An actor who shared the small screen alongside VANESSA HUDGENS and ZAC EFRON in Disney hit HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL has been sentenced to a year in jail after robbing a pizza shop at gunpoint.
Elijah Whitlock, who played a skater boy in the show, held up employees at Five Buck Pizza in Holladay, Utah on 15 May (08), reports the New York Post.
The 19-year-old has also been ordered to pay over $1,000 (£541) in fines and fees for the incident.
According to court documents, Whitlock was accused of brandishing a revolver and escaping with an undisclosed amount of money during the robbery.

LATEST: Comedian DANE COOK has been evicted from his Los Angeles apartment after he lost his appeal against a lawsuit from his landlord.
The Good Luck Chuck star was hit with legal action alleging he allowed his pet dog to defecate on the land surrounding his West Hollywood home.
The lawsuit, filed in April (08), claimed the funnyman had ignored three warnings from the building’s owner about his chihuahua’s dog pooh.
Cook returned to court last week (beg15Sep08) to appeal the case, after he was slapped with an eviction notice by the Los Angeles sheriff’s department.
In his defence, Cook claimed eviction would cause him "emotional hardship".
But the unnamed landlord has won the dispute, citing a swarm of complaints from neighbours that the dog, named Beast, is leaving his mess in the common areas of the apartment block.
According to the New York Post, Cook has just purchased a $7 million (£3.8million) home in the Hollywood Hills to move into.

KINGS OF LEON have scored a second week atop of the U.K charts.
The band - who ended Katy Perry’s reign at number one last week (14Sep08) remain at the top of the singles chart with Sex on Fire.
Perry stayed at number two with I Kissed a Girl and The Pussycat Dolls moved up a place to number three with When I Grow Up.
McFly leapt 23 places to number four with Lies.
In the album charts, rockers Metallica remain at number one with Death Magnetic, while Ne-Yo’s Year of the Gentleman was a new entry at number two.
Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad stayed at number three and Duffy’s Rockferry moved up from five to four.

WESTLIFE star MARK FEEHILY is spearheading a campaign to help fight homophobic bullying in Britain’s schools.
The singer - who revealed he was gay in August 2005 - joined Stonewall’s campaign because he was bullied as a boy.
He says, "It’s not just individual bullying, it’s the way kids in classrooms use the word gay to mean bad - gay trainers, a gay jacket they don’t like that needs to be tackled.
"People need to know that a throwaway remark at school will stab certain members of the class in the heart." Feehily joins Sir Ian McKellan, The Feeling star Dan Gillespie Sells, and Dannii Minogue in backing the nationwide campaign.

CHIC, JEFF BECK, METALLICA, RUN-DMC, THE STOOGES and WAR have been named among the nominees for induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
They’ve been joined by soul man Bobby Womack, rock ‘n’ roll queen Wanda Jackson and Little Anthony & The Imperials.
Ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters, who will select the five artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the 24th annual Induction Ceremony on 4 April (09) in Cleveland, Ohio, where the Hall of Fame has its home.
To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year’s nominees had to release their first single no later than 1983.
This year’s (08) performing inductees were Madonna, John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five and The Ventures.

LATEST: The two men travelling with TRAVIS BARKER and ADAM ‘DJAM’ GOLDSTEIN died of impact-related injuries in the blazing plane crash that left the two musicians seriously injured and killed two more.
A cockpit voice recorder captured the jet’s pilot and co-pilot reacting to a loud noise during an otherwise routine take-off on Friday (19Sep08) from a South Carolina airport, indicating that the crew was unable to control the plane, which burst into flames before slamming into a highway embankment.
The deceased have been identified as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, co-pilot James Bland, 52, Charles Still, 25, a close friend of both stars, and Barker’s assistant Chris Baker, 29.
According to a South Carolina coroner, Baker died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck while Still died of an acute subdural hematoma caused by blunt force trauma to the head.
Lemmon and Bland were killed from smoke inhalation and burns.
Doctors said on Sunday (21Sep08) both Barker and Goldstein are expected to fully recover from the second and third-degree burns they suffered in the crash.
In a statement released by Barker’s ex-wife Shanna Moakler - back with him since their 2004 divorce - she adds of the tragedy: "There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this very difficult time.
"We can only ask for prayers as we heal and mourn the loss of our dear friends who we considered part of our family. Our lives will be changed forever." Federal officials have indicated a burst tyre as a probable cause for the tragic incident.

Rapper SNOOP DOGG risked being hit with a fine in Holland after openly flouting the country’s smoking ban.
The Drop It Like It’s Hot star - real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus - was performing at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam when he lit up mid-performance.
Smoking was banned in the country in July this year (08), including at the infamous cannabis coffee shops where you can now only smoke pure marijuana.
The star recently told Access Hollywood he has given up smoking the drug, insisting he "didn’t need it anymore".

CATE BLANCHETT has reportedly been given a refund after she disputed a $30 (£16) parking ticket at a Sydney hospital.
The actress allegedly sent a letter of complaint to the Mater Hospital following the birth of son Ignatius in April (08).
It is believed the star’s husband Andrew Upton was given the ticket while his wife was in labour.
Blanchett later received a refund, reports the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
The 38-year-old came sixth in the Business Review Week’s annual poll of top earning Australian stars.

Singer DUFFY has recorded a version of SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s classic song LIVE AND LET DIE for charity - and the BEATLES legend is astonished with the result.
The Welsh songstress tackled the hit Bond theme for her contribution to the upcoming War Child charity album Heroes.
And McCartney is bowled over with the new version of his Oscar-nominated Wings song.
The track is among a host of classic cover versions slated for inclusion on the new album, which is due for release in November (08).
As part of the project, a legion of musical legends including Bob Dylan, David Bowie, and Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson have chosen a song from their back catalogue for a young artist of their choice to cover.
McCartney says, "I think Duffy’s version of Live And Let Die is great - I was really impressed. The breadth of talent on this project is amazing; it’s great that so many people gave their time, energy and support to this initiative. I urge everyone to support War Child." Among other tracks featured on the release are Beck’s version of Dylan’s Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat, The Kooks’ cover of Victoria by The Kinks, and a recording of Joy Division’s Transmission by Hot Chip.

Hollywood actors BEN STILLER, WILL FERRELL and STEVE CARRELL are sick of their media nickname - the Frat Pack.
Stiller claims the term - given to a group of male actors who have appeared together in a string of successful comedy movies - is "weird" and feels it unnecessary to be given a label.
He tells British radio station Heart FM, "It’s such a weird thing that people come up with a name that doesn’t really exist and why does everything have to rhyme all the time? If it rhymes does it make it real? Is that it?" "They don’t do it for other things. They don’t have the Women Schwimmin do they? "I think the whole thing about the Frat Pack group is completely fabricated anyway. The group doesn’t exist… but it rhymes, at least there’s that, so it must be true right?"

HEIDI KLUM picked up an injury at the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday (21Sep08) after a skit with co-host TOM BERGERON went wrong.

Moviegoers will get a double dose of MARIAH CAREY this Christmas when the singer stars in a second film project inspired by her best-selling Yuletide album.
The pop superstar announced her hopes of turning around her disastrous movie debut in 2001’s Glitter with a starring role in new movie Tennessee earlier this month (Sep08).
And now she has confirmed she is developing a second project for to be released in December (08) - a movie musical about a small town facing destruction by real-estate developers during the holidays, according to the New York Daily News.
The star’s producing partner Benny Medina explains to the newspaper, "Mariah doesn’t want to let that happen. Her character uses song and love to keep the Christmas spirit alive." Carey adds, "Since I recorded the Christmas album, I’ve always wanted to make a movie to go with it, something that people could watch and hear and enjoy every year. I’m into it. I’m all about the holiday season."

KATIE HOLMES was met with a standing ovation from critics after her first performance on Broadway in dramatic stage play ALL MY SONS.
The actress took to the stage on Thursday night (18Sep08) for a preview performance - less than a month before the show is scheduled to open its curtains to the public.
Holmes drew a star-studded crowd to the show, including husband Tom Cruise who hailed her performance as ‘extraordinary’ and was joined by his Rain Man co-star Dustin Hoffman in the audience.
Now critics have piled in to echo the Hollywood actor, praising Holmes’ skill in the Arthur Miller play.
In a review from the Associated Press, one critic says: "If Holmes felt nervous and jittery, she didn’t show it. She delivered her lines with confidence and projected her girlish voice so it could be heard loud and clear.
"She danced around on stage with gusto. She looked lovely in two dresses that highlighted her trim yet shapely figure." A theatregoer and friend of Holmes, New Yorker Nadja Forbes, adds: "She brings this fresh breeze of air not only in her acting but also in her dialogue that kind of breaks up the seriousness of what’s going on. I’m actually surprised that she’s, you know, enough of an actress for being on Broadway." The show, which co-stars John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson officially opens 16 October (08).

ROBERT De NIRO’s daughter DRENA was reportedly left red-faced at the New York premiere of her father’s film RIGHTEOUS KILL when security staff branded her an imposter and banned her from the event.
The actress showed up in support of the Hollywood icon and his co-star Al Pacino at the event earlier this month (Sep08), but was allegedly turned away at the door.
According to the New York Post, guards at the premiere dismissed Drena after a group of girls passed through security checkpoints claiming to be the actress and her pals.
De Niro reportedly produced her driver’s licence to prove her identity, but staff still refused to let her in.

GWYNETH PALTROW refuses to hire a personal chef to cook her family’s meals insisting she does it herself.
The actress snubs the celebrity trend of hiring a cook for the household because she loves to provide food for her husband - Coldplay rocker Chris Martin - and their two children.
She tells People.com, "I cook all the meals for my house. I really love to cook.
"Breads and pizzas is what I’m cooking and we all love it. We have a wood-burning pizza oven in our garden. Right now the weather is nice in London, so I’m using that oven a lot.

LINDSAY LOHAN has dismissed claims her recent foray into U.S. politics has been nothing more than a publicity stunt, following reports she is not registered to vote.
The 22-year-old actress hit headlines this month (Sep08) when she slammed Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s stance against gay marriage.
Her name returned to political headlines shortly afterwards, when Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama reportedly rejected her offer to lend her name his fundraising campaign.
According to the New York Daily News, voter registration records for Lohan have failed to turn up in her native New York and her current home in the state of California.
A spokesperson for the Mean Girls star has brushed off the reports, insisting Lohan has made plans to register for the November (08) election and blaming the delay on an oversight.
Lohan’s representative tells the newspaper, "She is so happy you told her.
She filed the paperwork and gave it to her business manager and is checking up on it now."

JENNIFER ANISTON’s co-star on U.S. TV show 30 ROCK has praised the actress, branding her "an absolute delight".
Actor Jack McBrayer, who appeared in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, confesses he was starstruck when the former Friends actress started shooting scenes for the show - but admits she was "lovely to be around".
He says, "It (Aniston’s performance) was really fantastic. It was impressive.
We were all taking notes.
"I think we are all starstruck with her. She was an absolute delight. She’s such a pro, and she was just so lovely to be around." And even though McBrayer only has one scene with Aniston, he did have enough time to approach the star off-set.
He adds, "We don’t necessarily interact, but you’ll see me in the background.
I got a picture taken with her, so that’s all I needed."

Jameson, 34, announced her pregnancy with partner, Ultimate Fighting Champion star Tito Ortiz, last month (Aug08).
