GILMOUR PAYS MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO WRIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 am

DAVID GILMOUR has paid a musical tribute to his former PINK FLOYD bandmate RICHARD WRIGHT, who died after a short battle with cancer last week (15Sep08) at the age of 65.
Gilmour performed a rendition of 1968 album track Remember A Day to honour his late bandmate at a U.K. TV recording.
And Gilmour had nothing but fond memories of his bandmate in an interview for BBC music show Later… With Jools Holland, which is set to air in the U.K. on Friday (26Sep08).
He says, "He created a sound that glued the whole Pink Floyd thing together.
He was just a very self-effacing but very talented, lovely chap. We’re incredibly sad to have lost him.
"He brought a slightly more jazzy and ethereal element to it all. He had some elusive quality, let’s call it soul, that glued the whole thing together. You notice it when it’s missing." Wright had been due to accompany Gilmour on the show, but sent the guitarist a text message three weeks ago saying he would not be able to play.
