PAUL NEWMAN spent the years before his death ensuring his charitable foundation would continue to run long after he was gone.
For nearly 30 years, 100 per cent of the profits from sales of the Newman’s Own range of foods have been passed onto charities worldwide, through the Newman’s Own Foundation.
More than $250 million (£135 million) has been handed out to good causes, including camps for children suffering from life- threatening diseases.
And foundation Vice President Robert Forrester insists it will continue to carry out the late actor’s wishes.
Forrester says, "Really, everything is in great shape. He said, ‘When I’m not here, this foundation is to continue the tradition of giving all of this money away.’" Newman died from cancer on Friday (26Sep08) at the age of 83.

American rockers THE HOLD STEADY have pulled out of all dates on their U.K.
tour, reportedly due to illness.
The band was scheduled to kick off their string of gigs in Oxford on Monday (29Sep08) night - but they have been forced to cancel.
Their management team has yet to give fans an official reason for the cancellation, but rumours online suggest one of the quintet has fallen ill.
The Hold Steady were due to play eight shows across the U.K., with the tour wrapping in London on 8 October (08).
Ticketholders have been advised to contact their point of sale for refunds.

Canadian singer MICHAEL BUBLE is still pining for his actress ex EMILY BLUNT two months after they split.
The Home hitmaker parted ways with the Devil Wears Prada star in July (08) after three years together, citing their hectic work schedules for the break-up.
Buble admits the love split hit him hard and he is still struggling to nurse his broken heart.
He tells Entertainment Tonight Canada, "I’ll go home and I’ll curl up in a ball and I’ll cry. I’m not kidding. I’ll just cry." The couple parted on good terms, and Buble insists he has only praise for the actress: "Emily was a substantial person and amazing still. Top girl. Top class.
"In my business it’s tough to go out with another artist because you’re never together. You’re lucky if you can see the person once every two to three months, and with Em, she was on her movies and I was doing my thing so it made it more difficult." But Buble is now looking to the future and has a strong idea of the qualities he looks for in a potential partner.
He adds, "I don’t want a pushover. I want a strong human being that doesn’t put up with my BS (bulls**t). It turns me on actually."

A former accountant for Cuban salsa star CELIA CRUZ has been ordered by a judge to pay back more than $2.5 million (£1.35 million) to the late singer’s family after cashing in on her life insurance policy.
Luis Falcon, who was in charge of Cruz’s finances during her career, was hauled into court by the star’s family after claiming the payout from her insurance company.
But a New Jersey judge ruled on Thursday (25Sep08) that Falcon must hand back the cash to Cruz’s sister Gladys Becquer and her step-daughter, Ernestina Moracen-Knight.
In addition to the $2.5 million, Falcon must pay a further $413,000 (£223,240) in costs.
Cruz’s former manager Omer Pardillo tells PeopleEnEspanol.com, "Thank God everything is getting resolved." Celia Cruz died from a brain tumour at her home in New Jersey in July 2003, aged 77.

Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS reportedly disciplined a member of his staff after they stole PHARRELL WILLIAMS’ personal details and began to harass the hip-hop star.
The N*E*R*D hitmaker was baffled to suddenly field emails from a wannabe musician desperate to work with him - so he traced them back to Diddy’s Sean John fashion label.
A source tells the New York Post, "A Sean John employee got his hands on Pharrell Williams’ e-mail address somehow. He e-mailed Pharrell so many times asking if they could work together, but Pharrell had no idea who the person writing to him was." A representative for Combs confirms the story to the Post - but insists the star wasn’t involved: "Diddy was not made aware of this incident. A staff member was contacted, and they handled it internally."

Troubled country singer MINDY McCREADY is heading back to jail on Tuesday (30Sep08) after voluntarily agreeing to serve time for a probation violation.
The star, 32, was arrested for prescription drug fraud in June (08), an incident which was considered a violation of her probation relating to a 2004 drug arrest. That conviction led to McCready losing custody of her two-year-old son, Zander.
She has now reached a deal with prosecutors which will see her check into a Tennessee prison where she will serve a 60-day sentence, reports People.com.
In a statement released on Monday (29Sep08), she says, "I am working very hard to put all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get back to what I like to do most: sing, write songs, and entertain.
"I would like to thank my fans for their unwavering support as I continue to work on my recovery and to regain custody of my precious son, Zander." Her attorney Lee Ofman adds, "The successful completion of this sentence will satisfy her obligation to the State of Tennessee resulting from her probation violation." It isn’t the first time McCready has been in trouble for breaking the rules of her probation - she was arrested in 2005 for failing to notify her probation officer that she was heading out of state, and jailed in 2007 after attacking her mother in a scuffle in Florida.

Former BLINK-182 rocker TRAVIS BARKER has been released from hospital in Georgia - more than a week after he was involved in a plane crash that killed four others.
The drummer and his pal Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein were the only survivors after the Learjet they were passengers on failed to clear a runway in South Carolina and burst into flames. Four passengers died in the crash, including Barker’s assistant Chris Baker.
Goldstein, Nicole Richie’s DJ ex, returned to Los Angeles last weekend (20Sep08), and is currently resting and recovering from severe burns.
And now Barker is on his way home to L.A. after being released from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta on Monday (29Sep08).
Burn Center spokesperson Beth Frits tells People.com, "Travis is doing great and was discharged this morning. He has left Augusta."

LATEST: California police investigating HEATHER LOCKLEAR’s weekend arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) believe the actress was high on prescription drugs at the time of her arrest.
The former Melrose Place star was taken into custody by police in Santa Barbara after a local reported her "driving erratically" upon leaving a parking lot in the coastal city.
She was booked for DUI and being under the influence of a controlled substance, and held behind bars overnight before being released on Sunday (28Sep08) without posting bail.
Explaining the incidents leading up to Locklear’s arrest, California Highway Patrol spokesperson Tom Marshall tells People.com, "Around 4:30 pm, a female witness saw Heather Locklear driving erratically while leaving a parking lot in Montecito. The witness said Locklear was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times.
"The witness called 911 because she was concerned for Locklear’s safety. When a CHP officer arrived, Locklear was found seated inside her vehicle, which was partially blocking the roadway." Authorities have ruled out alcohol intoxication after Locklear underwent tests at a local CHP station.
Marshall adds, "Alcohol was ruled out as a factor, but based on the officer’s observations, we believe Locklear was under the influence of prescription medication." The news comes just two months after Locklear checked out of an Arizona rehab clinic, where she received treatment for anxiety and depression.

Hollywood actor DENNIS QUAID has dismissed rumours ex-wife MEG RYAN is filing for full custody of their teenage son JACK after tabloid reports surfaced questioning his sobriety.
The Vantage Point star split from Ryan in 2000 and their divorce was finalised in 2001.
The couple, who share custody of 16-year-old Jack, has left Hollywood guessing over the details behind their split for the last eight years, but Ryan finally broke her silence last week, when she claimed Quaid had cheated on her.
The revelation prompted sources close to the former couple to leak further information about their divorce, with one insider claiming that their joint custody agreement included a stipulation about Quaid’s sobriety, reports the New York Daily News.
The source says, "Meg came to believe he was drinking again and wanted full physical custody of Jack." But Quaid has refuted the reports, insisting nothing has changed in their care of their son since the settlement was made.
He says, "Meg and I have always had joint custody of Jack without any stipulations whatsoever." Quaid is now married to Kimberly Buffington, and the couple welcomed twins last year (07).

BRITNEY SPEARS’ paparazzo ex ADNAN GHALIB is attempting to cash in on his relationship with the singer - by selling off a sex tape allegedly featuring the star.
The British snapper dated Spears on and off for several months during the last year (07/08), and claims to be in possession of raunchy video footage in which she wears nothing more than a pink wig.
The two-hour long tape was allegedly recorded while the couple was on vacation in Mexico, just days after Spears was hospitalised following a stand off with Los Angeles police when she refused to hand back her sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline after a scheduled visit.
And according to the U.K.’s Heat magazine, Ghalib is now looking to make money from his time with Spears - but will only go into detail about the supposed sex tape for "the right price".
He says, "There is such a tape, but I won’t discuss prices for hypothetical enquiries. Unless there is a locked-in deal, I will go no further."

RYAN PHILLIPPE’s relationship with actress ABBIE CORNISH is going "great", according to their STOP-LOSS co-star ROB BROWN.
The couple recently went public with their romance - months after they were first linked - and their love is going from strength to strength.
Brown tells People.com, "They’re great. I was with them last night. They’re good people." Earlier this year (08), Phillippe opened up about his 2006 split and subsequent divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon, describing it as "the darkest, saddest place I had ever been".
At the time of their split, Phillippe’s relationship with Cornish was blamed for the breakdown of his marriage, but the actor denied he had ever been unfaithful to Witherspoon.
And Brown insists Phillippe is coping well since the divorce was finalised last year (07).
He adds, "He’s all right. He’s in good spirits and he seems happy. And I’m happy for him."

Hollywood tough guy KIEFER SUTHERLAND has banned mirrors from his home because he’s scared of them.
The 24 star admits he has a fear of the looking glass and avoids being around them.
He says, "Come over to my house. You won’t find a mirror anywhere.
"I don’t like mirrors. They are frightening." Ironically, in latest movie Mirrors, Sutherland plays a department store security guard who starts seeing horrifying images in the shop’s mirrors.

Comedian DOMENICK IRRERA has been arrested by police in Los Angeles for driving under the influence (DUI).
The funnyman, who made a cameo appearance in 1998’s The Big Lebowski as the limousine driver, was pulled over by cops around 12.50am local time on Monday (29Sep08).
He was booked on the driving violation and is being held at North Hollywood police station on $5,000 (£2,700) bail, according to website TMZ.com.

DIRTY PRETTY THINGS frontman CARL BARAT enjoyed his recent stint as an actor so much, he’s plotting a return to the big screen - and has already landed a role as a scientist in a new British movie.
The former Libertines guitarist starred as rock legend Gene Vincent in the upcoming film Telstar, which charts the life of pioneering music producer Joe Meek.
Now he has lined up another movie role - but is keeping the details under wraps.
He says, "I have something coming up. It’s a very different direction (to Telstar) - a part you really would not expect me to play which makes it very exciting. I’ll be playing a scientist in a new British film which will be weird but cool." Telstar is set to premiere at the London Film Festival next month (Oct08).

Danish dance duo JUNIOR SENIOR has split so the members can focus on their solo careers.
The stars enjoyed chart success in 2003 with their single Move Your Feet.
But Jesper ‘Junior’ Mortensen and Jeppe ‘Senior’ Laursen have announced they are to part ways.
In a post on their MySpace.com page, they wrote: "We have decided in much peace and prosperity to put Junior Senior to rest and focus 100 per cent on making music on our own, as we have been doing for the last year. Jesper Jr.
through I Scream Ice Cream - and now The Little Sisters - and Jeppe Sr. as Jeppe."

Eighties pop star BOY GEORGE stormed out of an interview on live radio in Britain on Friday (26Sep08), after he was grilled on his drug-taking past.
The former Culture Club frontman ended the chat with Smooth Radio DJ Tony Lyman, when Lyman asked if there was a connection between his drug taking and the band splitting in 1986 and again in 2002.
He told the presenter, "I really don’t want to do this interview… I’m sorry but I’m just not doing it," and left the studio.
Lyman tells CMU Music, "We were doing the interview via a studio link and I thought we’d got off to a good start. Boy George was giving some very honest answers. But then the air went dead, never a good thing in radio, and I realised he’d gone." George was recently denied a visa to tour in the U.S. this year (08), because of outstanding criminal charges in the U.K.
Speaking after cancelling the tour, the star - real name George O’Dowd revealed he has been clean since the end of 2002.

Shamed pop star GARY GLITTER has been banned from leaving the U.K. to travel abroad.
The singer - real name Paul Gadd - was released from prison in Vietnam in August (08) after serving nearly three years for sexually assaulting two girls aged nine and 11.
He attempted to avoid deportation to his native Britain by flying to Thailand and Hong Kong - but was rejected and eventually returned to the U.K.
Glitter was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register when he arrived back home, meaning he has to inform British authorities of any travel plans.
He recently submitted a request to travel to Spain via France - but his application was turned down by a judge at Ashford Magistrates Court in Kent, south east England, last Thursday (25Sep08).
The 64 year old is thought to be planning to appeal the decision.
