PROTESTORS TAKE AIM AT BECK OUTSIDE HOLMES’ BROADWAY DEBUT
Anti-Scientology demonstrators who targeted KATIE HOLMES ahead of her debut Broadway performance of ALL MY SONS also tried to convince singer BECK to denounce the religion.
Campaigners gathered outside New York’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Thursday night (18Sep08), chanting "Scientology kills!" as Holmes’ husband and Scientology follower Tom Cruise arrived to watch the performance.
And the angry mob also blasted American musician Beck in their chants, waving banners and sending anti-Scientology messages to the star and other celebrity followers.
In the protest, one campaigner held a placard bearing the slogan, "Run, Katie, run! And take Beck with you", according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
Beck has been a follower of the faith for most of his life, and is married to second-generation Scientologist, actress Marissa Ribisi.
