HEADON FORGIVES THE CLASH FOR DISMISSAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Drummer TOPPER HEADON has forgiven his former THE CLASH bandmates for firing him - insisting his drug addiction left him unfit to play with the legendary group.
The musician performed with the band at the height of their success between 1978 and 1982 - but his growing heroin habit eventually led to his dismissal.
Headon admits that his addiction left him unable to carry out his duties and he understands why his colleagues had to fire him.
He writes in The Clash, a new autobiography by the band, "I was out of control. I remember being sick on Buddy Holly’s grave, which didn’t go down too well. I was a Keith Moon (late The Who drummer) fan - you know, ‘Live fast, die young,’ and I lost the plot completely.
"On the tour of the Far East, I was standing in a lift with Joe (Strummer, frontman) and he’s saying: ‘How can I sing all these antidrug songs with you stoned out of your head behind me?’"

MOORE SUES AUSSIE MAG OVER PARTY PHOTOS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 am

DEMI MOORE is suing an Australian celebrity magazine after it published pictures of the actress at a private Oscars party earlier this year (08).
The Ghost star has launched legal action in Melbourne, Australia against New Idea magazine, according to Australian News.com.au.
The pictures at the centre of the suit are of Moore at the Oscars bash thrown by Madonna and her business partner Guy Oseary in February (08).
The black and white snaps feature Moore, alongside daughter Rumer Willis, Orlando Bloom and Cameron Diaz.
In the claim, filed at Melbourne’s Federal Court last week (begs22Sep08), Moore states the publication infringed her copyright over the photos when it used them on the cover of its March (08) edition.
According to reports, Moore agreed to purchase the photos from the party’s organiser Jeffrey Best - who had signed a pre-party deal with the bash’s official photographer to buy the snaps.
It is not known how they came to be in the possession of New Idea.
Moore seeks unspecified damages from the magazine’s publisher Pacific Magazines.
A further hearing will take place in Melbourne on Friday (03Oct08).

SPEARS’ LAWYER ASKS JUDGE TO DELAY DRIVING LICENSE CASE FOR SECOND TIME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 am

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS’ lawyer has asked a judge overseeing the star’s ongoing illegal driving case to delay the upcoming trial - for a second time.
Spears’ lawyer J. Michael Flanagan was granted an extension to work on the case in January (08) and was due back in Los Angeles Superior Court for a hearing the following month (Feb08).
Judge T.K. Herman then issued the renewed trial date earlier this month (18Sep08), calling on the Toxic hitmaker to reappear in court on 15 October (08).
And now Flanagan has once again filed a petition seeking a delay in the criminal case - arguing that the star is still unable to actively participate in her own defence because of her father’s conservatorship. Jamie Spears has controlled the singer’s estate and personal affairs since February (08).
The hearing relates to an incident in August (07), when Spears scraped a parked car in a private parking lot in California’s San Fernando Valley while driving without a valid licence.
Spears has since obtained her Californian state driving licence.

ALLEN THRIVES ON NEW YORK’S ‘CHAOS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 am

WOODY ALLEN has discovered the secret behind his long love affair with New York - he needs the bright lights and loud noises of the city to sleep at night.
The filmmaker only discovered Manhattan’s grip on him when he bought an estate in star-studded retreat The Hamptons, on New York State’s Long Island and hated it.
Allen explains, "I bought a very, very beautiful house in the Hamptons, and I spent over a year fixing it up. I put in trees, I changed the roof; I mean, I did an incredible job. Then I went out there one night and I slept in it, and I never came back.
"The city is so full of chaos, and the chaos is, for many people, pleasurable. Recently I was living in a sublet on Madison Avenue, and every night you would hear ambulances and sirens. It was truly a lullaby."

ARTERTON AIMS TO BREAK BOND GIRL MOULD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 am

New BOND girl GEMMA ARTERTON is worried her feisty character in the forthcoming 007 movie QUANTUM OF SOLACE will fail to turn on red-blooded male fans because she is so normal.
The British actress wanted to break the tried-and-tested Bond girl mould by playing a down-to-earth love interest in Daniel Craig’s second outing as the suave secret agent.
However, despite Arterton insisting her character in the movie isn’t "hot", she believes she has a certain humble charm that will interest most men.
She says, "There is a formula to Bond women. They’re his women. You just have to make them your own in any way you can.
"To the normal guy, they’re unobtainable but I didn’t want that. I wanted my character to be a girl from down the road who does this job - we don’t know exactly what she does but she goes to work every day - and comes back and she goes down the pub at the weekend and has a drink." She adds, "At first you might think she was a bit of a snooty bitch but she’s actually quite nice when you get to know her. I wanted to make her real. She’s not hot but I hope there’s a charm to her."

PINK STUNNED BY U.S. NUMBER ONE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 am

Pop star PINK was shocked her latest single SO WHAT shot to the top of the U.S.
charts - because she didn’t think her fellow Americans understood her wild ways.
The feisty singer scored her first number one single in America with her love/hate anthem last week (begs22Sep08), despite being on the music scene for eight years.
And the star doesn’t understand how the track found its way to the top spot insisting music fans in the U.S. think she’s a "psycho".
She says, "No one could believe I was number one. They still think I’m a psycho. I just laugh and don’t pay much attention, I guess I’m pretty much all over the place.
"I’m pretty in your face and that can work against me. People still don’t get me." (MJ/WNTST/CL) WENN - SECOND - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 30 SEPTEMBER 2008

FOLLOWILL INSPIRED BY MUSIC ‘DEPRIVED’ YOUTH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 am

KINGS OF LEON frontman CALEB FOLLOWILL has credited the band’s religious upbringing as the catalyst for making great music.
The band of brothers; Caleb, Nathan and Jared, along with cousin Matthew, grew up under the strict guidance of their Pentecostal preacher father, who banned any form of non-faith music from their household.
And the group cite this lack of popular music as the inspiration for creating new tracks - because they have so many repressed melodies to work with.
He says, "Our favourite thing to do is to create music because we were somewhat deprived of it while we were growing up, due to religious standards.
"Now, whenever we get in the studio someone will play one riff and before you know it, like, literally, within 15 minutes, we have all our parts."

ULRICH REJECTS FAN’S ALBUM COMPLAINTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 am

METALLICA legend LARS ULRICH has slammed fans for complaining about the sound quality of the group’s latest album DEATH MAGNETIC - insisting the unpolished finish was intentional.
Hoardes of rock fans have hit online music forums to discuss their disappointment in the LP’s production, with many feeling the record is "too loud".
As a further blow, fans have labelled the version available through the Guitar Hero video game as superior to the actual official release.
But Ulrich disagrees with the comments that have surfaced since the record hit stores earlier this month (Sep08), and is proud of the album’s live feel.
He tells Blender magazine, "(Producer) Rick Rubin’s whole thing is to try and get it to sound lively, to get it (to) sound loud, to get it to sound exciting, to get it to jump out of the speakers. Of course, I’ve heard that there are a few people complaining. But I’ve been listening to it the last couple of days in my car, and it sounds f**kin’ smokin." And the drummer blames the Internet for fan’s unrest - because it fuels people’s urge to complain.
He adds, "The difference between back then and now is the internet. The internet gives everybody a voice, and the Internet has a tendency to give the complainers a louder voice."

BRITNEY PLANNING WORLD TOUR FOR 2009

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:09 am

BRITNEY SPEARS is planning to tour the world again in 2009 after fans gave her comeback single WOMANIZER a big thumbs up over the weekend (26-28Sep08).
The pop superstar phoned into New York’s Z100 radio station on Monday morning (29Sep08) to thank fans for their support, and when she was asked about the possibility of forthcoming concert dates, she gushed a tour is "definitely planned".
She said, "Definitely next year and probably around the world." Spears’ last world trek, 2004’s The Onyx Hotel Tour, ended in disaster when she had to scrap dates following a knee injury.
The Toxic singer also told Z100 that her comeback started with her triple-gong win at the MTV Video Music Awards, including the honour for Video of The Year (Piece of Me) - something that took her completely by surprise.
She added, "It’s a cool video, but I think, by far, I’ve done videos that are way better, so I was really shocked that it got the award.
"It was just inspiring, though, because now, going forward with the videos that I’m doing now, I can really go there and do something crazy and see what happens."

CROWE REVEALS ALL ABOUT SNEEZING PRANK ON DiCAPRIO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:06 am

RUSSELL CROWE has owned up to a prank he played repeatedly on his THE QUICK AND THE DEAD co-star LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, which left the TITANIC star convinced his pal was sneezing all over him.
DiCaprio confessed he’d spent the last decade thinking he was a carrier of Crowe’s mucus - and was relieved when the Oscar-winner revealed his sneezing antics in the make-up trailer were just a dirty practical joke.
During a recent promotional interview for the stars’ latest movie, Body of Lies, Crowe explained, "I’d wait until he was sitting in the make-up chair and I’d walk past him and go, ‘Achew!’ and squirt my atomizer, so little bits of fine mist would form on his face and he’d obviously assume it was mucus." Relieved DiCaprio laughed at the revelation, adding, "I’m really happy.
That’s been bothering me for a long time." Crowe and DiCaprio were co-stars in The Quick And The Dead in 1995.
