Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

British funnyman RICKY GERVAIS has revealed he turned down a leading role in the lucrative PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN film franchise because he didn’t want to play "a comedy pirate" on the big screen.
The comedian was offered the chance to play Johnny Depp’s sidekick in the Pirates trilogy, but said no.
He explains, "I didn’t want to sit in a Winnebago for six months waiting to show up as a comedy pirate for two minutes." He also tells Entertainment Weekly magazine he turned down roles in The Da Vinci Code, the new Star Trek and a remake of Dudley Moore comedy Arthur.
And the fussy star also said no to the chance of playing Hawaiian detective Magnum’s sidekick in the movie adaptation of the cult TV hit.
He adds, "I don’t want to be the funny butler."
