ESTELLE AND DUFFY TO SQUARE OFF AT MOBOS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 am

British singers ESTELLE and DUFFY are set to go head-to-head at the U.K.’s 13th annual Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards after receiving nominations for Best Female prizes.
The American Boy hitmaker, 28, previously slammed the over-promotion of white singers performing black music, insisting: "I’m not mad at them (white soul acts Duffy and Adele), but I’m wondering - how the hell is there not a single black person in the press singing soul?" Estelle, who is leading the way at the event with five nods, will also see competition from TV talent competition winner Leona Lewis, who has three nominations in the Best U.K. Female, Best Video and Best Album categories.
U.S. acts nominated for MOBO awards, voted for by members of the public, include Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Usher and Ne-Yo.
The ceremony will be co-hosted by Run DMC founder Rev Run and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown on 15 October (08) at the Wembley Arena in London.
