MENDES SLAMS ‘PRUDISH’ AMERICA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:02 pm

Hollywood actress EVA MENDES has slammed Americans for glorifying violence while remaining prudish about nudity on-screen.
The Hitch star was at the centre of controversy in August (08), when an advert she filmed for Calvin Klein was deemed too sexy for U.S. TV and banned by several of the major networks.
Mendes has since insisted that she is proud of the promo, which saw her writhing semi-naked on a bed.
And now the star has hit out at American censors for allowing gory shows to appear on TV, yet being too heavy-handed when it comes to naked scenes.
She tells People.com, "I love my country, but I believe that we are too quick to censor nudity. We seem okay with violence, but nudity we race to criticise and censor. I’m not at all ashamed or frightened about showing my body."

BOLLYWOOD STRIKE ENDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:55 pm

A strike in India’s Bollywood film and TV industry is over after executives agreed to implement better pay and working conditions for staff.
Production on both movies and TV shows ground to a halt earlier this week (beg28Sep08) after thousands of technicians and actors walked out.
Unions representing film employees in Mumbai claimed that many of their members have gone without pay for several months and threatened indefinite strike action.
However, Dinesh Chaturvedi, of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, which represents 147,000 members over 22 unions, has announced that the industry’s leaders have accepted their list of conditions.
He says, "The producers have agreed to our demands." Sushma Shiromanee, from the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association, also confirmed the news: "The strike is over. We have agreed to the same demands as on the earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)." Both sides have reportedly signed the MoU detailing wages workers in Mumbai’s film and TV studios.
It also included guaranteed wage increases of up to 15 per cent a year.

MILLER SUED BY JEANS COMPANY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:43 pm

Hip-hop star P. MILLER is facing legal action from clothing company Pepe Jeans over accusations of copyright infringement by his own fashion house.
The rapper-turned entrepreneur, formerly known as Master P, recently set up P.Miller Designs.
But the company has come under fire from executives at Pepe Jeans, who claim the ‘P’ logo is too similar to their own stamp, and sued for trademark infringement.
Miller has hit back, claiming that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has his first use date recorded in public record as 1 April, 2003, while Pepe’s registered mark falls on 1 June, 2003.
He tells Allhiphop.com, "I went to the website of PepeJeans.com and couldn’t find a circled-P anywhere, on their clothing, or the brand advertising within the site. I’m the future of affordable fashion and big brands will always hate me, but they shouldn’t throw stones if they live in a glass house! I make clothes for underprivileged families. What are they (Pepe) doing? Hating? I thought this kind of thing only happened in the rap game." And Miller is now planning to counter-sue on the ground of malicious interference with his company.
He adds, "I guess they didn’t do their homework. I am also filing a countersuit for tortious interference with my business and future business with Wal-Mart. And since they saw fit to go after my retailer, I will return the favour and file suit against several of their retailers like Macy’s, Dr. Jay’s, Nordstrom, and Eastbay.”

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

JESSICA ALBA has teamed up with HEROES star HAYDEN PANETTIERE for a spoof video urging young people in the U.S. to vote at the upcoming presidential election.

CROWE’S DOUBTS OVER WEIGHTY ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

Actor RUSSELL CROWE wants to avoid roles where he has to put on weight - after piling on the pounds for RIDLEY SCOTT’s upcoming movie BODY OF LIES.
The star plays a CIA boss in the thriller movie, and was told by Scott he needed to bulk up for the role.
So the Gladiator actor piled on more than 50 pounds (22.7 kilograms) preparing for the part.
But Crowe was so disgusted with his appearance, he will now think twice about accepting a similar role again.
He tells USA Today newspaper, "Ridley called up and said ‘Now, mate, would you mind putting on a significant amount of weight? I see him (the character) as an ex-athlete who has let himself go’. And I trust him so much, I say yes first and rationalize pretentious artistic reason later.
"When I see my gut hanging between my legs, I don’t know what I was thinking.
I’m not sure I’d do that again." Crowe’s Body of Lies co-star and close friend Leonardo DiCaprio was also shocked by the actor’s bulky new physique.
He adds, "I busted out laughing, I couldn’t stop."
