An Indian court has rejected a lawsuit filed by Hollywood studio Warner Bros against the makers of a Bollywood film called HARI PUTTAR.
Bosses at the movie giant took legal action against Indian-based studio Mirchi Movies, which is set to release a film entitled Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors, which follows the life of a 10-year-old Indian boy who moves to Britain.
Warner believes the name is too similar to the title character of hugely popular wizard franchise Harry Potter, and wanted the film banned worldwide.
But bosses at Mirchi Movies insist their movie has no similarities to the lead character of J.K. Rowling’s hit books.
On Monday (22sep08), the court ruled fans could easily distinguish Hari Puttar from Harry Potter.
The decision means the Bollywood film can now be released in India.
Mirchi Movies lawyer Pratibha Singh says, "The case has been dismissed. The court said that Warner Bros had known the title of the film since 2005 and had delayed bringing the case to court until the last moment." The film is due to be released across India on 26 September (08).

Superproducer MARK RONSON is keen to collaborate with EMINEM - insisting he is "really excited" about the rapper’s new album.
The Without Me hitmaker is currently working on his eagerly-awaited follow up to 2004 LP Encore.
And Ronson, who has previously teamed up with Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen, admits he would love to get involved.
He says, "I’m really excited about his comeback. I’d love to work with him. I wouldn’t rule out doing a duet with anyone."

LATEST: A burst tyre has been blamed for the fatal plane crash that killed four people and seriously injured former Blink-182 rocker TRAVIS BARKER and NICOLE RICHIE’s ex-fiance ADAM ‘DJAM’ GOLDSTEIN on Friday (19Sep08).
A cockpit voice recorder captured the jet’s pilot and co-pilot reacting to a loud noise during an otherwise routine take-off from a South Carolina airport, according to National Transportation Safety Board official Debbie Hersman.
The recording indicated that the crew was unable to control the private Learjet, which failed to clear the runway at Columbia’s airport and burst into flames before slamming into a highway embankment.
Hersman says, "The crew reacted to a sound consistent with a tyre blowout." Both Barker and Goldstein were hospitalised after scrambling from the wreckage before emergency rescue services arrived on the scene.
Doctors said on Sunday (21Sep08) that 32-year-old Barker and 35-year-old Goldstein are expected to fully recover from the second and third-degree burns they suffered in the crash.
Goldstein suffered burns to his arms and part of his head, while Barker was burned on his torso and lower body.
The deceased have been identified as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, co-pilot James Bland, 52, Charles Still, 25, a close friend of both stars, and Barker’s assistant Chris Baker, 29.

Hollywood actress NICOLE KIDMAN gave sports fans a shock when she graced the stands of a soccer match in the U.K. on Sunday (21Sep08).
The Aussie superstar and country singer husband Keith Urban watched the game between big-time British soccer clubs Chelsea and Manchester United - cheering on both sides as they battled it out in a 1-1 draw.
The star laughed with fellow soccer fans as they cheered on their sporting icons in a VIP box at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London.
Kidman is currently living in the British capital as she shoots movie musical Nine with Kate Hudson and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Pop superstar KYLIE MINOGUE has pledged her support for a campaign to raise vital funds for abused children.
The Spinning Around hitmaker has backed the drive to raise a massive $93 million (£50 million) for the British charities ChildLine and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
The two organisations need the cash to extend their phone helpline services, which provide trained counsellors for vulnerable kids to talk to.
A shortage of funds means that for every youngster calling the charities for help, another cannot get through to an adviser.
Minogue tells British newspaper The Sun, "Finding the courage to tell someone about being abused is one of the most difficult decisions a child will ever have to make.
"Sadly their cries for help are not always heard because ChildLine is unable to speak to every child who rings the 0800 1111 number. We can all help to change that by supporting the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal and make sure those children no longer face their troubles alone."

ALICIA KEYS is adamant AMY WINEHOUSE should have been included on the new JAMES BOND theme tune - insisting she would have "loved" to record with the troubled star.
Winehouse was in the running to land the official song for the new 007 movie Quantum of Solace, but the honour eventually went to Keys, who duetted with White Stripes frontman Jack White on the track.
The Back to Black singer was furious at the snub, mocking movie bosses for opting for a "clean-cut and boring" line-up.
But Keys insists that Winehouse should have been allowed to sing on the track - and adds that she would have happily shared the vocals on Another Way To Die.
She says, "I would have loved for her to do it - it would have been awesome.
All three of us should do it."

KELLY OSBOURNE has signed a lucrative deal with publishers to write her autobiography.
The daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne is set to follow in the footsteps of her TV star mum Sharon Osbourne and pen her memoirs.
Osbourne signed a deal with Virgin books to release the tome in the U.K.
later this year (08), according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
The 23-year-old will reportedly reveal the secrets of her life, including her two trips to rehab for addiction to painkillers and her infamous feud with singer Christina Aguilera.

TIM ROBBINS buddied up with battled-hardened soldiers to research his latest film role - and has dedicated the movie to them.
The Shawshank Redemption star, an outspoken critic of U.S. president George W. Bush’s administration, plays a U.S. trooper on leave from a tour of duty in Iraq in upcoming film The Lucky Ones.
To get in character for the part, he visited soldiers at Fort Dix, New Jersey - and was surprised by their reaction to him.
Robbins tells the New York Daily News, "One soldier said ‘I don’t agree with your politics but I want you to know there was a guy I served with. He and I didn’t see eye to eye politically on a damn thing, bit I liked his character and if there was anyone next to me in a hostile situation, it would be him.’ "I wanted to make a picture for these troops, something they could enjoy.
Right now we need healing. We need to understand the experience of what it’s like for the troops to come home."

TINA FEY’s luck at 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday (21Sep08) didn’t last very long - she lost her purse after rushing on-stage to collect her three gongs.
The U.S. funnywoman beamed after winning Outstanding Lead Actress for her turn in 30 Rock, the show she created, which also won Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy series at the event in Los Angeles.
But as Fey went backstage to speak to reporters, she realised she had forgotten her bag in the excitement.
She told the press, "If anyone’s seen my purse. I left it under my seat." And the modest actress refused to take all the credit for her hit TV creation - insisting it is her co-stars, especially Alec Baldwin, who make the show a success.
She added, "I think our cast is diverse and talented. We’ve had the greatest guest stars. Alec elevates the show to another level with his abilities."

R&B singer CHRISTINA MILIAN is set to make a music comeback after signing a new record deal with social networking site MySpace.
The sexy star was dropped by her former label, Def Jam, in 2006 reportedly due to poor sales of her third studio LP So Amazin’ - which shifted just 163,000 in the U.S.
But the star is determined to make a triumphant return to the industry - and is adamant MySpace Records will help her on her way to the top of the charts.
She tells Billboard magazine, "I’ve been out of the game for one and a half years, and I think I’m long overdue for a comeback, so I’m treating this album like it’s my last chance to make an impression. I’m competing with myself and being very detailed.
"Before, I had a label telling me what direction to go in. Now, it’s my choice, so I’m being very particular about it and I’m really excited." The 26-year-old’s new track Us Against The World will be released on 6 October (08).

Country legend DOLLY PARTON was joined by her NINE TO FIVE co-stars JANE FONDA and LILY TOMLIN at the opening night of her stage musical adaptation of the hit movie.
The show opened at Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre on Saturday (20Sep08) and went without a hitch - despite being marred by weeks of technical problems.
At the preview show last week (Tue16Sep08), Parton was forced to take to the stage when a glitch brought the performance to a grinding halt. She thrilled the crowd by singing her classic track I Will Always Love You until the show could continue.
And Fonda and Tomlin seemed impressed with the re-working of their big screen performances, smiling for snaps after the show with Parton and the film’s male star Dabney Coleman - who played the sexist boss in the popular 1980 movie.
The show will follow on its run in L.A. at New York’s Marquis Theater next spring (09).

Police in Louisiana are hunting a store worker who has allegedly tried to sell private photographs from the SPEARS family album.
According to celebrity website TMZ.com, snaps of new mum Jamie Lynn-Spears breast feeding her three-month old daughter Maddie have been offered to the media.
The collection of photographs also includes older sister Britney holding her niece alongside her parents around Jamie Lynn’s hospital bed shortly after the teenager gave birth.
The website reports the photographs were taken on Jamie Lynn’s boyfriend Casey Aldridge’s camera.
It is believed he took the camera card to a local store, but extra copies were made by a male employee.

Former SPICE GIRL VICTORIA BECKHAM was furious at reports she used diet pills, insisting the claims were "ludicrous".
The singer was accused of taking slimming tablets to lose weight by a British celebrity magazine.
Beckham is suing the publication over the claims, which also stated that the star’s sister, Louise, was transporting the tablets from the U.K. to her home in Los Angeles.
She tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "It’s such an irresponsible thing for someone to say. Lots of young girls do look up to me, and I just think it’s ludicrous that they can completely make something like that up.
"You have to take these things really seriously. There are young girls out there who will think it’s cool to take slimming tablets. Things like that are dangerous and we were furious with it."

Actress-turned-activist MIA FARROW visited victims of storm-ravaged Haiti storms on Sunday (21Sep08).
The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador hopes to raise awareness of the country’s plight after a string of devastating storms have left more than 300 citizens dead.
Tropical storm Fay started the crisis last month (Aug08), followed by Hurricane Gustav. Tropical storm Hanna, followed by Hurricane Ike further damaged the troubled island earlier this month (Sep08).
Farrow says, "I saw a city mostly submerged in deep mud (and) people still stranded on roof tops. Other people are still living in schools and in a church.
"There is a sense of confusion, loss and anger. The people in the shelters had not eaten for days, (there is) not enough water coming - of course there is in no sanitation of any kind.
"My hope is to be a good steward of this information, to take this message to the United States and the international community with the hope that the conscience of the world will respond." The World Health Organization has said that 800,000 people have been affected by the four major storms.
