts and prayers are with Heather and her little girl. They’ll weather the storm.
"Anytime you’re in the entertainment business you’re going to have peaks and valleys. She’s a survivor and she’s going to be fine. She’s going to be right back on top. I want her to know the Cyrus family is here, we love her and we’re going to be standing right by her side."

LATEST: SANDRA BERNHARD is "terribly upset" to be dropped from a woman’s shelter fundraiser following her controversial comments about U.S.
vice-presidential candidate SARAH PALIN.
The comedienne allegedly shocked fans at a show in Washington D.C. last month (Sep08) when she said that Palin would be gang-raped if she ever set foot in New York.
According to reports, the star said the Alaskan Governor could expect to be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" during the on-stage rant aimed at pro-life Palin, who has said she opposes abortion in cases of rape and incest.
Organisers for Rosie’s Place shelter in Boston, Massachusetts subsequently dropped Bernhard from their forthcoming benefit gala, stating: "In light of our mission, we don’t think violence against women is a laughing matter." However, Bernhard insists the shocking comments were taken out of context.
She explains, "In no way am I making any sort of joke about crimes against women - quite the contrary. I’m speaking out about someone who doesn’t do enough to protect women.
"I think if you look at the real issues I’m addressing, my intent becomes clear. I am a die-hard advocate for women’s rights, and fully support the work of Rosie’s Place."

OASIS rocker NOEL GALLAGHER has exposed his younger brother LIAM as a huge fan of beauty products.
The guitarist claims his brother regularly dyes his hair and even wears make-up.
He says, "Liam’s been dyeing his hair for a while. And he wears make-up. I’ve seen him in eyeliner at parties looking like something from A Clockwork Orange.
"And he knows about his moisturiser. I think he’s trying to head off old age but it’ll catch him." However, Noel would prefer to grow old gracefully.

BLACK MOON rapper BUCKSHOT has been released from hospital after suffering a series of seizures.
The Brooklyn-based hip-hop star was forced to seek emergency medical treatment after returning from a tour in Europe last month (Sep08).
The star’s representative tells AllHipHop.com he suffered nine seizures in one day.
Doctors believe the health scare was brought on by physical exhaustion and dehydration.
The rapper says, "I want to thank all the fans who called and wrote emails extending their well wishes and prayers. All the support helped me recover that much quicker."
